OVERVIEW

An homage to ‘90s Marshall tone.

The Marshall DSL-1H 1W tube guitar amp head is part of Marshall’s 50th Anniversary celebration. Even though there were several popular Marshalls in the ‘90s, the JCM2000 DSL100 Dual Super Lead became a truly iconic tone of the decade. Critics hailed it as “the ultimate Marshall” as it straddled past and present so well. The DSL-1H’s dual footswitchable channels pay tonal tribute to that great amp. Featuring Classic Gain and Ultra Gain options with switches for Deep and Tone Shift for further sonic flexibility, just like the original. An output with speaker emulation, FX loop and Low Power (0.1W) switch add even more flexibility.

FEATURES
  • Authentic DSL (Dual Super Lead) tone
  • Two Footswitchable channels – Classic Gain and Ultra Gain
  • Tone Shift button which reconfigures the mids
  • Deep button which adds a resonant bass boost
  • Independent Volume and Gain controls for both channels
  • Shared tone controls for Treble, Middle and Bass
  • Speaker-Emulated Line Output on rear panel
  • Series FX loop (rear panel)
  • 2-ECC82 and 3-ECC83 tubes
  • Low Power switch on the rear panel
  • Era correct cosmetics

Comments about Marshall DSL1 50th Anniversary '90s Era 1W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The Classic Gain Channel shouldn't be called a gain channel at all. The difference is SO minimal. That was my only and MAJOR Con. It's practically weightless and just looks so darn cute, but SCREAMS like a savage beast.

Comments about Marshall DSL1 50th Anniversary '90s Era 1W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Does anyone know if this amp has the Biasing feature of most of the 2000 series amps? Or if the 12AU7's even need to be biased?

Surprisingly loud for a one watt amp. Great tone, great looks, and a nice collector's item.

Comments about Marshall DSL1 50th Anniversary '90s Era 1W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Being a 90's rocker I always find myself drawn back to Marshall tube amps and their iconic sound.

Since I no longer actively gig and predominantly stick to jamming in my home studio this amp is perfectly matched to my need for killer tone in a low(er) volume rig. Don't get me wrong - 1 watt can actually be pretty loud, especially when driving a 4x12" cab! I am using this with a custom built Rocket Cab "Memphis" loaded with a Celestion Gold Alnico speaker.

Maybe I'm just getting old but I must admit it's nice to be able to rock at midnight and still get warm, nuanced and usable tube sounds at home/bedroom levels.

I've tried so many amps in an attempt to find a low wattage, channel switching and relatively full featured amp and this is the ONLY one that has delivered. I could not be happier! Yes, it's expensive but IMHO it's about getting the right tool for your needs.

I still have a DSL40 and a TSL60 and I must say that this little head really captures the spirit of those iconic amps! I also have a JCM900 which is one of my favorite amps of all time and this DSL1 does a really nice job capturing some of those sounds as well.

It has a lot of nice features [read the specs] I just wish it had reverb but I am really happy with the sound I get pairing this with my Wampler "Faux Spring Reverb" stompbox either directly in front of the amp or via the fx loop.

This is one little "special edition" amp I'll be hanging onto!
