If your a starter its highly recommended.
Personally I think that the R10 is an amp that it is not very good. But it is cheap and that is why I bought it. The distorted sound that comes out of it is dreadful and the clean is ok for an amp this cheap. I would advise to get something different and more powerful unless you are searching for a practice amp. It is very cheap so do not expect it to do wonders.
I blew it with microphones! That should say enough.
This old 42 yr old just bought a Cort and Rocktron to re-live his youth. This amp has more sound than any amp I have ever owned. The quality is great and better than amps at a much higher price. I love it!
It's a 10 w amp - Don't expect to get the clear sound of a giant Marshall Stack. But for practice it's a good amp overall. Like to have distortion in your music? Hit the overdrive button and hear a nice crunch. Of course, the way overdrive works is the volume needs to be loud enough for it to be heard. Unfortunately the overdrive button seems to cut from time to time because it's a little loose on mine - I'll need to fix that. It's good for anyone who needs a budget practice amp.
I tried this against a few other amps at my local music store. This one didn't blow them away by any means. But this one had the best tone of all, it had the best distortion, and I thought that it was definetly the best amp for the price. I tried a fender, a brand X, a vox. None of them were anything special. When i plugged in, i thought that the only possible way make this amp sound even better, would be to use a modeling pedal with it.
