The tone and gain comes from the dual-cascading tube preamp!
The Marshall AVT150X 4-channel combo amp with DFX is one loaded combo: 150 watts of power and 2 separate, 16 digital effects sections! The tube preamp drives the Clean, Overdrive 1, and Overdrive 2 channels with an added acoustic simulator channel (makes any electric sound like an acoustic). Because all 4 channels are footswitchable (switch included), this Marshall amp gives guitarists ample versatility on stage. 2 digital effects sections enhance this flexibility. One section is dedicated to the clean and simulator channels, the other to the overdrive channels. All effects are tweakable via mix, adjust, and select knobs; and are on/off footswitchable. With 150W driving a Celestion 12" (custom-designed for the AVT series), this amp cranks without losing focus. Headphone jack, speaker emulated line out, and an effects loop with level and front-panel mix control. Like all the Marshall AVTs, its preamp section is based on a 12AX7 and delivers great tone. The Marshall AVT150X includes a PEDL-00031 footswitch.

This amp is great! My friend has one and it motivated me to get an AVT275 (just cause its bigger!). Anyways, its a fantastic amp. The two overdrive channels sound incredible and the acoustic sim. adds a little character to a clean guitar. Buy it! You'll love it. Just remember-its not accually a 2x12", its a 1x12"
it has great distorted tone and pretty good surf rock tone, but it still sounds great by itself!well if your getting your first real amp, this is the one to get! Its loud enough for any gig!
I just bought my first amp, that being the Marshall AVT 150X. I have been using a Carvin Amp prior to this one. Let me first say that the effects are nice sounding, and this amp gets LOUD! The foot switch is also very nice, it includes an OD1,OD2, Acoustic Sim, Clean and also OD1/2 DFX and Acoustic Sim DFX. Overall, I would definitely recommend this amp for anyone looking for a good deal and power.
I play with a gibson les paul studio out of this baby and it sounds awesome. Even my p.o.s. warlock sounds good out of it. Everything is what I expected when I ordered it, a top notch amp from a top notch company. Only real problem with this thing is trying to take it anywhere. It's a hassle but for what you get its well worth it.
I bought this amp over the last summer wanting something better sounging and more powerful than the conventional bandit. I got this amp and it is amazing it has great volume and when it is maxed you can still get great sound out of it and its not all distorted. The four channels are awsome giving a wide range of sound. Amazing amp
