It is hard to separate this module from the whole RM4 as you can't have the module w/o the head. It is hands down the coolest piece of gear that I have purchased in years. I use it live through a GSP1101 and into a Carvin stereo tube amp into a pair of 12s. I also use it in my studio through the GSP1101 and then into a 4X10 cab sim. Works great either way although I prefer the real speakers to the sims. When I turn it on I can almost imagine the smell of the hot tubes heating up the Tolex.
I have a really nice modeling preamp and like the modern sounds, but I have yet to see a modeler that has a good twin sound, so I bought this to run into my GSP1101. I have a nice old twin in my garage and I just don't want to lift i anymore, but I really miss the sound. I swear I would have a hard time differentiating between this and my real twin. It is just stunningly clean and full sounding. The controls are just what my twin has and work the same way. When I run a distortion pedal into it it responds like my twin. I could not be happier.
The thumb screws leave a little to be desired. Luckily I don't plan on switching the module out much. If I did, I can see a possible issue in that they may not last. Maybe mine is slightly faulty or something...it sounds great but is not quite as hot as the other modules.
Let's see, a vintage twin for a couple of thousand plus lugging it around vs. the RM4 with a twin module plus three others of my choice? No contest!
You are better off getting the clean or top boost module. This is good for clean but if you push the drive it has too much tube breakage. Yes its true to the Fender sound but The VOx AC30 is better over all. So get the Top Boost.
