Get warm tube crunch in this pedal, without sacrificing the natural tone of your instrument.

This exciting tube distortion pedal gives you the warm tube crunch that you can only get from tubes. Although the Markbass Distorsore gives you access to a wide range of tones, it always honors the basic character of your instrument by adding tube distortion to the clean sound of your bass. The Gain control, Tube Drive level, and Mix of dry and distorted sounds give you incredible control over how much distortion you create.

Since distorting bass frequencies can seriously muddy your low end sound, Markbass Distorsore pedal features a very practical filter for bass in the High Pass. It allows you to only distort the high frequencies. This keeps your sound tight and focused, no matter how distorted you get. As you turn this knob up, a wider range of low frequencies is kept clean, so you are only distorting the high frequencies and keeping your bottom end full and tight. This produces rich harmonics and exciting distortion, but every note remains distinct and focused and the natural tone of your instrument still shines through. The Low Pass filter gives you a much darker distortion sound.

Like all Markbass pedals, the Distorsore features true bypass, which means that when the distortion is off, your signal goes directly from the input jack to the output jack without any degradation of audio quality.

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

Distorsore is well made but not necessarily well designed. After much experimentation (the manual is weak) I found the results to be below expectation. I have a good bit of experience with drive systems. I was looking to replace an aging Tube Works Blue Tube pedal (I also own the rack version)that provides a glorious warmth to a bass regardless of the amplifier used. But the Blue Tube is noisy at many settings. Distorsore is very quiet with a positive bypass. But even with its extensive control points I could only eek out a cold, uneven distortion. The compression seemed unnatural and the total result was generally not musical. The controls are sensitive when set in certain combinations and less so in others. Certainly, subjective results would vary depending on the characteristics of the system it is being used with (guitar/amp combo, location in chain, etc.)and the music being played. I used a custom 1973 Fender Precision running a GK MB115 combo and MusicMan HD130/JBL E140 stack playing classic rock and blues. My results were far below expectation based on reviews I have seen. I guess I will stick to the smooth warmth and musicality of the Blue Tube and its classic 12AX7 tube. Don't be fooled by the fact that this box uses a tube for its sound. It does not sound anything like a 12AX7; it still sounds solid state to me. And at this price I suppose the Distorsore will be heading back to the dealer's inventory. What a shame. I recommend anyone considering this effect to definitely try it with your or a similar system before committing to the purchase. It may work out fine for you.

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

I got this pedal cause I trust markbass and love that put filters in so much stuff. That's why I bought my Little Mark II, I didn't want an amp with distortion cause I like clean sounds, so the filters are just more practical for me. And the distortion I wanted is basically just saturation to add harmonics. With the Distorsore I thought that would be possible with the mick knob and turning tube gain down, plus the filters are awesome, but it just wasn't possibe to dial in a subtle effect. Sure, you could make the distortion super quiet in the mix, but it's still a full on distortion sound and not anything light. If your into that kinda thing than I say go for it, but it's only good at one thing, and thats High Gain Fizzy Tube Distortion.

    Tube Grind

    By Hans Frank

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

I got this pedal to dirty up my very clean Alembic Preamp. I can get alot of good usable levels of TUBE distortion, like Geddy Lee, Jack Bruce, Chris Squire tones. You can get just a little touch of drive to fat farty bass to all out distortion. The high and low pass filters are vey useful too. And the tube does give it alot warmth, way better tone than other drive pedals ive used. Overall a great pedal. Dont be afraid of the price this thing is worth it and is built like a tank.

    Try Before You Buy

    By Sentinel-RLiQF

    from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

Every once in a while, I take a chance on purchasing a piece of gear without trying first; instead trusting reviews and YouTube demo's. Although a hassle to ship back and forth, Musician's Friend is always great with returns.Essentially, I've liked most MarkBass products that I HAVE tried, but this one could use some work for the price. The case is solid metal, but the jacks are plastic, which are worrisome when it comes to repetitive patching. The knobs are also plastic, which I can deal with; and the fact that they are recessed for stomping protection is nice, but so much that they are a little hard to get your fingers in there to turn. The tone of the distortion is a little thin for my taste; and kinda tough to dial in a basic, warm tube overdrive tone, which is mainly what I wanted. My big complaint is that this pedal was originally advertized with an XLR DI out; which is also what I really wanted. When the pedal came in the mail, I was very surprised to see that there was no XLR DI jack at all! I looked again on the website to find that it had suddenly been changed.Overall, I think this pedal might have a use for something (i.e. heavy distortion only); and it's my fault for not trying it out first, so I'll hang on to it; but certainly not the right piece for Bass preamp / XLR DI.Bottom line: try before you buy.

Adds a sweet edge to my Jazz bass

    By WSox2011

    from Central Illinois

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

I am very happy with my Distorsore pedal. It delivered exactly what I wanted - adding a sharp aggressive growl on the top end of my Jazz bass. I use the high pass filter to apply the edge only to the high end of my sound - so the bass down low remains clean and powerful, while my notes have a bite on the high end. I use this primarily when practicing at home or gigging with my backup amp, a MarkBass LMII. My main stage rig is an Ampeg V4B, which is a tube amp with sweet tube overdrive. The Distorsore pedal allows me to achieve a similar feel and sound while playing at lower practice volumes and with the clean MarkBass solid-state amp. I would guess that this pedal could be used for a lot of other purposes (more extreme distortion, etc.), but for me, I use it 100% of the time when I am playing solid state to give a little bite on the top end of the notes. And yes, it is kinda cool to see the tube glowing thru the front of the pedal.

    Nearly Perfect

    By hastingsBass

    from Hastings, MI

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

While this unit expensive, it delivers. You can dial in as much or as little distortion as you want. I get that tube growl with serious low end out of my solid state ultra clean amp. I don't use effects much, but this is a must. The controls are easy to use and set up. The tube compression adds body and lets my bass punch through. My guitar player hates my rig...it's louder than his.

    Tube sound!

    By Rob-sJhxt

    from Massachusetts

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

I was looking for a pedal to add a bit of bite to my bass - a 4003 Ric. I don't use too much distortion, but rather use this pedal like a pre-amp. I add a bit of tube gain on it, and the attack is fantastic. Also, the sustain that you get with it goes on and on. I've just received the pedal, so I can't really comment on how road worthy it is, but it appears to be built like a truck. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Sick sounds for your bass, no low end loss!

    By Judas

    from Northern CA

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

With this pedal, you can get a completely sick death metal distorted tone on your bass with absolutely no loss of your actual bass low end. The rest of the band i'm in are always telling me how this pedal rounds out our sound very nicely, and i'm in love with it. If you can afford it, get it! You won't be disappointed!

    Italian Stallion

    By Nick-T7_uQ

    from Chicago

Comments about Markbass DISTORSORE Bass Pedal:

The Italian made Markbass Distorsore, is one hell of a pedal. I purchased it online without personally trying it out and am very pleased with its tone. The 7 knobs look like a they require a lot of knob turning but its pretty easy to find a good sound. Instead of an EQ the distorsore has the low pass and high pass knobs. turning them clockwise creates an eq sweep by adding in more lows or highs which works quite well. The compression feature is also very good. It's much better than my amps on-board compressor. This also thing sounds awesome combined with my wah, octave, and fuzz pedals. My only real problem is that trying get a heavier sound by turning the drive up gets kind of fizzy sounding. But overall, this pedal sounds fantastic and does just as its advertised.-When jamming out in a darken room its oh so sweet to see that glowing tube coming from the distorsore...
