Good amp

By K P

from Wisconsin

Comments about Motion Sound KP-200S Keyboard Amp:

Well, this amp is a good amp with plenty of volume. It is difficult to get any distortion from the amp. I would consider recommending it to a friend if they would fix the knobs and add some support for FX.
The stereo enhancer really makes my leslie emulator purr!
The speakers are very reliable. However, the knobs are easily bumped and seem loose. After a year of use, the knobs are loose and have some bad spots.
The sound is loud and clear from this amp. There is no hiss from the newer models-this was a problem with the earlier amps that was rectified as a rolling design change prior to my purchasing the amp in 2005. I know, because the distributor that I bought mine from lent an old unit to me while mine was in transit, and it had a significant hiss.

Great sounding PRO keyboard amp

By Yello Zebra

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Motion Sound KP-200S Keyboard Amp:

This amp is very well built and perfect for the touring keyboardist. Lots of inputs (4 sets of stereo ins, XLR mic in, click in), great stereo sound, plenty of power to hear yourself over your deaf drummer, and a well engineered design. Recessed handles on the side help to transport its hefty 55lbs. A bit pricey, but the amp is built to last.

excellent sound, tough construction

By keybanger

from San Francisco

Comments about Motion Sound KP-200S Keyboard Amp:

This thing is built like a tank. Sound wonderful. Accurate reproduction. No hiss (maybe the critics got some from a bad batch). Lots of inputs, subwoofer out, xlr line outs. The best stereo field available in a small amp. Pro touring quality--you can't break it if you try. Buy this amp and you'll never need to buy another.

excellent keyboard amp

By buystoomuch

from Northern California

Comments about Motion Sound KP-200S Keyboard Amp:

I have used this live for several years, and it provides a beautiful tone, plenty of clean power, and a much broader stereo split than you would expect. It might seem overpriced compared to offerings from other manufacturers, but it is built like a tank. It easily withstands the rigors of the road. It will outlast any keyboards you play through it.

Mediocre Keyboard Amplifier

By quesoso

from Berkeley, CA

Comments about Motion Sound KP-200S Keyboard Amp:

There is nothing special about this amplifier. It doesn't sound good. There is an audible persistent hiss. I opened up the cabinet to look inside, and the electronics looked very haphazardly wired. It feels cheaply made. It's heavy as hell. Nobody is going to notice stereo from this unit at a gig. You're better off with a PA system. Save the cash, save your back.

Mediocre

By quesoso

from Berkeley, CA

Comments about Motion Sound KP-200S Keyboard Amp:

This is a mediocre amplifier. It's way, way overpriced. I've taken apart the amp to see what it's made of, and it's nothing special at all. It looks handwired, and there are wires soldered between points to fix mistakes on the printed circuit board. It's pretty heavy, most people will want to get casters to move this around comfortably. They're expensive if you want to order from Motion Sound, and you have to drill the mounting holes yourself. At least the handles on the sides are heavy duty. The sound quality is so-so. There is a highly audible hiss when you turn the master gain up about midway, and that's even with the resistor modification suggested on their website. You really need to crank up the gain to get a decent volume out of this amp. If you want stereo imaging, you might be better off getting two separate amps. You'll have better control over placement, and it'll be easier to transport. The build quality is poor. You can tell just by looking at it. The knobs feel week. The speaker cover is easily damaged because of how it sticks out at an angle. At this price, you can do a lot better.
