OVERVIEW

The Dime® Distortion”not subtle, not pretty.

When Dimebag Darrell of Pantera first exploded on the scene, he ushered in a new era of tone and attitude. When it comes to guitar, Dime doesn't need a "warm" or "pretty" sound. He can't be bothered with "vintage" this or "boutique" that. He wants a heavy, aggressive, razor-sharp tone that can slice through a loud band and a louder crowd. It's a tone that rages with distortion but remains tight and focused enough to keep up with lightening-fast rhythm lines and face-melting solos.

Finally there's a pedal that can deliver all that: the The Dime Distortion from MXR. Crank the gain, boost the lows and highs, and hit the Scoop switch for a rhythm tone that will annihilate. Dial the mids back in and mow down the competition with a lead sound that can penetrate steel. If it still hasn't gotten heavy enough for you, stick the Dime in front of a distorted amp and experience sustain and sonic mayhem that's so over the top it should come with a warning label.

First off let's get one thing straight: if you wish to buy this pedal plug it right in and hope to get Dime's tone, you're sadly mistaken. This pedal requires quite some time to get used to and dial in your tone. Mess around with the amp's EQ, the pedal's knobs, maybe combine the pedal with your amp's distortion channel and you will get the tone you want.Overall this pedal is worth the money!!

I bought this pedal. It is alright but Dimes sound was really tapered by his Furman PQ-4 Parametric EQ's through Solid State Amps at that time. If you like this Dime Distortion more power to you. But for me it was a little mushy and it didn't seem to have much contras or range to it. I sold mine. While I had it I ran it through a 5150 II and Marshall JCM 800 50 watter. For me what has worked best is some EQ through the SEND and RETURN of an amp and it has made the sound much larger and cleaner too as opposed to running a boost of some sort through the Instrument input.

the Dime Distortion pedal will rock you to the bone. It'll make your ears bleed. Great sound, really versatile, love the scoop switch and gives you a piece of Dime's sound. Way more versatile than most metal pedals out there. Cheers' Dime.

If you can't get Dime's sound out of this you should quit now. I got it with this and my ESP KH-2 and Dime 333. Great pedal and I love the fact that it comes with it's own power supply.

Okay, first of all, if you are buying this to sound like or be Dime, just give up now, there will never be another Dimebag Darrell and everybody should have their own sound. I looooovvvveeee this pedal. Excellent high end razorwire solos and straight up grizzly bear low end crunch. A must for any metal musician. The mid switch does wonders for scooped playing as well. One note, when you first get this pedal, start with the output on 0 and work your way up, I'm serious, you can blow a speaker with this thing. I would advise anybody to buy this.

            UHH....I'M A LITTLE SPEECHLESS

Comments about MXR DD-11 Tribute Dime Distortion:

My rig consists of a Krank Krankenstien head, a Marshall 1960 four twelve cab, and a Dean Shadow ML(stock pups) with Floyd. I have tried every combination I can think of to get 'that' sound. Not so much Dime's sound, but that 'tearing metal' sound. A sound that lets your picking nuances shine through with awesome gain to back it up without getting muddy. When I got the Dime Distortion pedal tweaked out with my head I was utterly speechless; I didn't want to talk, just play. Dime's tone and energy are definitly in there just waiting for your fingers. I am completely satisfied with this pedal. If it breaks, I will buy a new one immediately. Along with the scoop mids switch this pedal allows you to go from rock and roll to metal with a push of a button. Really folks, unbelievable.

Comments about MXR DD-11 Tribute Dime Distortion:

I love this pedals. The only one among several I own that eliminates unwanted excessive mids like in my MGDFX 50. You have to know how to tweak it. That are several ways to adjust the Eq functions due to it's parametric features. If you "crank" the low, knobb and lower the volume it boosts the gain signal tremendously instead of getting "bassy". Yes, tones of gain and tweakability. BUY it!!

Comments about MXR DD-11 Tribute Dime Distortion:

This peddle is great for my amp because my amp really dosn't have that great distortion no it. This pedal has awesome amount of gain but it dosn't really have that dime tone. What I do is turn all the eq knobs down and use it as a straight distortion pedal. This pedal really fits me.

            Gut Wrenching!!

            By VanillaG20

Comments about MXR DD-11 Tribute Dime Distortion:

The DD-11 will NOT give you the coveted Dime sound. It comes close mind you... but the setting in the manual isn't close to it. IMO make your own... spend about an hour tweaking your amp to it... you can get sounds ranging from Jimmie H to Randy R and if you tweak enough the Godfather himself Dime. Overall the pedal is VERY small(ideal for a crammed pedal case like mine) very well built, and glow in the dark words so you know where your bass/mid/treble etc is in the dark. Expensive, but it's worth it for a clean distortion w/ low to no feedback. If you want that Dime sound you need atleast 1 10 band EQ, and Never put the mids past 4 on your amp otherwise it's muddy and you're not getting the sound you should out of it. All in all great buy, great pedal, it's an MXR... can't go wrong.

Comments about MXR DD-11 Tribute Dime Distortion:

This is the first pedal (besides my Crybaby) that I have ever owned and I think I have found the mother load of guitar shred pedals. SMALL BUT MIGHTY: This thing takes up like...No floor space? It is intense. Highs are high, mids are sculpted and lows are really heavy. Very nice.
