OVERVIEW

The best of the legendary Replica delay, now with tap tempo!

The Reptile delay pedal was a milestone in T-Rex Engineering history, where they managed to squeeze all the great sound and most of the features of their revered Replica delay into a pedal that any guitarist could afford. Now, T-Rex is pleased to bring you Reptile 2 Digital Delay, the next step in the evolution of this sonic savage for guitar and bass.

"Baby brother" sprouts Tap Tempo
Tap tempo—the ability to control the tempo of your delay by tapping a button with your foot while you play—is what separated the men from the boys in the first generation of Replica-family delays. Not anymore. With the Reptile 2, T-Rex brought their renowned tap tempo function to the Replica's "baby brother." Tap tempo gives you ultimate control of your delay on stage by letting you match the speed of your delay effect to the tempo of your music without ever missing a beat.

Enhanced Flutter section
Besides Tap Tempo, Reptile 2 also features an enhanced Flutter section with a new Tone control. Flutter introduces a touch of random-sounding warble to your delay for that great retro tape-effect sound. The Tone control lets you take the top end off your delayed repeats for an even more authentic vintage tone.

In the Reptile 2, you'll find a gorgeous-sounding delay that easily beats the competition and comes closer than ever to offering the total Replica control, but at a price you can afford even if you're not (yet) a rock star.

FEATURES
  • Echo, Level, Repeat, and Time controls
  • Enhanced Flutter section with Tone, Speed, and Width controls adds a touch of warble for a vintage, tape-delay sound

Comments about T-Rex Engineering Reptile 2 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This was purchased to replace a Nova Delay. This is not a bells or whistles delay by any means. The sound is very natural and organic but not tone altering. It's now been field tested with a bevy of PRS, Lp's, Strats, and Tele's, thru 65amp, Fender, Ampeg, Frenzel, and old Premiers. With minimal tweaking on the fly I was able to coax really great sweet delay effects and slap. The tap is real plus. As a performing guitarist the reptile is a useful refreshing addition to my pedalboard. It plays well with other pedals also. I use a klon, bb preamp, and keely ts808 and the Reptile cooperates nicely with all my od's.If you want presets and programs this delay will not fill the bill. The quality of tone is amazing for a delay. No loss of signal or altering of tone. A very quality piece in my book!

Analog Tone, Digital Control

By Danny Carvalho

from Kailua, HI

Comments about T-Rex Engineering Reptile 2 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Tried this out in a music store for a good 2 hours, here are my thoughts:PROS: TONE: Tone is pretty warm, but not muddy (lower distortion than cheaper analog units). Sounds VERY close to analog, but much more control over the tone quality. True bypass.CONTROLS: Tap tempo is controlled with a separate button (unlike Boss), making it much easier to use on stage. The flutter feature can?t be turned off anymore, which I don?t mind personally, but some might take issue. The output volume is a great feature, as it allows the pedal to double as a slight boost for solos.BUILD QUALITY appears to be great?made in Denmark, built like a tank.CONS: VALUE/FEATURES: If you want bells and whistles (hold, ping-pong, etc), look elsewhere. This pedal is designed for TONE. If you want a cheaper unit with similar features, check out the TC Electronic Nova Repeater (beware, tone is a little bland by comparison).BATTERY LIFE: It sucks?manual rates it at 30-60 minutes. Get an adaptor.BOTTOM LINE: Great no frills/no compromise pedal. If you want bells and whistles, look elsewhere. If you want a solid pedal with great tone and functional controls, LOOK NO FURTHER.
