Comments about Peavey Nashville 112 1x12 80W Amp:

After all the hype I have heard about the Peavey Nashville 112 about how great it is... and I needed a good amp for my pedal steel, I went and bought this amp. The amp is ok but not the "Holy Grail" for steel players. The tone of the amp is just fair. It is the weakest 80 watts I have ever heard. I had an old PV KB 60 that would blow it's doors off! (The KB 60 was rated @ 50 watts). This Nashville amp is noisy. Especially if you want to add a delay pedal. Whether you put it in front or in the FX loop...still noisy.

I think the amp is WAY over priced in MHO. The quality and tone is just not there. I know that with a 12 in. speaker you can't get the lows and hefty tone you can with a 15 in. speaker but this 12 in. speaker just doesn't have what it takes to get the full range of a pedal steel.(It needs a 15 in. BW speaker).

All in all I say this amp is NOT worth the price they are charging. The amp is small so it's easy to haul around but I wouldn't want to take it out because of it's poor tone and lack of power. If you hide it in the backline and mic it with a lot of EQ you might get away with using it for live shows. But who wants to spend a lot of money on a amp that doesn't do the job?

I have been a professional musician for over 50 years and I have heard a lot of amps. The Nashville 112 is not the best pedal steel amp.
    ( Evans anyone?)

If you just have to have a Nashville 112 then buy it. But if you want the best bang for your buck this amp is NOT the way to go. *(Fender twin reverb is a nice amp. Plenty of power. 85 REAL watts and tone to die for). But, hey, I'm just say'in!

Ideal for clean guitar & lap steel tones

    By Rodney Gunderson

    from Nashville, TN

Comments about Peavey Nashville 112 1x12 80W Amp:

I use this amp primarily for standard electric guitars (Samick JZ4 archtop, Fender 50's Reissue Stratocaster, Ibanez RG-whatevermodel w/hot pickups) in addition to an early 60's Fender Champ lap steel, and it provides excellent clean tones for each - once it has been tailor-tweaked accordingly.
For the JZ4 jazz box played with bare fingers, it provides a thick, warm & full bodied Wes-type tone, and with a pick it provides a woody Tal Farlow-type tone. A tad muddy on the bottom end, but very nice overall. For the Strat, it suprisingly provides an appealingly bright tone for the out-of-phase pickup positions, as well as a fat & bouncy SRV-type neck pickup tone. Not quite as convincing as a Fender Super Reverb, but hey - it's half the price & weight. For the Ibanez, it provides a clean, fat, jazzy tone with the neck humbucker. I'm not kidding. The middle single-coil by itself, or in the out-of-phase positions with either the neck or bridge pickup is nice & bright. The bridge humbucker is there for rockin' out, and does it well running through an overdrive or distortion pedal. For the Champ lap steel, the 112 does what it was made for - providing a thick, rounded Nashville-approved steel guitar tone, balanced across all 6 strings the full length of the fretboard.
Comparing this amp to the clean sounds from my Fender Blues DeVille 4x10, the primary difference is the 112's high end is more rounded, less harsh & cutting. I prefer that aspect for the clean jazz & blues styles that I primarily play these days. It has plenty of volume, and held its own in a jam session against the DeVille.

Bottom line, if you play guitars or steel or both and want just one amp to cover them all (that won't break your back or your wallet) - this is it.
Not the lowest-priced amp of this size, but it has proven itself to be the most versatile for my needs, so it is an excellent value.

    Great Little Amp

    By Goldtop Slim

    from California

Comments about Peavey Nashville 112 1x12 80W Amp:

I bought this amp thinking it may be a bit small but believe me, it can easily peel the paint off the walls while retaining crystal clarity required by steelers. This is obviously a great amp for us steelers (great response to lows and mids) but I was also more than pleasantly surprised when I plugged 6 string (54 Goldtop) into this amp...WOW! Very, very warm for a non-tube amp and sounds great for the correct genres. I've read posts that the amp has to be "broken in"...not sure what that means exactly - this amp was great right out of the box. Generally speaking, it's the Indian, not the arrow if you catch my drift. I highly recommend this little gem.

    Big Sound, Little Amp

Comments about Peavey Nashville 112 1x12 80W Amp:

I have one of the Nashville 112's, and it is the finest amp I've heard. I play a single neck pedal steel, and it has more than enough headroom, and enough volume to hurt somebody. I Love this little amp, and will trade my Session for one soon!

    Peavey Nashville 112

    By Tommy R. Butler

    from Nashville, TN

Comments about Peavey Nashville 112 1x12 80W Amp:

Peavey has done it again. The New Nashville 112 far surpasses the expecataions of the steel guitar community. With its light weight yet powerful design it is an instant hit for any tuning. Loud enough for the gig and quiet enough for the studio definately a versitle and High Denination amp.
