Wow. after i played on this cabinet i fell inlove with it. It has great tone and it can hold a lot of power without distorting it. It's built very well with the best SWR accessories and products and it's light weight, believe it or not, and has wheels under it for easy transportation! This cabinet is perfect for jamming in your basement or playing small to large gigs. Lots of power. i love it!! BEST SWR MODEL EVER!!!
after comparing with many other cabs (ampeg, gk, hartke, mesa, and even behringer, the swr goliath III sounded better by a wide margin (and handled more power while doing so). the cabinet's features made it easy to move (side handles), and the metal back panel has a dial that allows you to set the tweeter to whatever volume you desire (including totally off). it handles my 5-string j-bass with no problem. even operating at the cabinet's maximum power level, it maintained clarity and punch, all the way down to my low B. it easily keeps up with 2 guitar stacks, a loud drummer, and a 500 watt p.a. (vocals and keyboards), allowing me to cut through the mix. the audience can always hear the bass when i bring this one out, even from across the street. i highly reccomend this cabinet to anyone that wants a powerful cab that sounds awesome.
I have play bass for over 47 years. Gone through a lot of cabinets. The Goliath III is used for smaller gigs were my Sunn 2000s can't go. I still use the Sunn head with Goliath and get a big sound, as close as the Sunn cab sound I have found. I play 5 string Rick and Fender 5 string Squire w/ Rio Grandia pick ups through this rig. great sound. Try the Goliath if you can, you'll like it.
