Combination of tone and portability is impossible to beat.
I've never written a review before but was so pleased with my recent purchase of the Little Mark III head and New York 1x15 cabinet that I was inspired to write. The head is very powerful and provided great tone straight out of the box with EQ settings at 12 o'clock. I pushed the VPF control to 12 o'clock and instantly dialed in a nice modern sound with low end rumble and high end transparency. The combination of the head and cab provides quite a lot of oomph despite the incredibly compact size and low weight. I've played this rig in very loud band situations and it has no trouble punching through the mix with nice definition even though I haven't turned the volume up much beyond 9-10 o'clock. I now carry all my bass equipment into a practice or gig by myself in one trip like a guitar player. I've had a lot of different bass amps and cabs over many years including Kustom, Fender, Trace Elliot, Hartke, GK and SWR. But this combination of portability and tone just can't be beat.
Only had it for about a month but no complaints so far.
Not particularly cheap but it's worth it to save my back.

I've had this amp for several months now. Really like the tone it produces. However, the amp frequently shut down when playing high notes using a passive bass with the preamp output at 5 and the master at 4.Contacted customer service several times and they refused to look at it, claiming my 4-Ohm cab had an impedance problem and that I needed a Markbass cab, while every other amp I've used to power the cab has worked flawlessly. I still use the head as a preamp but now need to drag around a power amp for it.

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
I love this amp - 500W and totally portable, great sound and very well constructed. Fits in my backpack! Vintage speaker simulation sounds great.
Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
I have owned the Little Mark II for 4 years now. I am upgrading to a Little Mark III. Markbass is simply the best amp I have ever used. From the minute I plugged it in, I knew it was the sound I was looking for, smooth mids, deep lows, and highs that cut through if you want. It is plenty loud enough for any venue. I use an Avatar 1000 watt 4x10 and an Avatar 300 watt 1x12 cabs depending on the show, and it sounds great through both. I had used SWR for many years, and I now realize it sounds harsh compared to the Markbass. I highly recommend this amp.

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
What can I say, I'm a Mark Bass fan for life now. This little amp blows away all the others. I was a die hard Carvin fan before I tried this one. Great for Gigs and just folling around. It actually sounds better thru my carvin cabinet than the carvin!! Great product, great price.

Completely satisfied!
This Little Mark III has all you need and nothing you don't need. Powerful yet light, warm and punchy,
tubey sounding but no tube and very solidly built. I really love the optional bag that allows you to leave the head in it while playing! Can I be any more lazy? Seriously, this amp never gets hot; warm at the most. Has a great D.I. also. Records extremely well.
I just can't think of anything to complain about... and I'm a complainer.
I'm very satisfied with this unit!
Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
I have the Little Mark 3, I was in a live setting playing a slap bass riff and the amp shut off. The power on light was still lit and the fan was going but, no sound. I turned it off then back on and it worked again during slap bass playing it shut off again so I just finished with all finger style no slap, it worked fine? I think the precussive spike (overload at the input signal?) from the slap bass, is trigering a protection shut down circuit. I had the gain at 2:00, master at 10:00, eq was flat, VLE knob was at 9:00, VPF knob was at 12:00, I was using a musicman stingray 5, and 2, cabs 1x12 both 8 ohm. I have owned Ampeg, GK, Fender amps never had a problem like this.
Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
I have actively played and gigged with this head for about 6 months now and I have been blown away! I know this is almost bass heresy but over the last few years Ampeg has gone down in quality and I was seriously considering going for the gusto and buying an Eden World Tour 500 before I played this head at GC! It is PHENOMENAL! It pushes my 1000w Avatar 4x10 with ease and allows me plenty of head room. Trust this product! One more thing, if you are tired of hauling around all of the MASSIVE gear, GET MARK BASS! This 6lb beauty I carry on my back like it is not even there! Save your back and band mates, get this product!
Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
This head does everything I need and more. The power issue is not relevant to me because the direct outs on it get me right to the PA anyways. It's loaded with exactly what you need and nothing more. No worthless bells and whistles so many heads have these days. Serious Markbass tone in a small package. Hands down destroys my GK rig I used to have. Awesome!

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:
If you have a power hungry cab and expect this Little Mark to deliver what the cab needs, you might be disappointed. I have the LM2 which has the exact same power output as the LM3. They're both 500W at 4 ohms.I have been running my LM through a Basson B-210B 500W (at 4 ohms) cab, and the amp's headroom is a bit low. I get way over compressed notes anytime the amp is set for an aggressive sound. It sounds like the notes are being squeezed under a fence and then they come out the other side. I tried to deal with it by putting a VT-Bass pedal before the cab, but the simple fact is that the amp just doesn't have enough headroom to deal with anything aggressive from the pedal, either. You will NEED the HEADROOM.My advice is - don't believe the power rating that Markbass gives this amp. They say it's 500W RMS at 4 ohms, but I think they lied a bit. It won't push a power hungry cab properly. However, it does sound good overall, just don't try to go aggressive. To me, that's a BIG drawback, so I'm looking at Genz Benz Shuttlemax right now (probably the 900 or 600).
