OVERVIEW

Compact combo with big punch and features.

Other features include six effects types - chorus, flanger, vibrato octave, SpectraComp and Bass Drive - a headphone output (which mutes the speaker), auxiliary input to play along with your favorite tunes, USB mini port, a mute button for quiet tuning, and a balanced XLR output for direct recording in the studio or a clean feed to the mixer for live playing.

this amp is exceptional i replaced a 100 watt acoustic combo and what an upgrade it is. Great warm tone at any setting with any bass regardless of active or passive pickups. The cleans are amazing and it has a ton of headroom (it can be really loud) built in tube drive gives a nice ampeg style growl. The toneprint is cool to add different effects on the fly (i normally just use the chorus though it is really good) but even without that the amp is worth every penny. The amp has been bullet proof for almost a year now with me using it in my band and my son's bass player using it in their pop punk and hard core bands. It just right for me to use for small to medium sized gigs and as a monitor on stage and run through the pa with the direct out for them. It is so good his bass player is buying the 2x10 version for himself. Also the amp records very well whether mic'd or direct out. Finally the weight. It is very light weight i have a 15 watt combo and this monster is only 8 lbs heavier. Hands down i would recommend this amp to anyone regardless of price.

Was meant to be used for smaller gigs but it started acting up almost instantly. Volume drops and static , sent it to be repaired took over 2 1/2 months and cost me shipping. Had to send emails back and forth because the problem is intermittent and it stopped doing it so they wanted to send it back to me. Much later it appears on my doorstep and is labeled repaired. Resoldered something and called it fixed. I got it back and it went on the fritz almost instantly , have sent info to TC requesting a new amp or refund and they told me the only option is repairs now with free shipping whoopdedoo. Being repaired again now only worked for about a week and a half in 8 months . Waste of time and money . Don't buy this garbage get a good amp , you get what you pay for.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I play in a three-piece funk band that necessitates some serious bottom end thump.

I think that it is funny how the demo vids are done by bassists who play a thousand notes a minute and...eh-hem, chords. Who the heck plays that in a band?! Just get in sync with your drummer and carry the song, man.

This is a powerful amp with LOTS of bottom end. I use it for bar gigs, never turning it up past 10:00 and it sounds great. Other reviewers have poo-pooed the tuner, but it works just fine and is handy.

The first thing I did was to ditch the chorus and download the compressor from the website. 'Lots of thump! The tolex isn't bomb-proof so my wife sewed a cover for it. I would recommend one if you are toting it around.

I am very happy with this amp. Did I mention that it is light?

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I play bass but don't own this amp. the guy playing thru it plays a 5 string, not sure of the problem here, amp sounds hard, strongly resonant around 200 cycles, no matter what room, I have worked with the amp and player to round out the sound, or, "warm" it up, but we don't seem to be able to avoid it. He hasn't tried the imported sounds yet, don't know if that will help? From my experience of singing in a band alongside this rig, the overbearing tone in the low-mids hijacks the sound spectrum in that area, overpowers and drowns the low end of the male voice, causing myself, and our other vocalist to "holler" to be heard. what someone else refered to as "punch", lacks snap, I hear a dull, hard sound, and missing the physical sub frequencies. A multi-band equalizer, in-line somewhere, might help, but should it be necessary? I do not recomend this product unless you prefer bad, loud, obnoxious tone. It is small and light, I must say.

I bought this to use as a practice amp and I said this is so cool. 4 months later it cuts off by itself. I said okay I'm under warranty so I sould have no issues. Musicians Friend referred me to someone else to fix it and I have to pay for the shipping. Never again. Make sure you read the fine print before you purchase.

I ordered a custom cover before i got the amp home. Lesson learned. I would have prefered the standard bass, middle, treble controls for this amp. The high E-Q does nothing. I don't know what they were using in the samples but it wasn't the 1-15" version.

I have been playing bass for 44 years, so I have owned many rigs. This one is light weight, has good tone, and enough power. It is not an SVT, but does have direct out, allowing you to come through the PA at any concert. My only wish is that it had a speaker out like my SWRs and others I own. The fact that I can use my smart phone to input a new tone in seconds makes up for that. I have a video from an outdoor performance, where I was not input into the PA. I am surprised how well my 5-string cut through the sound using this 250 watt rig. It is now my primary rig.

I've now been playing BG250-115 for a couple of months and I'm really pleased by how loud and well it sounds.
I play in a couple of bands where I play all from Hard Rock to Pop music.
It's easy to dial in the tone I like for each genre I play.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I sold off my rig of an amp head with a 115 cab and a 210 cab. Needed lighter gear with big sound. I know I will not completely get there with just this, but in bigger venues I'm always using DI.

This accomplishes my goal in a lightweight, good sounding combo amp. This alone was a sell, and the TonePrint feature was an added bonus. I love experimenting with it. Plus, a free Ditto Looper!! I have yet to play out with it, but look forward to it.

My con was in regards to the one input which says Active/Passive. The issue came when I used my active settings, which I always use, it distorted. Even at extremely low volumes. Sounded great with my electronics off, but when they were on I was thinking it wasn't going to work for me. Eventually I figured out I needed to drastically lower the volume on my bass and boost on the amp. Ahh! that's it. So now I'm happy. I think two separate inputs are better, with the Active being padded electronically, not manually, but I knew it only had the one going in. It might be an issue switching between P/A basses but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

I'm a working pro. I needed a lightweight, powerful, and easily portable bass amp system. This combo has been a great solution for me. 250w, simple and powerful EQ section with clean preamp (I usually run the EQ flat, it sounds that good), light, DI for bigger venues... I would have liked to see an effects loop, but I get aroung that. The built in tuner is OK, not great. It is good for a quick drop-D tuning and back up to standard. I still take a standalone tuner for tuning before rehearsal and gigs. Overall, I'm really pleased with this combo. I recommend it to anyone, from novice to working pros, looking for something small, portable, and powerful. Oh, and inexpensive. :)
