solved my problems

Features:

I put together a pedal board with all true bypass pedals. I thought that this was a wonderful idea. They say the downside of true bypass is signal loss and high end drop. Well they are right and to the extreme. I knew I was going to need a buffer perhaps even two in the signal chain. Even without using any boost the buffer restored my signal .... the rest is just a bonus.

Quality:

MXR .... enough said. Built like a brick but just the right size for a board. Well done MXR.

Value:

How do you put a price on getting your true signal?

Quite a bargain.

Overall:

Just a great bit of engineering.

MXR 10 Band EQ

Features:

Just ordered this wonderful little device a couple of days ago (recommendation from a friend) and received it today.  Hooked it up as soon as the UPS driver delivered it to my Fender Princeton 65 Reverb and oh what a difference.  As yall know everyones ear is different when it comes to the sound and the tone that you demand and want to hear from amp for the style of music you play.  This little jewel will allow you to shape and mold into your amp the exact output sound that you want to a tee.  Speaking of tees, the Masters is on TV and I'm writing this review, tells you how impressed I am with little compact EQ.  I have always been a tube amp fan and we even hooked it up to my buds solidstate amp and it worked wonders with that as well.  In my opinion, you can live without this device.  At the price you pay for it (which is cheap) it will save you time, gas, and money looking for the amp that will provide the sound you want.  Note: the acoustics are different for every room and this thing can adjust for that too.  I was also very impressed with it's size (it's tiny) and the weight of this thing (it's heavy), which compared to it's size tells me it a quality product and the casing could probably stop small arms fire....  Get this pedal - you won't be sorry....

Quality:

The thing is built like a tank....

Value:

Cheap at half the price....

Overall:

Out of a 10, it's a ten....

This is what you are missing

Features:

Has all you want in a stompbox EQ.  Lighted slilders are a HUGE plus.  Let the other effects to their thing.

Quality:

Have always liked MXR heavy metal construction

Value:

For a little more money you get to look at lighted sliders.  I'm a sucker for graphic a light show.

Overall:

I was not prepared for how well this unit grabs the tones I was lookiing for.  It can tame the angry fizzy bees and take things back to classic rock or adjust to more modern deep growl.  Also, it will shape the sound at lower house-level volumes when practicing with the tube amp.  I run this in the effects loop for reasons you can research.   If you are not happy with your amp, give this a try.  I think your ears will smile.

This thing is a monster!!! With the ten band equalizer, and gain, you can pretty much get whatever tone you need. I play alot of hardcore metal, crank the mids down, boost the lows, you got all the metal you'll ever need! Awesome heavy growl! Sounds great on the clean! Paired with the Metal Muff, Yey baby!!!! Built solid, looks slick, even comes with an adapter! Well worth the price tag, spend the extra bucks!

Good piece of gear

Features:

Volume and gain in addition to 10 adjustable bands gives you lots of flexibility in coloring your tone. Hardwire bypass with minimal tone sucking when off is a plus, though given its application in shaping tone, it's pretty much always on and influencing my sound, so tone sucking in the off position isn't such a big concern.

Quality:

Rock solid.

Value:

Very good functionality and reliable. I think all decent, new gear is a little overpriced and would be cheaper if not for the crazy marketing dollars that go into moving loads of units off the shelf... I would have given it a perfect 10 at half the price.

Overall:

I really like the level of functionality and it allows me to very quickly tweak my rig to the room, guitar selection, etc... it's very solid and reliable so quite pleased with it overall. I have used several different eq units over the years and this is about the best you can get in a stomp box format and I am not one to fart around with rack mounted units.
