T-Rex Engineering

Choose your mix of clean boost and dirty overdrive.

Stunning clean sound with just a little dirt around the edges?

Solid overdrive with a tablespoon of clean sparkle to make your distorted chords stand out?

Fire-breathing distortion with just a dash of clean signal for better definition?

The T-Rex Moller is a classic overdrive guitar pedal that provides a wealth of dynamic overdriven tones with superb tonal control, as well as separate transparent 0-20 db adjustable and switchable clean boost, and a unique overdrive/clean mix option.

The mix knob lets you dial in the perfect balance between distorted and non-distorted signal. Rolled all the way up and with distortion maxed too, the effect pedal sounds just like an old tube amp on full volume.

Roll the mix knob back a bit, and your clean signal starts to get through, meaning that if you pick lightly, or roll back the volume on your guitar, you get a stunning clean/softly clipping sound that retains all the feel and dynamics of your original tone, only bigger, louder and richer.

The boost function lets you dial in a solo level, whether the overdrive circuit is activated or not.

Origin

The T-Rex Moller pedal was developed in 2003 for a well-known Danish guitarist called Knud Moller. He plays guitar for Johnny Madsen and has also made solo albums. He needed a good tube screamer with a clean boost, so T-Rex made him that pedal based in Alberta. Other Danish players heard and saw the effect pedal, and they also asked for one. Demand increased. T-Rex decided to improve the guitar pedal and mass produce it.

I don''t get the first reviewer who indicated he owns the product but don't use it?

I owned this product and after one gig, I sent it back to where it belongs...

The overdrive practically adds boost. In order to start getting real overdriven, tube-like sound, you have to put the gain all the way up and the mix all the way up and your guitar volume all the way up. In itself, it may be what one might be looking for, but when you have other pedals in the mix and you want to control your overl sound level and tone, you get 'out of control' playing with the knobs back and forth and it's driving me nuts... plus it is noisy in those levels (especially when you turn the master level up to get the sound cut through and your guitar all the way up to get the overdrive, it over accents the guitar's pickup hums and that's too much to bear...). The clean ads additional boost which might be OK for some playing styles or solo but again only when you get you overall sound intact.. other than that it didn't deliver what I had in mind it would. I switched to Carl Martin which is on its way and i think I will be happier.

The Moller is a little pricey, but you get a lot of control. A nice warm distortion similar to a od808, but you can add in clean signal for sparkle, and a "fat" switch which works good with my tele, or strat. I love the clean boost channel which I use to kick up my leads just a little. I use it at the end of a chain which includes a compressor, delay Ibanez Ts 9,and Maxon Od808. I use the maxon at full distort, the ts 9 at a lower distort for an SRV blues sound and the Moller at about 2/3 distort with some clean signal mixed in so I have 3 levels of distort sound, and I can always combine  them. When you run the Trex last in the chain, the lead boost will boost everything in front of it without changing the tone, and with just as much db gain as you like. I like all 3 of my overdrive pedals for different reasons, but I would choose the Moller for its control, and that clean boost channel for leads, and a distort very similar to (not better)than the od808 distortion. The TS 9 doesn't have quite the "bite" and adds a bit more coloration than the other two.
