This is a GREAT amp, its a peavey, so you know it will last for ever. I bought this amp as a practice amp since i have a 6505 stack, but i use it just as much as my 6505. Its got a wide line of efx, keeps the most hardcore knob tweaker busy all day. I use a Gibson SG, and let me tell you it SCREAMS, from pretty good distortion, to cleans. Overall, BUY THIS AMP.
I have only had the Peavey Transtube 212 EFX for about a week, and I'd have to say it is a good buy for the price. This amp does scream as everyone says. I can barely get by with a few pegs of volume on it before I start rattling windows. The effects are easy to use and the foot pedal is very straight forward. The Peavey quality definitely stands out in this amp. I'm still working on getting a lower bottom end to this thing but it could be the Satriani signature Ibanez I'm using in it. Will wait and see. Still a great sound for solid state, and a lot more straight forward to use than the Line 6 I had. The only downside so far is the lack of a battery backup for saving effects settings. Hopefully, they will improve on that in future models......
The only downfall I've had is that there's no ability that I could find to hook the amp through a sound system. Besides that, this amp has done everything for me!
Excellent amp with superior tone, and power.
I play an old Gibson ES175D on the porch. Across the street is the Mississippi River so I only annoy the fish, but I like to play as loud as the feedback allows. Way more than I'll ever need but I sure like this amp.
I am a former Road Musician that has well over a million miles as a pro player. I've owned and used all of the major tube and solid state guitar combos...to include the high end "boutique stuff." The Peavey Trans Tube 212 does everything that I need it to do live to cover what Brent Mason or Dann Huff did in the studio. I used to carry around $10,000 worth of rack gear out to shows to match the sounds, textures, and tones of the session players. I'm using my TransTube 212 and a Strat now! I have a friend that designs and builds a fine boutique amp line. I have owned, played, and endorsed his amps in the past. He had a COW when he heard that I was gigging with a "Peavey." I told him that 1. This amp's got the tone without the trouble of tubes, and without a ton of outboard effects...2. The Trans Tube 212 is not tempermental like tube amps can be when they're asked to work overtime...3. I don't feel that I need a boutique amp that cost 10 times what the Peavey does sitting on stage to testify to my skill as a player...or lack of it. This amp sounds GREAT! If you CARE about your tone, and you can only have one amp, buy the Peavey TransTube 212!
This is probably the best amp i have had.... its crunch is incredible and its clean tone is really nice and crisp.. the 9 effects are kick ass plus the reverb and delay are among the best ive heard... i play death and black metal which needs serious power and an earth shattering distortion...this one is it..INCREDIBLE
I have lost interest in my Marshall amp all together since i bought this one! The sound is great and the volume can blow you away if you want it to! I don't even have to mic up any more at gigs while my other band mate has to mic his mesa boogie. peavey has won me over with this amp which is also not to hard on the wallet.
I went looking for an amp i could play in a small gig i had and found i liked this peavey a lot better than the marshall i was going to look at. Great sound. Effects are awesome. Great distortions. Good footpedal comes with it. All in all it's a great amp.
I've had this amp now for a good 3 months. I've come to a few realizations. This amplifier will make any guitar, weather its good or not, sound absolutely amazing beyond belief. Anyone wanting to start getting serious with a guitar should pick up this amp.
