I typically play for 50 bucks and free beer so yeah, I'm a professional. Take my word. It's a great amp loaded with features.

I'm not the kind of guy who buys a car for the cup holders but this thing has it all. The onboard tuner is as accurate as any and beats the snot outta carrying around an inline. The 80 second sampler is great for horsing around with new ideas. Solo channel is rill handy for the stage. The effects are passable to all but the most discerning gearheads though there is slight bleed from reverb to delay. Eh. It's not noticable after a couple beers.

The amp models sound good and you can tweek em all over the place. The dedicated clean channel is excellent- super crispy, fat and warm. It's got enough juice to play any venue you'd find yourself in without a mic. It's built solid.

This one won't impress the purists but it'll make you a happy camper if you're looking for an all in one amp that performs.

I've owned the Cube 80xl for a year now and I've used it on many gigs with great success. I made by money back many times over. This thing absolutely honks on stage, and keeps up with the big boy Fenders like a pro. I made a modification with a new American made 120 watt driver, and this 80 watt amp got much, much louder, although the stock driver is a real screamer too. I run a p.a. speaker out of the External Speaker feature and the drummer can hear me loud and clear. I also hook it up to the p.a. with the Line Out, and man oh man it fills the room with the exact same Tube-Like tone. Of course some sound men with stick a mic in front of it, and that works great too.
Even as a stand alone amp it just rocks the room on the Brit Combo setting, which emulates a Vox. I have the volume at around 10 o'clock and have never had it any higher. I add a touch of the onboard Digital Delay, a wee touch of gain, and it wails. It's like a Swiss Army Amp, lots of features, more than I'll ever use, but it's fun to experiment with, and it's never failed me or disappointed me on a gig, no tubes to worry about, always the same, consistent quality sound, an absolute joy to use. I get so many compliments it's silly. And it's a breeze to transport with it's light weight, and takes up almost no room at all on stage. Even in a big room I've never had a problem being heard, it's amazingly loud and clear. I can't see ever needing another amp, and I've tried them all over the centuries. A buddy was so impressed that he bought one to add to his collection of mostly vintage Fenders, and uses it exclusively now on gigs. Even if you have the money for a Twin Reverb, this is a good investment, cause to me it sounds just like one, and only weighs 38 lbs, and never needs re-tubing or maintenance of any kind. This is my one and only amp and I can't recommend it enough.
Use the Line Out or the External Speaker Out for super flexibility.
      Extremely user friendly, extremely tough.
STILL a great deal for such a workhorse.

Comments about Roland CUBE-80XL 80W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Got a few days ago, this is a cool amp.I've always used tube amps but I always kept a ss amp in my truck as a backup so I am not totally against ss amps.solid state amps just take a bit of fiddling to find the good sounds, however the 80xl gets there easily. I use an open back 1x12 ext cab so the drummer can hear it.Do yourself a favor and buy the 3 Boss fs-6 footswitches to access all the features, they even lock together to make one pedal board. The dyna-amp setting is awesome, pick lightly it's clean ,dig in and it grinds. I guess its considered a modeling amp but at least it doesn't have 200 useless presets at 200 different volume levels. All I know is its loud, sounds great, is versatile, simple to use and I will be playing many a gig with this baby.

Comments about Roland CUBE-80XL 80W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

this is the ONE. I have two twin reverbs, one supertwin reverb, one hot rod deville, one The Twin, two jazz chorus amps, one peavey wharfdale model, and the cube80xl. I have had the jc120 amps since 1985 and I had to spend ten for a new input jack a few months ago. That's about a penny a week. The 80 xl sounds better than what I own, is about 70% less weight, looks dinky on stage but when you hear it it is like WOW. This amp should look like a lion's mouth the way it roars. I even read some complaints about the price being too high. Three tanks of gas price and you can buy one of these. I've been playing guitar since 1956 and have played through way too many amps to name and this tops them all. This amp covers most styles of music. I want it simple, to sound good, have useable effects, not have to fix it every other week, be consistent, and weigh under 40 pounds and cost under 400. THIS IS THE ONE!!

