Orange Amplifiers

500 ferocious watts and a tube preamp in a compact head.

Maintaining the size of the original Tiny Terror, the Terror Bass from Orange Amplifiers is a 500W hybrid bass amp head with a Class D solid-state power section and the AD200B twin-tube 12AX7 preamp.

This Orange bass amp's diminutive size is quite deceiving, especially considering that underneath its sturdy and appealing housing lies an unbelievable 500 watts of class-D solid-state power, paired with a twin tube preamp. The result is a crushing bass power and tone that has put Orange bass amplifiers in a class of their own. The amplifier head features switchable impedance of 4 or 8 ohm, and includes volume, bass, middle, treble, gain, and active/passive switch for further control of your bass tone.

Weighing in at just over 11 lb., the Orange Bass Terror is a leader in ultra-compact and portable bass power. Its size makes this bass amp head ideal for traveling musicians. Take it on the bus, subway, in a backpack, or on a bike to that gig, and rock out knowing the sound from this little Orange bass amp head is loud, and proud, and pumps out incredible tone. Includes padded gig bag.

Note: The Bass Terror bass amp head does not require rebiasing when replacing tubes.

Features

  • Controls: volume, bass, middle, treble, gain, active/passive switch.

firstly, since ever i wish i could have a Orange amp and the Terror Bass it's something i could afford. in my epopeia to find the perfect (or the nicest w/ cost/benefit) i found this little demon and it seems the perfect gear that i found in this time of my life. it's perfect in many aspects: 1) LIGHT WEIGHT (you can travel w/ it without problem with extra weight (airplanes)) 2) IT'S POWERFULL. (i play in a few houses that didn't have the decent/acceptable conditions to play, so i plug it in a 600w cab and the Orange does perfectly the job). i love how simple Orange can be. the lack of tones w/ 5 knobs it's fantastic, mixing it w/ a high end signal bass gives you that little fantastic dirty. resuming: Orange Terror Bass = DIRTY, LOUD AND FAT TONE.

I've used multiple bass heads (Ampeg SVT, GK, Sunn, Fender) and didn't think I'd find a head that could get the perfect tone without having to use a preamp pedal.  I previously used (and loved) the Fender Bassman 300 pro, but at 80 pounds it was impossible to tour with and rely upon.  The Terror Bass is amazing.  Perfect tone that can get real dirty the higher the gain goes up, weighs under 10lbs, and comes with a camera bag sized carrying case. Also, at 500 watts, it's extremely loud.  I can't turn the volume past 3 without blowing out the rest of the band with their 100 watt tube heads cranked. Finally I've found the Bass head I've been looking for.

I sold my Ampeg fliptop B15-D about 43 years ago, and have been searching for that tone ever since, without having to lug around a SVT or similar 60 pound behemoth to club gigs.  This puppy is PERFECT!!!  Growley if you up the gain and open up the pickup volume, clean if you back off the gain, and everything in between.  I have a couple vintage Fenders that have never sounded better ... I agree, sell your soul to get this amp

It's an awesome amp. If you like the sound of your bass with out huge signal path changes, you'll like the amp. There's tons of gain. In fact, I played an Ampeg 300-CL head, and had gain all the way up just to see how dirty it could get, and the equivalence was probably the Terror Bass up to the 6th notch. If you like playing angry music, this amp is for you. The gain is unreal. Everyone complains about the D.I. being extremely hot. While this does suck, it still sounds great through through a PA. Speaking of the D.I., I've noticed when plugged into a D.I. the gain knob controls the signal going to the board, and the volume knob controls cabinet volume. Very cool. With the trend of tubed, low wattage, and easy portability, this little guy fits right in. Except for the whole 500 watts thing. It's plenty loud through a 4x10 cab.
