This amp is great! The thing about it is that it may not be for you though, I've heard people complain that it doesn't have as much punch on the bottom-end as they'd like, which alot of people love to have for funk. For the type of music I play though, which is rock/punk, it suits my needs perfectly. I use it with my Fender P-Bass. I love the features, 4 band EQ plus I like the brighen switch which is pretty cool. For 75 watts, this thing is pretty loud - my neighbors can hear it in their kitchen and my amp's not even halfway up. For some of you guys gigging, it may only be a 75 watter, but you can hook this think up to external cabinets/speakers. It's pretty durable too with that grill, I bet I could kick the thing pretty darn hard and it would still stay protected. Overall, this amp is great and I like the sound. Hope this has helped someone.

If you're looking for absolute mediocrity go with this. It's not loud enough to play with drums. It's not loud enough to go against any kind of guitar. The tone is hard to dial in with passive or active bass. And the tone takes a nose dive after you turn in up past 2. Keep the volume low and its a pretty decent amplifier.

Good for a beginner, not considerably enough.

By AndrewLC

from Boxford, MA

Good price, if Peavey has made adjustments on this "new updated" model. Mine from a few years back, is just nearly powerful enough, and does not deserve the 75W tag. It can not handle a passive bass such as the Ibanez GSR200 as the two of the combined lack enough controls to hone in on better tones, that don't blare out at large volumes.

wow

I got this amp about a month ago.The amp is great. It has a perfect sound. The features are very good. This amp is loud enough for me to play with my friend that plays drums. That means it is prety loud becase he is a hard hitting drummer. When this amp is turned up all the way it is kind of blairy but that is why it has an external speakr/cabnet jack. I have been playing for a year and this amp suites all my needs. I will probaly start gigging with this amp.

Excellent Starter Amp. Highly recommended

By Freedomslave

This amp has all the necessary features for a starting bassist. With the 4 band EQ you can tweak your tones fairly well. Excellent for practicing alone or with your new band, but enough power to play small clubs with no PA. I would highly recommend to budget-minded first-time buyers.

SO SO amp

By BASS Critic 101

Its ok for a starter amp. I upgraded to an Eden, so my ears are spoiled. The amp does tend to distort or discolor the sound of the bass once you get past half volume. Also had a tendency to make my bass sound out of tune when to loud. Also, it has no di out for recording or pa.For starting out, it will get the job done but if your looking for good tone, look to Eden (Blues or Rock) or SWR (Punk or Rock)

ok amp

This amp is ok... i've had it for about 2 years and it got the job done for just practicing but if you turn it up over 1/2 you get a kind of distorted sound... if you are on a budget and are going to use this for small shows and practicing, it's pretty good.

Great amp for jam sessions and even small gigs. I've had it for about a year now and I just love it.

Basic 112 a steal.

By Ceege

from NM

I've had this combo for 3 years now. I have played in lots of small concerts gigs, and sessions. The send feature allows for the Bass to be sent through a PA which sounds great in an auditorium. Get next to the drums though, and you'll be forced to crank that thing up. I don't start to get any distorted problems until i hit about 8 or 9 on the volume. With an extra bit of juice from my pedal, this combo can kick. And if you're looking for a portable amp, this is about the biggest you want to get if your gonna be caryying on and off stage. Love this Amp!

Tiny Titan

I bought this because I wanted a bass amp that had about 50 watts but didn't take up a lot of space. The sound is great--I was amazed to get good low end for my five string. I wish they had amps like this years ago--the nearest one in the past was the old Ampeg Portaflex series, but the Basic is louder and tighter. It was loud enough to fill up a small hall with clean sound. If you want bass you can feel, you need an 18" and maybe a couple of 10"s and a lot more power. I've used a lot of amps over the years, Fenders, Ampeg V4B, Sound City, other Peaveys and Sunn amps, but none were as compact and flexible at all volume levels as this amp.

This amp is great for gigs, i use it for playing in front of our church and in front of crowds. The amp has an awesome high end sound, and the effects loop is an great feature.

Good for practice

By jawsbreakher

Basically does what it says it will do. I've played a lot of small clubs with this amp and it's always served me just fine. It sounds nice, although in outdoor it's not that useful unless it's miked.

Good for money but not enough

By Claymation

from Statham, GA

I needed an amp that had some power to it, and was easy to transport. For the money its a really good deal. It's only good for a practice amp though it doesn't have enough power to stand up to a guitar.

A Great Practice Amp

By Praisebass

from Albuquerque, NM

See all my reviews

I've had this amp for about 3 years (mine is an earlier 50 watt model), and it is an excellent practice amp. It has enough power that it can be used in small venue gigs, and excellent tone. It's really gutsy for a small amp, and the headphone output makes it easier for me to practice without disturbing the neighbors. It seems to handle the B on my 5-string fairly well, and is clear and articulate in the upper ranges. It's an excellent choice, and worth its price.

I personally think this is a great amp. It is small, but it packs a hard punch, good for sessions or even small shows. It has a nice sound.

The amp is good but if you turn it up to at least 5 you get a sad distorted sound. I had mine for about 9 months now and i want to buy a cab for it because 1x12 is not enough for me.

great for small gigs

By blagrinder

from Mobile, Al

i've owned this amp for about 2 years. i've played next to full-fledged jazz bands, including a large horn section and 2 guitarists without the use of the PA outputs. tone is clean as long as its volume is kept under 7 or 8, depending on the kind of music and sound you are looking for. wouldn't trade this little amp for the world.
