Pure aggression with amazing articulation and a wide dynamic range.

Voiced for raw aggression, the Rivera Metal Shaman distortion pedal provides a more overdriven range of textures than its two siblings, the Double Shaman and the Blues Shaman.

Along with controls for Bass, Mid, High, and Gain, the Metal Shaman features a Brutality switch for widening the bottom end and creating a bigger aural picture. The Disintegrate footswitch allows an extra jolt of killer gain boost with expanded harmonics, and the Level control sets the overall output.

A switch-bypassable noise gate with controls for Sensitivity and Release tames noise that can accompany the Metal Shaman's bare-knuckled amounts of overdrive and distortion.

Features
  • Wide range of distorted and overdriven tones
  • Bass, Mid, High, and Gain controls
  • Brutality switch widens the bottom end
  • Bypassable noise gate with Sensitivity and Release controls

Metal distortion at its finest, with loads of control and a built-in noise gate! Order now.

Comments about Rivera Metal Shaman Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm not of the school that believes amp or guitar models sound like what they are attempting to model. To me, they sound like a bad digital attempt.

This said, I think all amps and pedals have unique and distinct tones. I play through a Blackstar Series One 6l6100. It is a metal amp with a great sound of its own. I expected such a highly reviewed pedal would sound great through it.

          No where near it.

It doesn't compete or sound good. In my opinion, even if you crank the gain enough to where it might begin to compare, it is weak and the signal seems broken and unpleasantly harsh despite its thinness. I'm not talking about a good metal harshness either. It sounds cheap.

If you turn down the settings you might be able to get some good hard rock or radio "metal" tones out of it. It would be great for someone just starting out and on a budget that can't afford a real metal amp, as long as they aren't looking for the perfect tone to start. Aside from the fact that this is pretty expensive.

The sound quality actually reminds me of something in between a Digitech Metal Master I had before it shorted out on me (89.95 on this site) and a DOD deathmetal pedal I still have (roughly 50.00usd at the time)...

The only thing that justifies the price is that it appears to be well constructed. I haven't actually thrown it against the wall or anything, but it does seem solid.

To be fair, I haven't miced it and I have heard some good tones from it online. I have not gotten them myself to my ear, though.

Comments about Rivera Metal Shaman Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Best Metal Pedal I've ever used (my Warlock has emg 81/85's). This pedal kicks the tar out of my Boss mt-2 metalzone (had it for YEARS). My only complaint is that Musicians Friend didn't send a power adapter with the Shaman (have to take out 8 screws to put the battery in), had to buy an adapter. (bought a Morley 9volt power supply- about twenty after shipping and tax)-As far as the Shaman pedal goes...I simply could not ask for more. Worth every dime to get to the next level! Hot to the touch -Mosh On my Brothers- buy this!!!

Comments about Rivera Metal Shaman Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm going to go ahead and say that I would recommend this, though I want to stress that I do so with some reserve.

Ok, I play on a Blackstar Series one 1046l6 100 watt with a 4x12. The low end is amazing. This is a metal pedal, right? I find the low end painfully weak, by comparison to the on-board tone. ... on the same amp.

That said, it is clear, with good quality, and gives a wide range of METAL tones - aside from the uber-deep lows. It has a razor sharp edge, even if it lacks body.

One thing I've found that I can do is turn it on along with one of the on-board channels. That gives me a razor edge and a good meaty body and richness that the pedal lacks itself. Certainly it adds versatility to the amp tones.

It is a bit expensive for what it is, in my opinion, but if you have the money to throw around for extra tones, you might find it worth having. I don't plan on getting rid of it, but it hasn't stopped my from using my on-board tone either.