Comments about Roland CUBE-80XL 80W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Have you ever plugged into a new piece of gear and you just couldn't put that thing down? That's what happened to me with the Cube 80XL. For over 40 years I have played through tube amps, including Marshalls, Boogies, Fenders, Hiwatts, Ampegs, and others. I never imagined a solid state amp could sound so sweet. The clean channel is full and powerful. The lead channel gives you complete flexibility and the choice of an array of modeled amp tones. The solo channel totally kicks. It has a programmable memory so you can choose the exact combination of amp model, effects send, delay, reverb, gain, and volume. The phrase looper is awesome, and is great for getting tricky onstage or for practicing. The amp not only puts out a sound worthy of a pro, but it is loud enough for just about any gig. The amp sounds great and it is light and compact. Use of footswitches is highly recommended for this product in order to really enjoy the features. When you get the channel switching and loop station going, this amp gets really fun to play with, and it will open new doors for you. I'm not a huge user of modulation effects, although I find the tremolo to be really cool. The effects sound really good, but not very flexible as far as mix and intensity, which is probably the weakest area of this amp. But that is a minor gripe and I had to reach pretty far for it. Really, I think this is the best sounding amp I have, and then some. Also, it is road ready with a solid cabinet and metal grille. If being a valve amp "purist" means I have to turn my nose up at this wonderful amplifier because it is solid state, then I am pleased to join the ranks of the unwashed masses. I have had a Marshall die on stage more than once, which is twice too many. If I can get this kind of sound with the reliability and maintenance-free performance of a solid state amp, forget about it, this is the amp for me. I very sincerely recommend this amp to anyone who can afford one. In my case, I couldn't afford not to buy it!

Comments about Roland CUBE-80XL 80W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

The Cube 80XL is an all around great guitar amp. It is light, tough, and sounds very good, especially if use moderation when dialing in the effects and gain settings. The Cube 80XL has a nice "feel" to it when playing and is fairly dynamic with very good touch sensitivity, and excellent guitar volume knob cleanup. It takes effects pedals quite well too.
Doesn't have a tube in it, but it sounds great anyways. Roland makes a great product!

This amp is the best modelling amp there is. I've owned a few of them, crazy it sounds as good as it does. You really have to plug into this to believe it. I can't see owning anything else, ever, it is that good, I've been playing for 35 years and have a very fussy ear (too fussy) Don't even try line 6, I flogged my spider iv after hearing this and went right down to buy one. It isn't even a contest. When you put it on the rectifier or extreme(with the phaser)setting you get a Van Halen sound that will just blow your mind. Headroom galore, distortion that borders on ridiculous, just like a 5150 amp. You won't be disappointed, there is nothing like this on the market - nothing......

Comments about Roland CUBE-80XL 80W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This was my second attempt this month at a small practice amp for those 6a pre-work practice sessions. It is turning into so much more.

I didn't expect much given the size and the cost. Reviews on features and quality abound, so I will simply confirm them. Do you like clean jazz? It does it. Do you like classic crunch? It does that too. Rock? Metal? Anything? The kicker is, it does these things very well. This is the most versitile amp I've ever owned.

I prefer tube amps, but for a quick solid state to turn on and practice with, this thing has great tone. I'm finding it is also quite loud and I may use it for practice with a drummer with an ext cab or PA. (note the ext out is 8 ohms) Built like a tank, quiet, wonderful built in effects and very intuitive controls.

Quite simply, it is the best solid state amp I've ever played. For the money, in my estimation, it can't be beat.

This amp allows me to play a wide variety of sounds. Our set list includes acoustic rock, clean electric rock, and crunch electric sounds. To my surprise, my Taylor 810 plugged into the acoustic simulator is a really good sound, and we have all the effects and solo channel available. I like the sound and control so much, I bought two more of these amps and use an abc switch to switch between amps for instant different sounds. No messing with controls and volumes between songs. I added the switchdoctor custom made switch for this amp, and you cannot beat the control of sound and levels with one stomp. The effects are better than my pedals, and direct out to PA makes you heard throughout the room or event you are playing. The sound through PA is exactly like the speaker. We use the Bose Stick. Slight sacrifice of sound from a tube amp, but the control is too amazing to pass up.

Awesome. Im a Metal guy and this was the practice amp for me. It is extremely versatile with tons of tweaking ability. The slightest move of any knob (Including the gain knob) can change the sound entierly. The presets (found in the manual it comes with) sound awesome. Normally I hate preset settings but these blew me away. Only thing I would change on it is the bright switch doesn't have a light to indicate whether it is on or off. If your playing metal and need a good practice amp, this is for you. I recommend also buying a tubescreamer to use as a boost.

this amp works great for guitar and is also one of the best sounding pedal steel guitar amps i have ever used. as all steel players know a pedal steel has to cover a wide range of tones and this will handle that as good as any steel amp that i have used that were designed just for steel. Price and weight wise cant be beat. Power wise it will handle a good sized club.
