Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
Noisy, but no volume drop. The sound has a narrow amount of Chorus control as it goes from light chorus to heavy pretty quick. Mine has a sticker on the bottom that reads True Bypass. Overall, I still miss my old Boss CE-2 and will keep looking. Maybe I'll build a kit.
Features are the basic ones you'd need. No frills like a switchable LED powered Depth increase or Stereo out.
Paint, enclosure, knobs, and battery snap are all nice. But if you open the little guy up its a dissapointment. Surface mounted computer style components mean you are not gonna mod your Modtone. Everything is board mounted so don't misstomp.
Boutique? Period correct components? No. If you want SMD type parts Get a Dano as they aren't pretending to be anything they are not. If you could filter out the noise it could be O.K. Maybe at a lower price point digital would be the best option for low noise and bang for your buck.
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
I was looking for a Boss CE-2 type of chorus sound, and this is a pretty decent approximation, but it's such a tone-suck, I don't really use it. I'm not one of those who just assumes true-bypass is always better (b/c it's NOT always better), but the buffer in this pedal is SO bad, it's not worth keeping in the chain. I'm considering having it made true-bypass, but how hard would it have been for ModTone to have actually made it that way in the first place (like they claim for all their pedals!)? In short, the chorus sound sounds good enough that you might still consider buying this, but the tone loss is severe enough that you better have a plan to counteract that one, very significant downside.
A two-knob chorus in a small form factor is exactly what I wanted, so it's good enough for me in this regard.
Overall, constructed quite well - pretty rugged, good jacks, "bullet-proof" chassis, etc. There's just one big flaw internally that I'll get to later.
If you can get one used, it has the potential to be worth your money. If you buy one full price, it's no better than average.
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
not true bypass, lots of tone loss. very loud hiss when turned on. would not recommend.
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
As one of the other reviewers stated this pedal is very noisy! Maybe my unit was somewhat defective but the hiss this pedal produces when turned on makes it totally unusable! I literally stepped on it, played for a minute, and boxed it up for return!
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
Unlike many of the other reviews, I think this is a good pedal. It works well for me, adds a bit of depth and fullness to my sound, and I don't notice tone loss. It is a rather sensitive pedal...it gets "warbly" a bit quicker than other pedals I've had. I use it in my pedal chain between guitar and amp, not in my effects loop. It's built well and does the job for me.
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
First let me say I have the modtone vintage delay and it is a great pedal. Based on that I purchased the aqua chorus thinking it would be just as good. I didn't read that this is not a true bypass pedal it is buffered. the chorus itself sounds good but on or off it drops your signal very noticeably, it just takes away a lot of your amp dynamics. If you play a quality tube amp you will not want this in your signal path, spend some extra cash and purchase one that is true bypass. If you don't care that much about your tone then this may work. hey modtone, make all your pedals true bypass and I'm in.

This pedal did what i wanted it to do and sounds great. I ran threw effects loop sounded bad ran it straight from guitar to amp awesome. The tuner is a great pedal also MODTONE is good stuff.
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
This pedal makes an incredible amount of noise when i kick it on. If you have a noise suppressor or smart gate then go for it kuz its a decent pedal aside from the noise but my god does this make a lot of noise. If you want to hear this pedal i may put up a video of how loud this thing is on youtube and you can email me for the details
Comments about Modtone MT-CH Aqua Chorus Pedal:
I got the Modtone Aqua Chorus for Christmas this year. It's well built and looks good, but the sound is what matters most. The chorusing effect works as it should, it's just it's extremely muddy. Hopefully it's mod-able, otherwise this Christmas gift may be ebay-bound.
