I have been playing as a hobbyist for 25 years and could never get the right distortion/tube sound. It is about time...this thing is great, much better than I ever thought possible. Finally a true pedal that covers just about everything I play...Blues, acdc, queen, zepplin, skynard, ozzie...all of it. If you have trouble getting the sound...this is it.

Maybe bad luck once, but twice? First box I ordered would'nt power up. I sent it back for an exchange, and a month later it arrived. I knew I was in trouble when I pulled it out of the box, and I heard a rattling noise. Sure enough it powered up, but did nothing but hum. I dont know if its MI's QC dept. to blame, or just rough handling. In any event it seems to me that if the box cant make it from the manufacturer to the customer in working order, how well do think it would stand up to the rigors of gigging?

Marshall In A Box

This is a really great pedal for any kind of music. It nails that marshall in my opinion even better than the marshall stompboxes. Combined with my tube screamer my guitar just screams!

I am always amazed by this pedal. It completely nails the JCM 800 sound. I use it with a Dr. Z Maz JR and it sounds amazing. The internal presence control is also really nice. MI Audio really does a great job on all of their pedals.

The Ultimate Marshall-in-a-box

First off, I use this pedal through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 212, and I've replaced the stock speakers with Eminence Texas Heat speakers. I usually play through a Gibson SG faded or Epiphone Les Paul, but I also occasionally pull out a Fender strat with Texas Special pickups. The MI Audio Crunch Box is the best distortion pedal I've ever used. I've tried a lot of distortion pedals, including the Marshall Guv'nor and Jackhammer, trying to find a pedal that will turn my Fender cleans into Marshall overdrive, and my search ended with the Crunch Box. The gain is very useable at all levels, so if you're looking for a more mild, Marshall Plexi crunch sort of sound, the crunch box will do it. If, like me, you're usually after a higher gain sound, like a Marshall JCM800 or Jubilee, then the Crunch Box also will do it extremely well. The Crunch Box also adds some mids and bass to your tone to emulate that classic Marshall sound. If you're into scooping your mids, the Crunch Box probably isn't for you. All my guitars sound great using the Crunch Box into my Fender, through Humbucker pickups are necessary to get that real Marshall crunch. I gave it a 4.5 out of 5 on features because there is a presence knob, but it's on the inside of the pedal, so it's a real pain to adjust. MI Audio should have just wired up a knob and put it on the front of the box. But the presence isn't something you really need to be adjusting a lot anyways so it's not a big deal. Basically, if you want your amp to sound like a Marshall Plexi or JCM800, or if you need a pedal to make your Marshall rock at lower volumes, the crunch box is your pedal. Again, the Marshall pedals don't even begin to compare with the Crunch Box when it comes to producing the sound and crunch that has kept Marshall famous all these years.

Great Distortion!

I play a lot of church/alternative styles and this thing is GREAT. I have the v1, which has been improved with the current version 2. The gain is awesome on this pedal...you can go from very little/no dirt to almost a good fuzz level, even with the higher output Les Paul pickups. It also sounds great with a Strat, from just barely any crunch to massive over-the-top distortion. The Tone knob has been improved quite a bit in Version 2 as well. It is punchy, and clear, and it sounds awesome with a boost pedal for solos. For you P&W folks and you main stream rock folks, this is a great pedal. You won't regret this one.I cannot imagine what I would get in the same price range to replace mine. It's built like a tank, and I believe it is true bypass. No tone sucking here! Give it a try! Happy riffin...

MI Audio Finally on Musicians Friend???

The Crunch Box is an excellent distortion pedal to add to any board, it might be a little more nichey than other distortion pedals, but that's why I love to buy pedals, each one is unique in its own way. MI Audio has a great line of products, the boys down under really have a good thing going. I've played with the Crunch Box, the Blues Pro, and the Tube Zone, and all perform extremely well. This Crunch Box can go from a lower gain overdrive range to screaming Marshall stack territory. Seriously, it does what it says, and it does it well. I will say that the tone control for me is less than perfect, I wish I had better control over the bottom end, but there is a great sweep.

Marshall in a box

This pedal is great. The only thing I would change is for a high, low, mids tone control to be added in place of the single tone knob. That would make this pedal so versatile. If you play classic rock to early 90's metal. This fits the bill.

Cool to oh so hot!

I have used this overdrive crunch box for about three months. I call it overdrive because it works much like an o/d, But this thing gets real hot real fast to blow your mind sustain. Sweet tone sweep as well, not fizzy or buzzy sounding like most distortion pedals. Gain structure and volume work exellent .Perfect for over the top lead work to stand out in a crowd. Blows me away really! Best move I ever made, my hat's off to MI audio. awesome! The search is finaly over!
