I just got this amp yesterday and am absolutely in love with it. I had a TransTube 258, the 25 watt model, and loved the on-board effects and the clean channel, but the distortion was awful. Plus, it was time to get something bigger. Well, not only can I play gigs with this monster, the distortion is out of this world! There is a three-way switch that lets you go from tube, to metal, to heavy gain, in a second, and with some tweaks, there are many options in between. Now I have the wattage, distortion, and effects, all in one amp. It's easy to carry, too. I HIGHLY recommend this thing!

Hmmm

Very very mid happy for my style of playing. Leads are very muddy and not clear on gain channel.

Awesome 'effin amp!!!

By chopem

from atlanta, ga

I bought this amp second hand and it just plays incredible. i dont use it so much for heavy distortion but i've gotten some of the nicest clean tones out of here. the effects are also lots of fun and suprisingly good quality besides the wah. Its basically the ultimate practice amp. i am looking to sell this amp though and buy a tube. email me if youre interested

Must buy

By Andrew-newvn

I got Peavy Transtube 112 EFX Combo amp used about 3 years ago and it still remains the same. No problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this amp to any guitarist, beginner or pro. To me the effects are just as good as any boss pedals. This is my fifth year as a musician and I still haven't looked into any other amp because this thing hasn't disappointed me at all. Whether you play country, blues, rock, reggae, or metal this amp will statisfy your musical genere needs.

Nice amp...not loud enough though

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This amp actually sounds really great. I tried it out in the store and was sold right off the bat. The only downside about this amp is the volume. I love the distortion, the effects are good (not as great as individuals but alright) but I was playing with someone who used a spider 212. They blew me away volume wise. It's just not loud enough.

a giant killer

By Bruce Johnson

from Tulsa, OK

Last month I played Guitar#1 for "The Who's Tommy" musical at Tulsa PAC. After years of modeling units direct w/headphone stations, I decided to buy an amp. A wise man suggested a small amp for easy portability. This amp rocks. It's got the bite I wanted for the Pete Townsend stuff, built in effects, 65 watts and weighs 33 lbs. Thanks for the giant killer.

Great product

By godingodSDxt

This is a great product, the onboard effects are awesome. The footswitch could be more manageable, but that's the only complaint - awesome sound - if you are a die hard tube fan, this solid may change your mind. I love tube always, but this is one solid state I will say I love.

Great amp for anyone

My school has one of these amps in the jazz room and my band is allowed to stay after and use the jazz room to practice. This amp is great. The clean sound is amazing. The overdrive channel is good for a lot of playing except very heavy metal. The effects are great and easy to use. Overall this is a great amp.

Perfect for working guitarists

By Dennis Walton

from southeastern NC

I bought one on advice from a friend at a store and was blown away. Two days later I was opening for a band from the late `70s. I park it between a Marshall and a Line 6. The Peavey sounded better than both of them! (and alot more controllable)

Works great where I play too!

By an older muscian

from jefferson city, MO

The band I play for was trying some new equipment out at another Church. I plugged into the Peavey, because I didn't want to hook up my effects and go through the sound board. I was blown away with the sound and effects already at my command. Anyone want to by a Fender??

Great Amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I dont own it, but my friend does, and i used my Seven-string schecter guitar on it, and it blew it away, such a sick amp. I put on the digitech grunge pedal with it, and it blew it away. (also tried the Boss Metal Zone.) It sounds amazing with distortion, aswell without it, it has a very clean tone. I would buy this amp immediatly if i had the cash.

Smooth

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Ive had this amp for about 5 months and all i can say is smooth blues man. This thing has the smoothest Blues tone ive herd. Great quality, very versatile and portable. This amp can handle any genera with ease. A little to smooth for harder metal but will do. If your lookin for a smooth playing Blues amp with alot of Options this is the amp for you.

Where have you been all my life?

Oh my gosh!!! This amp is so sick, guys! It has great distortion, great effects, and a particularly awesome and bright clean tone. The power is not enough for the big gigs, but you can run it to a sound system or speakers through the SEND Effects Loop, and you'll get it in the speakers and out the amp, too. If you use wah, I would suggest you get a pedal, but all the rest of the effects are great. If I had to do it all over, I would only upgrade to the 212 instead. Great Amp!!

Great amp.

By XmikeconnollyX

from Norwood, OH

This is a great amp. It's loud enough to play shows with, has great effects and sounds awesome with or without a pedal. It sounds wonderful clean or on lead. I plugged my Digitech Metal Master pedal in and it blew me away. You all need to buy this amp.

What an amp!!

By GuitarBoy19

from Stroudsburg, PA

I played this at my friends with my guitar and it sounded awesome. It can compare with alot of goood amps also. This is truly an amazing amp. Not as good as most Marshalls, but pretty cool. If I had the money right now, I'd immediately go to the music stotre and purchase it. It's a dream to play, and especailly with a good pedal.

All I can say is WOW.

By G&L fan

from Illinois

I've had this amp a couple of years and still love the sound I get out of it and the portability because its so lightweight. I play a G&L ASAT and Legacy through it and get alot of compliments on the killer tone and flexibility of the amp. The effects could be better but there is a loop if you want your own. Haven't had any quality issues with it either. This amp will make you a peavey fan if you aren't already.
