Bring a flat-sounding, bedroom-bound guitar to life.

The Tonebug Reverb from T-Rex is a stunning reverb pedal built with one goal in mind: bring life to dry, flat-sounding, bedroom-bound guitar playing. The Tonebug Reverb pedal simulates real-life performance environments, from huge echoing concert halls and modern-sounding live stages to raunchy clubs and basement dives. But no matter what setting you choose, the Tonebug Reverb delivers loads of incredible T-Rex tone will keep you sounding like the best of them.

What makes the Tonebug Reverb such a versatile stompbox is its clever dual-mode feature. The mode switch lets you go from Modern's more contemporary reverb sounds to Spring for a world of vintage reverb that sounds almost too authentic to be true. The T-Rex Tonebug Reverb is really like having 2 separate peals in one.

This pedal makes my reverb-less practice amp sound like something much more expensive, and it has been a life saver when using house amps on gigs. The spring and modern options make it extremely versatile, and the sound is incredibly authentic. I've been using it for about a year and continue to love it.

I was really hoping I could use this to replace the EHX Holy Grail Plus on my pedal board, but the sound quality is sadly lacking compared to the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail spring reverb emulation sounds really accurate and authentic in my estimation and I was hoping for the same here, but the sound is pretty wimpy and not very "spring-like". On the plus side, it is slightly smaller than the EHX, has a nice "clickless" footswitch and plays nice with my 1-spot daisy-chain power supply, (the Holy Grail did not, and I had to use it's own wall wart to avoid any loud background hum/digital interferance). Unfortunately though, the reverb sounds just aren't as good: the spring emulation doesn't really cut it and the "Modern" setting is way overblown, with anything above 9:00 being pretty much unusable. Also, as one other reviewer has pointed it, the pedal colors your overall tone when you click it on... giving you an overall treble boost, whereas I would prefer it to be more "neutral". Probably okay to add some reverb flavor on the cheap to your bedroom practise amp, but if you are looking for some classic 60's spring reverb sounds I would recomend you pay the extra money and get the EHX Holy Grail plus.

Comments about T-Rex Engineering Tonebug Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have been searching for a realistically priced reverb pedal, as a reverb tank is just a bit to large and toooo expensive. I am a real big electro-harmonix fan and i have played on all their reverb pedals and they were ok but not that awesome analog vintage warm reverb i heard in my head and on countles records. After searching through a few other brands I wanted to puke. Just about when i was assuming that i would just have to break down, save, and buy a reverb tank, i found the tonebug. Let me tell you this thing is the closest thing to a mini reverb tank you will find.
I play primarilly grunge and hard rock and this fits in nicely with my othr gear. I run a 20+ year old Gretsch Country Club(with earni ball rock-n-roll 10's strings) through a vox wah, carbon copy delay, boss delay(the only digital pedal i own besides my tuner), big muuff pi, fulltone ultimate octave, mxr full bore metal(which i set the eq on crazy to get more a high gain fuzz tone with very little high frequency), ibanez tube screamer, and a boss chromatic tuner. I run this through a vox ac head and cab and it sounds incredible. I also run all this using only monster gold connector rock cables. im finally getting close to the tone i hear in my head.
The next pedals on my list to purchase are the electro-harmonix small clone, the mxr script phase 90, a joe meek floor compressor, and a ISP decimator noise reducer. The next amp will be the egnator tweaker 40 which is crazy awesome, and a Bugera 1960(so i can switch between a low gain amp and a high gain amp but still have that vintage luster).
I would reccoment this Reverb pedal to anyone wanting a great vintage reverb. I set this reverb very mildly (spring)and primarily do not turn it off ever. It works great and is built like a tank.

          ....a must buy

The only thing I'm gonna say is that this unit once turned on it will modify the tone of your guitar/amp setup.
I was looking for something that would add a reverb to my sound not a sound to my sound.

I blow harp through a 50's Astatic J-T 30 then into the T-Rex reverb unit and out of a 1957 Silvertone, 30 watt, single 12. Simply AWESOME in smaller venues and for recording.

I went through 3 of these units and all failed within 20 minutes of use. The 1st unit made a loud "pop" and died after I first turned it on. The 2nd "exchanged" unit (from Musician's Friend) lasted 20 minutes on a gig and died after making the same "popping" sound. Contacted T-Rex and they shipped me a 3rd unit and the on-off button would not stay on unless held down manually. I shipped the 2nd and 3rd units back to Denmark asking them to check out their quality control (these units are made in [*] with cheap components) over a month ago and have heard nothing back from the company after repeated email inquiries.

                Nice tone

Comments about T-Rex Engineering Tonebug Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Fix the power supply problem and battery compartment and it's a winner. As is, it sounds good but could have been better designed. At this price, it might be a bit over priced.
Best features for the money. Sounds great, but higher levels (turning the knobs past 10 o' clock) creates sounds almost no-one would use -sounds like you're in an elevator shaft or something. Lower levels sound great, but there's a slight (weird) delay in spring mode that only owners of spring tank-type amps will notice. Modern mode is more like a 'hall' reverb, and likely has limited uses. Surf rock comes to mind...
Solid and heavy, but with two obvious flaws. The battery compartment is too small (requires some patience to get a 9v in there at all, and I broke my compartment cover latch doing it). And, it eats batteries like they're free. I have to replace the 9v battery almost every time I use it -and I do turn it off and unplug the cables. I guess, this one needs an AC adapter for sure.
I got mine for a little less then they are now. It was a great deal. Against a real spring tank there's no contest. You can tell the difference. To add a touch of reverb to my Vox ACTV4, it's perfect (at the price I paid).

I got this little guy for Christmas this past year in an effort to jazz up my rig. I play through a barebones 5 watt head and needed a reverb to bring some extra life to my sound. I have played through quality equipment, I've played 60's Fenders and did a two year stint with a borrowed Mesa Boogie combo, and I can say that the Tonebug reverb does not sound like those amps. But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. It's perfect for live situations and gets the job done. It's the best tone I've heard for a pedal reverb and I would replace it in a heart beat. Accolades t-rex, accolades.

One of the worst reverbs I've ever used

Comments about T-Rex Engineering Tonebug Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Please steer clear of this pedal. Maybe I just received a bad one, but I highly doubt it. Unless you like cheesy, noisy, icy, unnatural reverb, do not even think about buying this.
This is not a feature laden pedal, but that's not really a problem.
The switch seems nice, but it stops there. Mine had roaring white noise, and the modern/spring switch was obviously wired in reverse. The pedal behaves as if it's always on, so if you want to go from dry to reverb, your reverb signal will include whatever you were playing BEFORE to engaging the pedal. This is poorly designed. The spring is okay, but not worth this price.
The construction is pretty good, but it doesn't make it worth the cost, or make up for the poor tone and poor design.

Comments about T-Rex Engineering Tonebug Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this guy because I wasn't happy with the reverb on my Frontman 212R and the Holy Grail Nano I bought seemed to muddy my sound too much. The Tonebug compliments my sound with just the right reverb. On top of it, the box itself is much more solid than the Nano I previously owned.
Though I mainly stick to Spring Reverb, the Mod is a welcome addition.
This box is very solid, the knobs and switch feel sturdy. Heavier than most of my other pedals, which I like.
I traded my Holy Grail Reverb Nano for this, have not regretted it one bit.
