The Th30 is a verstile tone monster. What it lacks in effects, it makes up for with tone. With the effects loop, and 30, 15, or 7.5 watt settings you can really get any tone you really want out of this amp. It does pristine cleans to classic crunch on the clean channel, and classic rock to metal on the dirty channel. This thing is built to last too! Very solid construction. I am very pleased with this puchase.
This amp lacks built in effects, but the effects loop solves that issue if you really need them. With the footswitch input too (footswitch not included!) you've got all thefeatures you really need IF you are willing to pay for them. The clean channel has so much headroom and when cranked on the 7 watt setting you really get that vintage crunch. The dirty channel can do anything from classic rock (thing GnR, Zeppelin) to thick metal like metallica, scooped moden metal, to absolutely insane amounts of gain. And the orange tolex is also pretty sweet!!!
I was slightly worried when purchasing this amp due to the fact that it was made in China unlike Orange's famous English made amplifiers. However, i was gladly surprised when I recieved the amp. There were absolutely no problems with the amp when i recieved it. Tolex applied very well, all switches tight, and no electronic issues. Also, again to my surprise mine came stock with a very nice set of JJ's (an upgrade from the supposed stock tubes) I'm not sure if this was on purpose or what but i was happy with it!
For a 30 watter this thing is not cheap, but you get what you pay for... an absolute tone machine! If tone is what you're after, this is it. The Th30 is great for bedroom levels to small/ medium gigs with the 7.5, 15, or 30 watt capabilities.

A great sounding head but unfortunately, the tolex is coming "Un-GLued. I also bought a PPC212 cabinet from Musicians Friend and another one from Guitar Center to make a cool stack. All 3 Orange products from China are delaminating and they are all less than 3 months old. I never had any of this on my AD30 Made in England. I guess Chinese glue is not that great....

Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I have owned this amp for a little over a year, and it has been a great amp! I don't know why other people are saying that it is not loud, this thing booms (the only difference between 30 watts and 100 watts is a couple of decibels, 100 watts only gives you some more clean head room). I play in a stoner/sludge band and with 30 watts cranking, I only turn the volume up to about 1 o'clock.
When my band recorded our album, the recording engineer was astounded by the tone that I was getting out of my amp, and said that he was going to buy one as it was one of the best he had heard.
I've played this with a PPC112, PPC212, and PPC412, and it sounds fantastic in all of them.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I've gone through several amps over the past few years, trying to find the right one. Of course, if you have $3000 to spend on an amp then finding the right one isn't hard. But if you're on a tighter budget like me, it's a little trickier. Long story short: the Orange TH30 provides enough tone quality, durability, and versatility that I think this amp will stay in my arsenal for years. The TH30 covers a broader tonal spectrum than any amp I've owned previously. Which is a big plus for me because I play different kinds of music. I'm not a pro, but I do make a modest part-time living playing music and my Orange gets dragged around to gigs quite a bit. I've had mine for about 6 months and have had zero problems so far. At first I was a little concerned about the whole "Made in China" thing, but this hasn't been an issue yet. It's built like a tank.
Why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well, this thing has a lot of gain on tap, so it will spark the interest of the metal-heads out there. The problem is: If you're in a "heavy" band then you're probably not going to get enough volume out of this 30-watt amp to satisfy you. And it can be a bit tricky to find a good balance between the clean and dirty channels - they aren't evenly voiced. I read that in other reviews before I bought my TH30, and I can vouch for the validity of that issue.
However, as someone who doesn't really play "heavy" music, I don't have this problem. The TH30 is plenty loud for me and the clean headroom is pretty substantial on 30 watt mode. Speaking of which, you may have read that cranking the clean channel will give you some great sounding tube overdrive, and this is true. Putting it in 7-watt mode will let you do this at lower volumes, which is useful.
You might be wondering why I would buy an amp with so much gain on tap if I don't play "heavy" music. Well, when I do want some crunch I just love the Orange sound. And the TH30 was the only Orange I could afford with an effects loop. It has more gain than I need, realistically....but every tone that I can dial in prior to "scooped modern metal" territory is wonderful, and having that extra bit of raunchiness on tap is just a fun bonus for me.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I recently bought this head because I had heard a lot of good things about Orange's tone. The TH100 was out of my price range at the moment, so I went with this guy instead. I was (rightfully) skeptical about the fact that it was only a 30W head, but I did my research and all the reviews I found said that it was perfectly adequate for full band rehearsals, so I decided to go for it.
Well....it's not, unfortunately. The tone really is beautiful, although it did have some issue handling my pedal board setup (WAY too much feedback than there should have been).
But the bottom line is: this amp is simply not loud enough if you are playing in a heavy band. My drummer is a pretty heavy hitter, and even at full volume, even with an EQ pedal boost, and all 4 tubes at full power, I could barely hear myself over the drums.
So for all you metal guitarists out there who are thinking about getting this, DONT DO IT. It's not worth the money, and if you have any sort of volume, it will not cut it. Do yourself a favor: NO HALF MEASURES. 100W or bust.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
This amp continues to surpass my expectations. Running it at 7 watts is more than enough for bedroom/home studio use. 30 watts is enough for any club stage or band practice (15 will probably do). I've always been a high powered high gain amp man, I've used peavey 5150, Mesa Dual rectifiers, monsters of high gain with 100+ watts. This amp made me second guess what I was doing.
The Clean channel is like an added bonus to me, its one of the, if not the, most beautiful, chimey and pristine clean sounding amps I've ever heard.
The dirty channel (which is its strong point) is great, from classic rock sounds to extreme metal, the minimal knobs make is easy, and the knobs are sensitive too! The gain and distortion on this amp are very impressive. Not to mention with an Orange cabinet, you have a beast of a stack on your hands without having to go deaf just to get the amps sweet spot of tone.
Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I was approached about trading my Vox AC30 for this Orange TH30. At first I was skeptical but I knew that the AC30 was not giving me what I wanted. I loved the tones and the greenbacks, but there was something "missing". When I plugged in the TH30 into my Marshall 412 lead cab, it immediately filled in that missing space. What is great about this amp is that it has a great foundational low end, without sacrificing or overpowering that crisp higher end. What makes this even better is that you dont get lost in all of the knobs and controls. It is VERY straightforward with little to no hassle. Within about 30 min. I had my tones dialed in with my pedals, and volumes set. The efx loop is a big plus (except you cannot tune in standby). This head has everything you need and nothing you dont. I prefer amp created overdrive rather than pedal overdrive, but this head takes my Boss Super Overdrive like a champ, and if I want more overdrive, switch to the Dirty channel. I play a number of guitars, all Fender, from a Nashville Deluxe Tele to a Toronado to a Strat. Immediately, my sound guy at my church informed me that my tone was WAY better. Instead of twingy, I had a nice full and robust tone. One of the things that my vox couldn't do was accept overdrive at low volumes. It needed to be loud to have a really good tone. Not that that is a bad thing, it is just that where I play (At church where we need a lower stage volume) the loud overdrive takes over the stage and messes with the FOH.
Another great feature is the adjustable watts. I can go from 30 to 15 to 7.5. However one thing I did notice that the tones change a bit with the watt change. not enough to be a problem, but enough for me to keep it at 30 watts for what I play. Needless to say, I traded my Vox AC30 and got the TH30 and was very happy. This is an amazing amp. I just cant wait to get my PPC412 cab and hear it through some vintage 30's. This amp has amazing cleans with the ability to get some nice classic overdrive tones, to some naughty gritty dirty tones that will put your 100watt Marshall and peaveys to shame!
Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
If you like British tones, especially Orange 'flavored", this amp delivers in spades. Anything from a mild OD to high gain tones, that stay articulate - even at highest settings, this amp delivers.
Simple controls that are as effective as those with tons of dials and switches.
Although built in China, seems built like a tank, like a standard Orange. Owned too short a time to rate. Note: Have a 1st generation TT (Korea) and it keeps on running. Hopefully the TH30 will be the same. The TH30 build apprears to be much more substantial.
Orange amp and tones for about half a British build.

To fully unlock this beast, make sure and use the right speakers, alnico's if you can spare the money. It will really open this thing up. Clean channel is AMAZING, and the dirty has enough gain to tackle modern metal...easy to use, looks good to boot! Can't go wrong here.
At first the lack of controls on the front seems like a drawback, but the folks at Orange have already dialed in the sweet spot on BOTH channels of this baby...less is more in this case.
Seems stout, rugged, time will time, but it appears well made.
Stupid good tone for the cost. I've owned Fuchs, Randall, THD, Egnater, Ampeg, and still own several Marshalls, Mesa Boogie, Soldano's and this baby has tone, guts, and appeal on par with amps I've spent twice the amount the Orange costs...make no mistake, they got this one right and that's with factory tubes! Upgrading can only yield better results!
Comments about Orange Amplifiers TH30H 30W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
overall i love this amp. it was between this and a marshall jmd and when i played them both and compared them this amp sounded WAY better to my ears. absolutley phenoninal i couldnt speak more highly of it! if you considering it dont consider anymore buy this amp
i like the idea of a simple amp. 2 channels or killer tone. simple eq and all orange! this ams is a simple beast. no messing around!
built like a tank. this could survive wwII. with classic orange looks to die for. i needed a tough head to gig with and this deffinetly gets the job done need i say anything else
this is a pricey amp for 30 watts and no frills but the tone makes up for it in my mind
