A 3-band EQ with Presence control is provided for detailing your sound.

Triple-Channel Flexibility
Switch instantly between Lead, JC Clean, and Solo channels. When it's time to shine onstage, activate the Solo mode, complete with dedicate Volume knob and memory for storing your favorite sound setups for the Lead and JC Clean channels. Channels can be selected manually from the control panel or via footswitch (optional).

Tone Control
The CUBE-80XL combo offers some key additions for shaping and detailing your sound. In addition to its expanded selection of COSM amps and effects, it provides a Bright switch for the JC Clean channel and a dedicated Presence control in EQ section. Also unique to the CUBE-80XL is an External Speaker output, should you want to grow your setup with an optional expansion cabinet.

COSM® Defined
Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM) is Roland's innovative and powerful sound-modeling technology. COSM analyzes the many factors that make up the original sound, such as the electrical and physical characteristics of the original, and then produces a digital model that can reproduce the same sound. In designing the CUBE-XL series, Roland meticulously analyzed and modeled array of world-class amps and effects to bring you the versatile and authentic tone palette that these amps provide.

I bought this amp used to save a few bucks. But when it arrived, it was COMPLETLEY dead. So, I called and the sales rep I spoke with was very helpful. He sent the UPS information in the email, and I sent it back. The replacement arrived and it was in perfect condition. Thank you for the great product AND great customer service!

Overall:

Bought the 40x and it was underpowered for a gig for a room of 2000 sq feet, tried the 60 (used) has a constant hum bo a gating device(confirmed by the Roland people-that is why they discontinued it) which does not bother some-it bothered me a lot.

The 80 x is lovely. It is light, versitile, dependable-BUT I have an old JC60 and there is a very significant difference in the open back JC and close back 80X.Again, might not make a difference to some-but for a gig where sound is critical (I play mostly jazz and  jazz/funk)-I will take the JC even though it is much heavier. To jam, go into the studio for practice etc-I love the Cube.

You might want to compare the open vs closed box sound to see if it makes a difference.Happy I did not sell my JC-60.

Unhappy Picker

Features:

Effects bleed into one another.  Constantly getting a "snare-drum" effect and "white-noise" sound behind guitar notes and a "tremolo" warble without having selected reverb. None of these extraneous sounds were from "hum" or "feedback" or a "bad connection".  They were effects bleedovers.  Reading the reviews, this phenomenon affects all "boutique" amps:  from the Roland XL's to the Vox VT series, to the Fender Mustang.  My advice?  Stay away from these "do-everything" boutique amps.  Period.

I returned the product.   I'm going to buy a Fender Deluxe Reverb and plug in selected pedals.

Quality:

Effects "Bleed-Over" is unacceptable.

Value:

Why pay for something that'll drive you nuts?

Overall:

See above comments on features.

Once again, I returned this amp.  I'm going to purchase a Fender Deluxe Reverb and plug in selected pedals.

A great amp for the quick & in a hurry gig rig!

Features:

After researching this great little power house amp, I decided to purchase one.

It was the right decision, At 80 watts w/ sealed cabinet and extension speaker outlet,

This amp fits the need.

I have been playing for over 40 years as a pro and now worship Christian music.

If you have roadfies and professional hired personel to move your equipment, I understand, but there is no need to hall around stacks of amps to impress the average audience.

If you have pros running the sound system, and you have a direct out and you can get your sound w/ pedals & effects and of course hear yourself, this amp fits the need!!!

I used the working pro 12 SWR w/ the pro sound company and wow, worke d and sounded great!

I also play guitar and wanted something easy to hauk, when I have to put it in the trunk,

This is it! 35 lbs and w/ extendion 12": speaker WOW!!!

I give it a top rating, for what it is and the cost and features are truly a great value, No its not a Marshall doublr stack, and not the price either!!

So I am happy I decide to go w/ this amp to fit the need for the intended use. Plus I won't need a roadie crew to haul it!

STILL a great deal for such a workhorse.

Overall:

I've owned the Cube 80xl for a year now and I've used it on many gigs with great success.  I made by money back many times over.  This thing absolutely honks on stage, and keeps up with the big boy Fenders like a pro.  I made a modification with a new American made 120 watt driver, and this 80 watt amp got much, much louder, although the stock driver is a real screamer too.  I run a p.a. speaker out of the External Speaker feature and the drummer can hear me loud and clear.  I also hook it up to the p.a. with the Line Out, and man oh man it fills the room with the exact same Tube-Like tone.  Of course some sound men with stick a mic in front of it, and that works great too.

Even as a stand alone amp it just rocks the room on the Brit Combo setting, which emulates a Vox.  I have the volume at around 10 o'clock and have never had it any higher.  I add a touch of the onboard Digital Delay, a wee touch of gain, and it wails.  It's like a Swiss Army Amp, lots of features, more than I'll ever use, but it's fun to experiment with, and it's never failed me or disappointed me on a gig, no tubes to worry about, always the same, consistent quality sound, an absolute joy to use.  I get so many compliments it's silly.  And it's a breeze to transport with it's light weight, and takes up almost no room at all on stage.  Even in a big room I've never had a problem being heard, it's amazingly loud and clear.  I can't see ever needing another amp, and I've tried them all over the centuries.  A buddy was so impressed that he bought one to add to his collection of mostly vintage Fenders, and uses it exclusively now on gigs.  Even if you have the money for a Twin Reverb, this is a good investment, cause to me it sounds just like one, and only weighs 38 lbs, and never needs re-tubing or maintenance of any kind.  This is my one and only amp and I can't recommend it enough.
