Comments about Pigtronix Mothership Analog Synthesizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
This is a really great pedal with some sweet synth tones on hand. It's not for everyone but if you want nice old synth tones this is it. Somewhat poor tracking at times, you have to be careful with your picking. A lot of fizzle at the end of notes if it sustains too long. Great overall though!
Comments about Pigtronix Mothership Analog Synthesizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
Does everything I expected it to do. But bear in mind it is a single-note synth--if you try playing chords or something with it, you are going to be really bummed. It's for playing super funky or outer-space sounding quick runs or melodies--not chording rhythms or harmonizing or fingerpicking(?).
Tons of adjustments. I especially like the fact that you can adjust the dry level independently from the VCO level and the Ring Mod levels. Choice between sawtooth and square waveforms also really flexible, along with the ability to tune it to whatever intervals you want for either harmonic or discordant sounds.
Never had a single quality control issue. This is a unit that takes some experimentation and, unlike simple disto boxes or simpler modulation effects (like flangers, phasers, chorus, etc.), you definitely want to READ THE MANUAL so you know what the heck you are getting into. Has taken some abuse at shows and keeps on ticking.
Hard to give it high marks for value because it is so damn expensive. I mean, I wouldn't have thrown down this kind of rock if I didn't put a high value on the ability to make weird-ass sounds, but some people don't see much need for this kind of thing.
Comments about Pigtronix Mothership Analog Synthesizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
Reviewing a damaged unit makes no sense. In my experience, this box delivers porky '70s analog-synth tone. From subtle dreamland warbles to full-on, crazy close encounters, the Mothership gives rich mono- and duotone leads and pads. It is not a harmonizer but rather a monster ring mod with a monosynth welded to its core.Experiment and enjoy.
Comments about Pigtronix Mothership Analog Synthesizer Guitar Effects Pedal:
Analog Synth? Ths thing has more digital artifacts (or just plain cycliic analog noise) than anything I have tried dealing with. Save a lot of money and look at the POG2. I bought it at NAMM and it must have not been tested or something ridiculous like that. The VCO generates a horible buzzing sound without an input and sometimes erratically when playing. It is NOT the VCO signal itself; and the overall signal gets so compressed you lose any tonal quality you had to start with. I am so disappointed I will never use any of their stuff again, even if I have players that love the philosopher's tone. I feel ripped off and wish I could just get my money back from Pigtronix.Heck, a MOOG ring mod has more control than this 'intelligent' ring mod. Nothing smart about this unit.
