The Modtone Vintage Wah does what it's name insinuates. It has a great tone that gives you a vintage vibe. The halo inductor gets really close to the wah pedals of the 1960s.
I love the LED indicator and the ability to adjust the stiffness of the treadle. I didn't think too much of the LED until I actually used this pedal. You'd think you can tell when the pedal is on by your tone, but sometimes you're in a rush and just plug in and play and you won't notice it's on until it's too late. That's where the LED helped out. I haven't adjusted the stiffness yet because it felt good right out of the box, but I love that I can if I ever want to. I did adjust the sweep signal. I like my wah to be more on the brighter side. It's also got a battery compartment AND an input for an adapter which is a must for a good pedal.
I got this pedal because it was the same price as the modern Crybaby. I've had 6 different wah pedals before this. I've had a Vox v847, Vox Clyde McCoy, modern Crybaby, Original Crybaby, and a Morley wah. The modern Crybaby worked best for me. The never became scratchy and it gave me a great sound. I thought the Modtone would be along the same line.
The only con is the mod tone has a narrower sweep than some other wah pedals I've used. I don't mind too much since I don't use it in extreme, but I love having a wider sweep as an option.
With that said, this is a great pedal for the price and you save money on modding the pedal by having the LED and treadle adjuster already in it. I recommend this pedal.

The pedal I got did not have a balanced wah sound. With the pedal fully depressed gave me a big volume boost. Backing off just a little gave me a big volume drop and all the way back the volume was ridiculously low and muddy.
Bypass gave me a moderate treble increase in tone.
I've been playing gigs for almost 40 yrs. I wanted a newer wah pedal to upgrade from my 20 year old worn out Cry Baby.
Don't waste your money on this imitation pedal.

Comments about Modtone MT-WAH Vintage Wah Pedal:

It's a good, warm sounding wah. Probably a better deal than a crybaby at the price level, and definitely an "easier" entry level wah than the Vox models. Similar sound to Vox, doesn't remind me of modern Cry Babies as much. I wish the switch had a bit more a kthunck feel to it when engaged and disengaged. I'd rather be able to feel it turning off and on than have to double check the LED everytime. Other than that, no complaints. Not sure how it will stand up to the test of time, so I'll recommend it for now. But we'll see.

Comments about Modtone MT-WAH Vintage Wah Pedal:

This pedal had the allure of already being true bypass and having the upgraded inductor. The major downfall of my purchase was that the sound cuts in and out. It was defective right out of the box and there were no signs of a rough shipment or anything.

I'll not replace this pedal when I return it. Too risky for the money.

Comments about Modtone MT-WAH Vintage Wah Pedal:

This is a pretty awesome wah. I doubt there are many other choices for a true bypass wah at this price. Also it has quite a broad sweep that sounds very vox-like at the heel and very crybaby-like at the toe. The only thing I didn't like about the construction was that the rubber stopper at the heel is completely in the way of the hex nut that adjusts the treadle. I had to pop off the stopper and then glue it back on later. The overall sound is not quite as smooth and clear as the Budda wah, but for the cost of the Modtone wah I just don't think you can do better. This wah covers a wide array of styles and sounds equally good with single coils as with humbuckers.

Comments about Modtone MT-WAH Vintage Wah Pedal:

In a nutshell this captures the sound of a vintage Thomas Organ Crybaby, but has modern features like true bypass, adjustable treadle, and LED indicator.

The case seems the same thickness and size as a dunlop wah, but is much lighter, to the point where modtone adds a few weight plates to the heel area.

                MT Wah so so

Comments about Modtone MT-WAH Vintage Wah Pedal:

I want true bypass, so I will be spending more money on a better quality pedal.
                Standard basic wah pedal
I bought one and the on off switch went bad within one hour. So I sent it back and received another one. It works, but the on off switch is so cheep that it rattles. It could be heard by my band mates even durring a song at mediun loudness. I like the wah sound, just don't like the cheep quality of parts.
The price is cheep. But so is the pedal.

I just received my wah the other week. I used to use the ME-70's and the Weeping Demon but this wah's tone was more down my alley. No knobs to deal with, just straight vintage tone. It is voiced in between the Vox and Dunlop in its price range. I highly recommend it.
