OVERVIEW

Deadly 3-D distortion delivers that huge rectifier flavor.

With a monstrously heavy sound, the Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal creates an asymmetric distortion with user control of the symmetry balance of the distortion output waveform. In essence, this creates the psycho-acoustic 3-D sound positioning effect that will make your sound jump out of the cab. The Zombie gives you distortion that cuts through the mix, plus a 2-band EQ.

The Stare control increases and decreases distortion symmetry. The Scream control adjusts the rectified distortion. The Louder control adjusts the overall output of the Zombie pedal. The EQ section includes Bass and Treble controls.

The Zombie effects pedal is a great choice when used with an all-tube guitar amplifier to deliver rectified distortion. It can take a plain-sounding tube amp and produce rectified distortion that rivals the sound of the most expensive amplifiers. This monstrously heavy sound will cut through the mix and deliver amazing tone! The Zombie features Rocktron's easy-access battery compartment to make changing batteries during a gig a breeze.

FEATURES
  • Rectified asymmetric distortion
  • 3-D sound positioning effect
  • Stare control adjusts distortion symmetry balance
  • Scream control adjusts rectified distortion level

You'll swear your sound gets right up and walks out of your cabinet! Order the Zombie today!

I play through a Traynor ycv40wr plus the 1x12 extension cab. Needless to say if I want thick chunky distortion i need to have a pedal to do so. (the tranor is a great blues amp, btw). This little pedal was the answer to my prayers, but still is NOT for all players. If you're looking to hook this guy up to an all tube amp, you have a great chance of getting a dual rectifier type sound. If you have a solid state amp it will be very fizzy and lack the feel the pedal is meant to have (sound that "gets up and walks out of your cabinet"). I palm mute quite a bit when i play and this thing chugs along with the best mesa can give. It sounds very very close. If you can not afford a mesa and you KNOW you want some of the metal tones a dual rec can provide you, this pedal is made just for you. If you just want a heavy sound, and are not looking for something that sounds like a dual rec, you need to try out other pedals. If money really isn't an issue, then you should know better and just spring for the dual rectifier. While the zombie may sound close, it will never be the real thing....

This pedal is great if you have a tube amplifier and allow it to overdrive the preamp stage on the clean or lead channels. It will sound very "thin" unless you have some mids added in on an EQ or your amp. This sounds better than most distortion pedals, including the Boss MT-2. Be prepared to be disappointed with the sound unless you EQ it right and overdrive the preamp stage of your tube amp.

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

I picked up one of these for fun just to add more variety to my rig which consists of either a DSL50 or a JMP Mark II-Lead head into a miked 12" Vintage 30 in an isolation cab or 4x12. I run the amps about a third to half volume: enough to move the speaker cone. I already have a TS-808 and an Ibz TubeKing on the front end of this set-up so the Rocktron was facing real competition as far as remaining on the pedal board.I swear you can hear Satan's laughter when slamming a cord or running through an arpegio with this pedal. Rapid single note runs remain agressive and crisp are not lost with this oedal: no blurry mush here. Even subtle cord voicings also seem to be augmented by this pedal. Having owned a Mesa Recto-Pre, a GB Diablo and other "heavy amps" I was glad to hear the heay tones this produces while giving IMHO better lead tones (smooth and howling and not grainy). Neck pup leads are amaizing on a Smartwood LP with this pedal. Lots of useful settings, but I prefer to keep the drive level half way-pushing the bass a bit and leveling off the treble.

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

I have owned one of these pedals for almost 6 years...and I never really just enjoyed the sound that came from it. It was only when I hooked it up to my Peavy Valve King head here recently that I actually got blown away by it. You can play it on a solidstate but you just wont get the same feeling as playing tube dude. If you do get this pedal though, get an EQ and boost your signal. I'm positive you'll love your new tone. I like brutal noise like Black Dalia Murder, Suicide Silence, and A Plea For Purging and I can dial it in well and own that shizz. I run this with an MXR ten band EQ to do it though.

Somewhat disappointed

By Anonymous

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

I've had this pedal for about a year now and really enjoy the quality of sound through this pedal. I run this pedal in front of two setups. One being a crate head and half-stack. The other being an original 65' Fender Deluxe Reverb. It sounds great through both, and has plenty of "chunk" through the half-stack. However, it has seen what I would consider low to medium use and went on the fritz in the middle of our last show. When I step on the switch, it sometimes comes on and sometimes goes off. I figured it was a bad switch and replaced it to no avail. This only leads me to believe that the issue could be in the board. Simple soldering is my limit so I'm on the looks for something else. Great while it lasted though.

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

I just bought this thing at a discount on ebay and I'm not totally disappointed by it. First off, I was putting it in front of a solid state practice amp which I know isn't recommended so I'm sure I didn't get its full potential. It does seem like an alright distortion though. It sounds pretty similar to the sample on this site. The Stare control does have a good effect but to warn you the higher you set it the more it takes away from the low end. It kinda acts more like a mid contour than anything. The high EQ is pretty hissy too so there isn't very good definition of chords that involve the G,B,E strings. On the positive, it is very unique amoung dist. pedals I've used. I'd say its better than Digitech MM and Boss MT2. I'm getting an all tube rig this month so I'll have to see how it works with that thing. If you play on solid state I'd recommend the Silver dragon or something else with a tube. The breathe knob on the SD does the same thing as the Stare control on this pedal.

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

ok, so i bought this pedal before reading that it's more of a tube amp pedal. well i dont have a tube amp, i have a solid state. This pedal was not "monstrously heavy" like it claims. in my opinion, after a few days of messin with it, it sounds like a big muff with a tiny bit more low end. not for metal, unless you consider Godsmack metal

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

I bought this pedal about a month ago and it rocks. The only problem is that mine, both of them, like to turn themselves on, eat batteries, and wont turn of too often. If you leave it with a plug it'll work properly but batteries are food and this thing is frankenstein on them.

Read Before Buying

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

This is a great pedal but please read what its about before you buy it. Do not buy it if you think you can hook this up to your Marshall MG100 and sound like a Mesa Dual Rect. I have a Valveking head and this sounds great in front of it. Very Transparent and warm when the heads bright switch is disengaged. But I played this in front of my Peavey Express combo and other solid states and it does not come close. NOT MONSTER gain but enough to get some KSE and Shadows Fall Style Distortion. Listen to their guitars, Very Transparent and that is the key. So please try this with a Tube amp and not a solid state because it will be 2 different sounds. Scale Back the gain on this and very nice over driven tone. Very Bluesy almost.

Comments about Rocktron Zombie Rectified Distortion Pedal:

Every body says this pedal only works well with tube amps. Not True. I play progressive hard rock through my Zombie and an Epiphone Triggerman 100 half stack.I am playing a Jay Turser custom SG style guitar as well as a kit Les Paul. Both deliver huge chunky tone through this pedal. With it's affordable price tag and great tone you cant go wrong.
