OVERVIEW

A versatile volume pedal with a variable range setting and an aux output.

The ModTone MT-VOL Xcelerator volume pedal features a long taper parametric potentiometer that lets you add just a dash of volume dip all the way to complete signal shutoff. With the variable range setting, the volume pedal allows you to back off a little on rhythm and crank it up for leads, emulate a sweeping tremolo or use the aux output section for line out to a tuner or use both at unity for a stereo splitter when using two amps. The ModTone Xcelerator pedal is much more than your average volume pedal!

FEATURES
  • Long taper parametric potentiometer
  • Variable range setting

The pedal itself does exactly as advertised. I heard no sound loss in my signal chain, but got swells going right out of the box. I'd personally go for a used ernie ball over this(more fluid motion for swells) but this will do the job just fine.
It does it's job really well. The range knob is almost useless in my opinion, but im sure others would find it quite usefull for quick boosts.
Even though the chassis is made of metal, it feels like plastic. I know it's not going to break, but it used to squeak before I adjusted it with an allen wrench. Sound wise, this thing delivers. No signal droop or coloration. Impressive for a passive device.
This price is very good for a new pedal. It's such a simple function that

Did I get a Bad one? Volume does not go all the way off :(

I am not too impressed .. maybe I got a bad one and maybe I read too much into Modtone's feature description "Dual outputs allow for splitting signal".Read complete review

I am not too impressed .. maybe I got a bad one and maybe I read too much into Modtone's feature description "Dual outputs allow for splitting signal".

The BAD
1) Wish the one I got would go to complete silence when heal is pressed down. I tried adjusting the knob and had no effect....the pedal I have does not go to zero volume. This is a basic pedal I am thinking it was not designed to do this so .. bad quality control?

2) I read "Dual outputs allow for splitting signal" and assumed I could use this for splitting the signal between two different amps ... heal down 100% to Amp1 .. toe down 100% to amp2 and the in between pedal positions could mix the two amps ... Wrong doesn't do this at all. The Aux output is basically a pass through as it is on all the time at full volume and the pedal/knob position has no affect on the Aux Out. You would think a customer could come to this conclusion by reading there description but it is not clear.

3) Tried sending a message on Modtone's support site and the web app for sending a message kept screwing up.

The Good:
1) Doesn't seem to suck any tone if you want to go from 10-100% volume.

I am going to give it 3 stars as it kink of works

Comments about Modtone MT-VOL Xcelerator Volume Pedal:

I have had this pedal for about 9 months and I'm glad I bought it. I have used and abused it and it still has the same sound it had when I got it. The tough steel casing (not plastic)feels very professional. These modtone pedals are fantastic at any price but it helps they don't break the bank. I have the metal pedal and wah also and I would buy them all again if they were stolen.

      good volume pedal

Comments about Modtone MT-VOL Xcelerator Volume Pedal:

I wanted a volume pedal and read reviews and tried several others before buying the Modtone and I'm satisfied.
For the price this thing is great. The tuner out works great and allows silent tuning when the volume pedal is all the way down. The minimum volume knob works as advertised and is a great feature to have.
Ignore reviews that say this thing is plastic, they are wrong (or the product has been changed). This pedal is made from metal and feels very solid. The resistance of the pedal can be adjusted with an allen wrench that is included.
good product + relatively low cost = good value

I like the volume button on the side of the pedal and it has nice smooth action on the swells going from lowest to loudest setting.
It's built good and sturdy with a metal casing.
It's a great value for a the money. Very affordable.

Comments about Modtone MT-VOL Xcelerator Volume Pedal:

The only reason I gave 2 stars is for the sturdy metal housing. The trim knob is useless. The volume stays quiet until the end of the pedal sweep when it comes on all at once. I nearly blew out my bass players ear drums.

Comments about Modtone MT-VOL Xcelerator Volume Pedal:

A simple, easy-to-use volume pedal. Looks good and does it job. Only one minor setback: the pedal doesn't turn quite as smoothly as I'd like. But it's still perfectly responsive, so it's not a real issue.
