This works great as that low gain grit for Stratocaster and Telecaster single coils. Saves space too.

Comments about Mooer Blues Crab Classic Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm really digging this pedal. For the last year or two, my setup has involved combining a Klon clone and an MI Audio Crunch Box clone to give myself a few different gain stages from almost perfectly clean up to raunchy roar. But the Crunch Box had way more gain than I needed for that kind of stacking. Turning the gain knob up on it at all almost instantly got me into raunchy roar territory. Not so with the Blues Crab. It definitely can get there and absolutely LOVES being pushed by my Klon. But it's also really happy to just add some simmer by itself with the gain set at noon and the volume down a touch on my guitar. That's exactly what i wanted. It does color my tone just a tiny bit, but in a really nice crisp way. It's not wooly or mid-humpy at all. I'm digging it!

Comments about Mooer Blues Crab Classic Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Mooer is a proudly Chinese company, but they make amazing, high-value, high-quality pedals. I now own 7 of their Micro Series stompboxes, and this one is definitely my favorite. It copies the Marshall Bluesbreaker. If you play a Strat or Tele (or similar), and you do a lot of classic blues types of tunes, this is the pedal you want. It just gives you "that sound". Very easy to dial in your tone, ranging from "a tad warm" to "grit", very responsive. And Mooer builds their tiny pedals like tanks. I can't say enough good things about Mooer, and this pedal in particular.

Comments about Mooer Blues Crab Classic Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the best Overdrive Pedal I have found. It doesn't color your sound. I use it for a soft clipping effect. It will do everything from clean OD boost, to soft clipping, to bluesy crunchy overdrive. I find it works best for soft clipping. The size is a plus for crowded pedalboards.

Comments about Mooer Blues Crab Classic Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great little pedal. I originally bought it because I heard such great things about the Marshall Bluesbreaker 1.0 that I had to try this one. I was not disappointed. I play a stock strat with classic 60's alnico single coil pickups through a Fender Blues Deluxe amp. This little pedal has become my "always on" pedal because it enhances the tone. It's very transparent and gives every note and chord a lot more definition and presence. It can get a little bright so I back off the tone just a bit on the pedal and the guitar itself. I played with it last night at a gig and got many compliments on my tone as being a classic fender strat sound. i haven't used it as a source of distortion but I use a Maxon OD-9 tubescreamer and they play VERY well together. With the OD-9 I get that nice creamy overdrive and mid hump that cuts through the band. I play the Mooer Blues Crab at with everything at about 12 o'clock but the gain knob is very useful. When you increase it, it becomes a nice tight overdrive. Mooer seems like they are doing a good job of making their affordable versions of discontinued, or classic stomp boxes.

Comments about Mooer Blues Crab Classic Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Basically a Marshall Bluesbreaker clone in a compact package. Like the original, it's best at mild overdrive through a clean amp. Think "JTM-45" not "JCM-800."

If you have a good tube amp, set it so that you're just at the edge of break-up and use the Blues Crab to push you into light overdrive. Once it's on, you can still clean it up by rolling down the volume on the guitar. Nicely touch-sensitive.

Keep, in mind that (like all Mooer pedals) it's too small to fit a battery inside, so you'll need to budget for an external power adaptor. Also, the smaller knobs are hard to use and impossible to read. But that's the trade-off for the tiny size.
