OVERVIEW

The most feature-packed, best-sounding, and powerful amp anywhere near this price range!

Peavey's exclusive and patented TransTube solid-state technology creates the sound, warmth, and push-back of a tube amp. The basic building blocks of the TransTube sound are the exclusive designs of the preamp, power amp, and T-Dynamics control. The preamp section tailors gain to meet the need for any amount of drive, from crystal clear to thick, smooth sustain. The power amp reacts just like a tube output section by responding to the preamp with natural compression that increases as the amp gets louder. T-Dynamics control lets the player dial the actual output of the amp, selecting any output level from full output down to 10% of full rated power so you can dial in a sound and maintain it at any volume level. 130W RMS into 8 ohms, 200W RMS into 4 ohms. 2 - 12" Sheffield speakers combined with T-Dynamics control, 3 footswitchable channels, footswitchable effects loop, external speaker jack, presence and resonance controls, and reverb provide peerless flexibility and titanic tone. Modern/vintage voicing switch on Clean channel, high gain/modern/vintage voicing switch on Lead channel, and ultra/high gain/boost voicing switch on Ultra channel give you tons of instant options. Footswitch included.

I waited a couple months before posting, to thoroughly wring this thing out. It has more features than I personally need, and some minor quirks. I do not use the ultra channel. That's more for metal and hard rock. Love the clean channel in the vintage position. That channel has a nice warm tone approaching some tube amps. The lead channel, which I do use a lot, has a slight humm. The ulta channel has a more pronounced humm. The humm defeat switch on the back doesn't help much. Overall for Musician Friends price, a good buy. This will probably become my backup up amp. I needed something of reasonable quality/price in a hurry. My vintage amp gave up the ghost. I'm still looking for a good tube amp as primary, and expect to pay two or three times as much.

I got this amp a while back... before I really knew how a good amp sounds, and I thought it was great... Now I really wish I had something with REAL tubes not this Trans Tube solid state stuff. Saying Trans Tube sounds as good as real tubes, is like saying Electric drums sound like real drums. If you like Peavey, go with the Delta Blues... it's well worth the money.

This amp is loaded

By E4

This amp is awsome. It does everything I could possibly need it for, from practicing, to gigs, to recording. It does it all. You can literally make this amp sound however you want. If not, it has an effects loop so you can add the pedals to do so. My favorite feature besides the 130w of power is the 3 footswitchable channels.

Great tone for a 212

By Fixxxer

from Tavares FL

I don't know why some people are having so much trouble with this amp. It's perfect for metal. If you can't get it to sound good then you just don't know what you're doing. This amp delivers like no other. Great distortion with sweet highs and great lows. It can put out chugging palm-muted rhythm riffs and at the same thing give you plenty of sustain for lead riffs. When running into a PA it becomes the heaviest beast you ever heard. I definitely recommend it to any guitarist who needs an amp that keeps up for on-stage use.

Good Price, Good Amp.

By StuckINthe80's

from Fort Smith, AR

I've had this amp for about 4 months now, and havn't been dissappointed yet. I play classic rock, and (to please certain, members of the band) some softer stuff (Goo Goo Dolls, Oasis.. blah). Anywho, the two distortion channels are great for what I play, I still prefer my pedals, but the amps features shine through nicely when looking for the unique touch. Also, 130 watts through two 12'' .. not bad. Not too much noise, no apparent problems yet. True rockers out there, this one is for you.

Pretty Good

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This is a really good amp for gigs. Its 130 watts are loud as hell. The 2 distortion channels sound great. Only thing i don't like is the clean channel. It sounds disgusting. It overdrives with the volume at 2. Only buy this if you don't use a clean signal very often.

Ask me a question

This amp is definitely one of the best I've ever used or owned. The transtube technology gets great tone in conjunction with my Ibanez. If you are a gigging musician and play any type of rock, or even surf guitar (with the clean channel on and the reverb cranked, of course) then this amp is worth looking into. This blows my previous Marshall out of the water!

An excellent amp that allows for specific sounds

By DBFGuitar

from Opelousas, LA

This is an excellent amp with great features that also gives the ability to get any specific sound that you want. My favorite feature has to be the selction of 3 different amp types (1 modern and 2 vinatge selections). A great feature that I use when my band plays live is the "ultra" function which raises the guitar in the mix so that it sticks out for solos. Simply put, this is a great amp.

I've played shows with this amp for two years and I think it is awesome for the price! Also, it has amazing tone and great volume. I played lead in a band and love the distortion on the ultra setting.

Hums like no other mother!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This amp may seem to be top quality and nice and easily cranked..BUT ITS NOT! if your looking for metal this amp will not deliver. when the highs are up this thing hums like CRAZY at level 2! if your a classic rock player and dont play real heavy material then this is for you. but for all the hardcore/metalcore freaks out there be careful.

Good For A Beginner

By Corpse Grinder

from Ohio

This amp is really good for a beginner, but it does not crank as loud as i would want it to. My drummer plays very hard, and it is still hard to hear this amp over the drums. The clean channel is starting to make a crakle sound when i hit the strings hard with a pick. I think it's good for starting out with at shows, but I am now looking into a 5150 full stack which i think would be more suitable for my style of playing.
