I laughed when I saw that SoHelpMeGod said metal doesn't use mids...God, please help him, and also give him some Slayer, just so start. I bought this cab used and sold my Marshall 1960A and VHT. I shouldn't have to say more than that, but I will. Note articulation is endless. Mids are everywhere, complimented by strong lows and musical highs. Gain stays thick, and clean will always stay clean if you want it...I mean, it's a 400-watt cab. Another note on the bass - the cabinet it itself it built VERY sturdy, and with thick wood, so you get all the bass you need, but none of the extra flux you get with looser cabs, such as Marshalls - no offense to them, I actually love Marshalls, the XXX is just tighter. The only reason I gave features 4.5 is that the inputs do not include a 4ohm jack, as a Marshall would.

i bought one of these to get a better cabinet so i thought. i had an old sound lab which was 3/4 plywood but a bit smaller. i bought this piece of junk cab and was amazed at how crapy it really is. i imediatly removed the peavey speakers and put my old celestions in which helped some. but this cab swallows up the sound somehow. my old cab had volume. this cab spreads the sound and takes all the bite and in your face solid mid i used to have. i dont know what else to say. dont buy it, it is junk. oh and buy the way, they market the cab as being poplar plywood construction. so thats what your speakers are bouncing off of inside the cab. it does make a difference. cheap as heck.

This from a Peavey?

I bought the complete stack, but only use half at bar gigs and the whole stack at fairs and such. I have been playing for over 35 yrs. and have tried every amp under the sun and couldn't achieve that "tone" I was after until now. If you can afford this rig, get it. Don't be mislead by the other companies big names like Marshall, Fender and Mesa...I've tried 'em all and this one smokes the competition.

Pretty Sweet

I got this cabinet for my last birthday and it's great. I use a Peavy VTM 60 and XXX head with it and you get great highs and lows... The mids aren't bad but if I wanted great mids I'd have a Marshall.

not good

By D-lwUFp

this cab is not that good at all. i have thgis cab to go with my 6505+ head but thats a mistake. this cab doesnt have a clear sound at all nd the lows on this cab flat out suck. definitley dont get this cab if you are playing metal, hardcore, or metalcore. unless you have the xxx head, then it might sound ok.

Great cabinet!

My guitarist bought this cab used, which was great because it looks fine and works even better! The cab has great low end, nice high-end bite, and we don't really know about the mids simply because, well, metal doesn't use mids =) Great cabinet, though, I'd recommend it to anyone who plays high-gain metalcore.

Just South of Good

The Peavey Triple XXX cab is decent at absolute best. It doesn't respond well to mids on your standard 3 band EQ, Highs aren't much better. If you bought the Peavey Triple XXX head don't go with this cab. You're way better off going with the 6505 cab or the marshall 1960 cab.

Great low end and wattage

By MarkD-upwQN

I just purchased this cabinet. It sounds great. The low end is perfect for de-tuned guitars because it can handle all the low end you need.It is 400 watts mono, so it would take a lot to blow these spaekers.I have played for 9 years and this is by far my best cabinet I have owned. I bought the straight cab, which sounds a little better to me than the angled one. The speakers are very clear and project wondefully(like Celestions). To get the best out of any amp or cab, I hooked up my Monster Cable speaker cable and it was even cleaner. This cab won over the Marshall 1960b cab and I am happy with the purchase.

wow

By vintagevibe

this cabinet is the third i have owned and by far the best. if you have the right head to power it, prefereably peavey, you can get major metal distortion to classic rock dostortion to crunch- to bluesy warm clean. the speakers seem very versatile where the right set of speakers are more high pitch, while the left side is low and bassy. it mixes the perfect pitch and gives you excellent tone. the only disappointment is that it seems to lose some clarity at high volume but there are always ways around it. other than that....aawesome! should be 1000 bucks

good cabinet

puts on nice tones, especially lows. i'm really happy with it, the only things i'd prefer over this cabinet is the marshall 1960a, or the mesa rectifier cabinet.
