OVERVIEW

Tube or solid state? This head's got 'em both.

The Markbass Little Mark tube amp head gives the warmth and richness of a tube preamp, the clean attack of a solid state preamp, or a mix of both. The bass amp head features a mix control for mixing between a solid state preamp and tube preamp. The result offers a range of sounds, from the crisp, Markbass sound in the solid state, to a heavy tube sound in the tube state, and anything in between. On the front panel there are 2 inputs with separate gain controls: one 1/4" jack, and one combo jack that accepts either an XLR or 1/4". The Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator (VLE) and Variable Preshape Filter (VPF) allow access to a wide array of timbres, from classic tones to modern hi-fi sound. A phantom power switch accompanies the XLR input, for using a microphone on a double bass. Mute control is as simple as a push and a pull on the master volume switch. The Markbass Little Mark has 4 bands of equalization, line out control, and pre/post EQ switch for the XLR out (on the rear panel). Rack ears not included. The bass amp head features a single 6205 miniature tube.

Comments about Markbass Little Mark Tube Bass Amp Head:

after 15 years of pro playing and 10 more as a novice , i have to say the LM tube blew me away right out of the box. i play spector basses into a boss me50b into the LM tube thenn into a swr henry the 8th. with all set flat it was incredible. like a 800rb on juice!!! awesome tube creamy smooth sound that really sounds way better than most all tube heads (and ive owned a ton of em) and still maintains the cut in the mix that solids are known for ... all i can say is so far im blown away with the looks, quality, workmanship, design, and sound .... i give it two thumbs up ....

My second favorite amp ever

Comments about Markbass Little Mark Tube Bass Amp Head:

Why did I title this my "Second Favorite Amp Ever", because I just got the MarkBass Little Mark Tube 800 and with the extra power for my Schroeder cab, it is my #1. These amps are amazing. I have owned Mesa Boogie Big Blocks, Ampegs, SWRs, GKs... and even though the Mesa and Ampegs sound sweet, these amps sound great and are LIGHT!!! I truck mine around in a laptop bag and at 7 lbs, there is no comparison. It is so much nicer than the 55 lb rack I used to carry. The "Tube" sound isn't very noticeable, so going with a LMII or LMIII would work just fine as well.

    Tone Monster

Comments about Markbass Little Mark Tube Bass Amp Head:

Great tone, very flexible. It sounds like you and nothing less. The option of the tube preamp probably isn't necessary for most players though it does add a little warmth when blended 100% tube. The VLE and VPF are much more useful than I initially thought. Build quality is top notch. bottom line: Tone Monster.

Comments about Markbass Little Mark Tube Bass Amp Head:

I don't know where all these bass players come from who rave about these Markbass amps. When Markbass came out I was really excited that there may be another bass head to use besides a pair of SVT CL 300 heads or Mesa Boogie 400 all tube heads. First, I bought the Markbass 503 rack mounted 500W bass head. At Guitar Center it sounded excellent with the volume on 3 and no drumset. Like a fool, I just shelled out some and went home. At my pad I have 2 SVT stacks (810 cabs & 2x15 cabs) & 2 SVT heads. I hook up to one 4ohm cab.and out put was 4 ohm. It sounded excellent in an empty practice room. Really impressive. UNTIL a drummer came to jam and check out my new head. EVERYTHING changed after that. That head turned out to be SUCH fake poser amp!! It could NOT even mix in with the drums. The drummer was beating it into the ground. I had the master volume on 9 and the gain on 9 and the drums drowned the hell out of it and it sounded like someone kicking a cardboard box. In 20 minutes of playing for fun that amp got me so flippin' mad at how limp it sounded....the drummer finally stopped and looked right at me and he says, "You're kidding !!! Is that all its got?!!!! then he got up and opened a beer. I grabbed the head off my cabinet, pulled the cords out and ran it outside in the alley and threw the fake, pretend amp against a brick wall as hard as I could. I didn't even care about the money. Total criminal amp company. About a year later someone gave me one of those littlemark dumptruck amps. Instead of throwing it at a wall, I gave it to a guy who found a bass in a dumpster and told him that amp belongs with his bass. HA. People can argue all they want, when it comes to bass rigs, these things are fact........It has to be CLASS A/B power amp. ALL CLASS D amps are junk. It must be TUBE power amp section. One 12AX7preamp tube DOES NOT make it a tube amp. Any amp that can't mix in with a loud drummer WITHOUT PA help doesn't even count.
