Big output and plenty of tonal versatility!

The Marshall MB450H is a powerhouse amp head for your bass. It wallops a massive 450W of total bass power when connected to 2 extension cabinets. All that's left to do now is to choose your preferred choice of cabinets so you can plug in and rock!

Both channels--Modern and Classic--have separate EQ. The Modern channel features bass, treble, parametric mid and a compressor. The Classic channel with its ECC83 preamp valve includes a Boost switch, and it has a 3-band passive tone network with 3 different voices. Like the high-wattage Marshall combo amps, the MB450 bass head has the option of blending the 2 channels either from the front panel or via a supplied 2-way footswitch.

Finally ..a great sounding solid bass amp that you don't need a degree to operate!
Believe me..in the past 35 years I have been through alot of brands ..Ampeg,Ashdown ,Sunn,Swr,Peavey,G&K,Hartke...Just to name a few.
There is even one brand I won't even give the pleasure of mentioning !!!!
Some were easier to get a good sound, some were tough to get a good sound,..Some had plenty of power and some of course did not...
This Marshall MB 450H fits the bill in all areas in my opinion..
2 channels (modern =solid state and classic = tube preamp )...with a blend channel for combining both channels.
I for one love the great solid tone I get from the classic channel and actually have no need to use any other setting....and there is plenty of power to work with for me too...
I usually 2x10 + 1x15 cabs combined and this works perfectly....
The only issue that I have found is that the built in compressor is not the best....in fact actually not very good at all...very noisy and doesnt really do the job well either...
But aside from that It has been just the right amp for me.

I've had this amp for a little while and it took me a while to actually read up on it and find that one channel is solid state and the other tube. I don't like the solid state but the tube channel sounds amazing. It has exactly the tone I enjoy. My only issue with it is it has messed lately. While playing the amp seems to switch to the solid state channel without any indication except the sound. Also the jacks (as with most, maybe all Marshall products) are made of plastic. This is bull spit if you expect this thing to hold up for a long time.
In short, this thing sounds amazing, but I've not been lucky with road worthiness.

    Buy this amp!!!!!

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

I give it a nine just because the Marshall emblem could be attached better for the price... Other than that this amp is the bass players dream! The all tuned tone is fantastic! I got the matching 410 cab with it and it is SSSSSSSOOOOOOOO LOUD!!!!!! It's probably the loudest bass amp I've ever heard! And the classic tone you get from this head is jut so amazing I love it! I was on the fence about buying this becaus I had never played one but I'm so glad I bout this instead of the ampeg SVT900. This amp is amazing. For anyone on the fence about buying this I would highly recommend it. Great amp, great tone, great features. The blend channel is great! If you love Marshall...u wont be disappointed.
It's perfect! You've got everything u need in this amp: modern tone and classic Marshall crunch!
Very solid built amp! The logo on the front looks like it might break but for the amp itself totally perfect!
Worth every penny I spent on it!

Just what the Rock Doc ordered

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

For over 30 years, I've wanted a Marshall Stack to complement my '77 Rickenbacker and thanks to Jim Marshall, my wait was well worth it!I bought this head along with the MBC410 and MBC115 and brother, what a package it is! I have the people at the Weather channel calling me to make sure it is MY thunder and not clouds rumbling. I've played on many "combo" amps through the years but I must say- stacking these Marshall products is the true way to go if you want real power.

I got this head bc i was using a fender combo amp and i joined a band, my guitar player is using a 6505 rig and it just drowned out my sound. So i got this head with a ampeg 8x10 cab and it sounds great im the one drownign out the sound now i would buy this head

    This Bass Marshall Is Awesome

    By Bassman-.9Onu

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

I replaced my old amp that wasn't up to what I needed. I just had trouble getting my sound when I changed to a new bass. The bass stayed, the amp went. This MB450H paired with the MBC410 cab is awesome. It really does cover lows and highs with a clear sound. It is in the tradition of Marshall. The MBC410 cab isn't light, but it is solid and well made. A half stack has 300 watts with one cab. Go to a full stack with a second cab, and you are peeling paint off the walls with 450 watts. A headphone jack is on the front of the head for easy use. This is a serious Amp head. Definitely go for it. The matching cabs set this MB450H for sounds that crunch and pound.

    totally impressed

    By wolf68

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

I was playing an Ampeg B2R through an old Ampeg cabinet and the cabinet blew something. So I decided it was time to buy something new instead of used for once. When I looked again at new Ampeg, the prices were blowing my budget away. I stumbled upon this Marshall head and 410 cab in a local store. I plugged in and was amazed at the deep and clear low tones I was getting. I really dig the setup on the head. The classic/modern options, boost switch, etc. I was able to get it at a more realistic price compared to Ampeg and still get the ampeg tones. When I performed through it at the first show I received kudos from my sound guys which are bass players themselves. They had never heard the Marshall bass equipment. I do agree the head and the cabinet are heavy. I plan to get some wheels installed on the head. I also agree that the compressor button seems to be bunk and does nothing. Overall, I found exactly what I needed and feel the Marshall 450 bass head and 410 cab is a good buy. Amazingly punchy and loud.

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

love it. the clean channel isn't as bad as everyone tries to make it sound. for a clear bass sound its much better than the tube, but I guess if you're getting a Marshall that's not really the point...great for my dinosaur jr. covers, I especially like the footswitch

    awesome head

    By aws_pandemic

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

I bought this cab along with the mbc410 to replace the amp I was using. I had a 100 watt combo amp before this and needed to upgrade because I couldnt compete with my guitarists or drummer. I used to have my old amp turned up to 10 and was worried about blowing the speaker, but I havent gone past a 3 with this new setup so ill never have to worry about that. I was getting a weird buzz when I first hooked everything up, but that turned out to be my instrument cable. That went away once I bought a new one. I also replaced the speaker cable that came with this with a monster cable. Great set-up. The only other thing I plan to do is pick up the mbc115 to finish off the stack. Buy this!

    Awsome amp!!!

    By tom once dead

    from G'hole Australia

Comments about Marshall MB450H 450W Hybrid Bass Head:

In a store, I played on an ashdown mag 300 with 410, trying out some amps. Then I played on this one.The day I bought it home the tube broke, but it was taken back the next day and got repaired, now its good as ever.PRO'sThis is the loudest 450 watt amp ever. the tube preamp sounds like an ampeg, warm bassy but cuts through really well, you can go from a clear crisp tone to a dirty distortion with the flick of the boost button and boosting the gain. The blend feature is really good when you want different tones, I find that is the best way to use the solid state pre amp.Tts got speakon and 1/4" jack outputs which is awsome.CONSThe solid state pre amp. I cant find a good eq, so I mix it with the tube pre amp.Its 450 watts at 2 ohms 300 at 4 ohms 180 at 8 ohms, which means you need to buy 4 ohm cabs to get any form of power, no biggy, just you dont have as wide range of cabs to use.Overall this is an awsome head for the price and is worth getting
