OVERVIEW

Plug in, rock out, and wait for the cops to show up for disturbing the peace.

Artists who have created groundbreaking work, toured every corner of the globe and inspired a whole new generation to pick up a guitar. No-one fits this profile better than Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. Now Mustaine and Marshall have teamed up to deliver the Dave Mustaine signature MG Microstack”the MG15FXMSDM or Megastack for short. Like the man himself, this solid-state amplifier demanded the best possible analogue tone while taking advantage of revolutionary digital control.

The Marshall Megastack from the MG series was inspired by two different pieces of gear: the MG15FX Microstack, and the 1960DM Dave Mustaine signature speaker cabinet, which features a carbon-fiber covering, diamond-design grille, and lots of Mustaine-inspired tone. The esteemed guitarist worked intensively with the Marshall development team and created 4 main sounds as the default patches and hid 4 additional tones in the amp's memory. Dave Mustaine duplicated the main sounds of his touring rig, for a total of 8 channels: 2 clean, 3 rhythm, and 3 lead solos. These tone patches will almost perfectly deliver solo sounds to perform screaming guitar shreddage.

Like all the guitar amplifiers in Marshall's MG range, state-of-the-art manufacturing and stringent quality control procedures ensure that the Marshall Dave Mustaine Megastack meets the high standard of build you have come to expect from all Marshall products. No matter if this is your first ever Marshall. The tone, flexibility and feel of this compact and rugged Marshall stack is guaranteed to deliver the goods.

Switches
The Clean/Crunch Switch selects between Clean (green) and Crunch (red) channels. The OD Switch selects between OD1 (green) and OD2 (red) channels. The Tap (Manual) Switch matches the delay FX time to the time between two pushes. The LED flashes at the selected delay time. Holding down the Tap switch for longer than 2 seconds switches the amp between manual and preset mode. When using the optional foot controller, holding both the Tap switch and the Store switch will activate the tuner. The Store Switch Stores the current amp settings into the current channel or into the optional foot controller.

Controls and EQ
The Marshall Megastack Distortion Control controls the amount of signal entering the preamp and the amount of distortion created in the selected channel. The Reverb Control lets you add a lush reverb to the selected channel, from a subtle hint to cavernous and all points in-between. The FX Control selects and adjusts one of four effects: Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, and Delay. The Low Control adds warmth and low-end depth to your sound, the Mid Control will vary the amount of body in your sound, and the High Control will make your sounds brighter and more cutting, turning it down will decrease your tone's edge and make it sound softer as a result.

The MP3 Line In lets you jam to your favorite MP3, CD, or tape track by connecting a line or headphone output. Adjust the volume of your player to match that of your guitar and you've got the perfect 'playalong' practice system. The Headphone socket (stealth Mode) is helpful for use when silent practice is the order of the day. Connection of Stealth Mode will automatically mute the internal speaker.

Finished in the same distinctive style as the Marshall 1960DM Signature Dave Mustaine speaker cabinets, the MG15FXMSDM makes for a menacing microstack indeed.

Marshall MG15FXMSDM

By Ethan Simpson

from Oregon, USA

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG15FXMSDM Dave Mustaine Megastack Amp Head And Cabinet:

I played this amp for about 2 hours at my local music store. Now, it is a loud son of a gun, very crunchy and very useable tones.

The cleans are very well taylored and adding any of the included effects, sounds very good, definately enhances without overwhelming.

The overdrive on the crunch channel is rather disappointing, it doesnt do very much, you can hardly get any gain out of it, anymore then a bluesy tubescreamer-ish tone.

The OD 1 channel had decent breakup and a nice distortion, but its didnt have much variability in it. It sounds similar to a 90s solid state crate amp, kinda brittle.

The OD 2 had more gain and more variability on the EQ, but the gain on it wasnt what i was looking for. it didnt have any saturation to it and would need an overdrive pedal in order to get any really good saturated lead sound.

All in all this is a decent amp, but its gain structure wont work for much other then the Megadeth Style, for any other Marshall sound that you might want, i would go with a standard MG series or the Vintage Modern Series which ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Great practice amp!

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG15FXMSDM Dave Mustaine Megastack Amp Head And Cabinet:

I'm also a big fan of Megadeth so naturally, this amp was intriguing. I'm glad I got it! I love the look of this microstack and everything about it. I'm pretty happy with all the channels. The cleans are chimey and chorusy. The metal is seething and aural. I only play clean and metal anyways, so this amp tailors to that perfectly. It gets suprisingly loud as well for a 15 watt ss amp.

This product is made in Vietnam.

I'm thinking of swapping the stock speakers with Eminence Redcoat Ramrod 10" speakers when the time comes.

Irritating the neighbors since i got it

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG15FXMSDM Dave Mustaine Megastack Amp Head And Cabinet:

I have a tendency to change subjects a the drop of a hat...beware while reading:This is my first decent amp...so this amp seems amazing to me, and im sure its pretty dang awesome to anybody that happens to purchase it. I bought this amp, not because i like megadeth, but because i love dave's tone. i was slightly disappointed that it wasnt a perfect dave mustaine tone, but i was using a much different guitar. this amp has a lot of bite to it. i mean a LOT of bite to it (fixed by turning down distortion a bit, and mids a lot) and souunds amazing on almost any setting. i love the fact that you can save all the settings for later use. the volume on this is great, it doesnt get really loud untill you hit about 5 on the master volume knob, but once you do...be careful, unbelievable power from this little bugger. and just to clear up a little confusion, it comes with a megadeth sweatband, a couple megadeth stickers, a guest pass, and 5 dunlop medium guitar picks. i thought it came with a footswitch..but i guess not

Mega Good Amp

By killerkellum33

from Grandview/ TN

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG15FXMSDM Dave Mustaine Megastack Amp Head And Cabinet:

As a huge Megadeth fan and collector, I had to have this amp. The construction seams to be of the highest quality. I might add that this is my first Marshall. The appearance and trim is awesome, very "metal", steel/diamond cutout speaker screens and carbon fiber like vinal covering. The tone is very good, although with the gain up on OD, the speaker tends to hiss. I believe it has to do with the active pickups in my guitar though. The preset tones are awesome and having the footswitch unlocks four more awesome "Megadeth" tones. The amp effects are good ,but there are other modeling amps out there that have much more preset channels and effects for the same money. The amp doesn't quite get loud enough for me. You will not be giging with this amp. Great practice amp overall.
