OVERVIEW

The TC Electronic BG250-115 bass combo amp took the power and tone that made the Bass Amp 2.0 line so popular, and then loaded it up with top-notch features. The 2x10" 250W combo comes equipped with a built-in tuner, 3-band intelligent EQ and, of course, TC Electronic's trademark TonePrint system that allows users to beam professionally made effects and tones from their smartphones directly to the BG250-210, controllable with an optional footswitch.

Other features include six effects types - chorus, flanger, vibrato octave, SpectraComp and Bass Drive - a headphone output (which mutes the speaker), auxiliary input to play along with your favorite tunes, USB mini port, a mute button for quiet tuning, and a balanced XLR output for direct recording in the studio or a clean feed to the mixer for live playing.

Compact combo with big punch and features.

this amp is exceptional i replaced a 100 watt acoustic combo and what an upgrade it is. Great warm tone at any setting with any bass regardless of active or passive pickups. The cleans are amazing and it has a ton of headroom (it can be really loud) built in tube drive gives a nice ampeg style growl. The toneprint is cool to add different effects on the fly (i normally just use the chorus though it is really good) but even without that the amp is worth every penny. The amp has been bullet proof for almost a year now with me using it in my band and my son's bass player using it in their pop punk and hard core bands. It just right for me to use for small to medium sized gigs and as a monitor on stage and run through the pa with the direct out for them. It is so good his bass player is buying the 2x10 version for himself. Also the amp records very well whether mic'd or direct out. Finally the weight. It is very light weight i have a 15 watt combo and this monster is only 8 lbs heavier. Hands down i would recommend this amp to anyone regardless of price.

I bought this to use as a practice amp and I said this is so cool. 4 months later it cuts off by itself. I said okay I'm under warranty so I sould have no issues. Musicians Friend referred me to someone else to fix it and I have to pay for the shipping. Never again. Make sure you read the fine print before you purchase.

I've gigged out with this for years and have literally treated it less than perfect. I bought it to relieve me of hauling all that extra heavy cabs to gigs. It's great. Sure more expensive rigs will sound a little crisper and have a little more punch but run this direct thru the board and can tweet it from there. I like the effects. I've got SWR stuff and Ampeg stuff in my playroom. I carry my TC Electronics. I'm old and it's all I need. Can't beat the bag for the buck

Nice amp. Lots of features - especially the tone print. Built in effects. Not as much tweeking as stand alone effects, but certainly more cost effective. Easy to use, good sound. Headphones, line in and built in tuner.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

Having read the negative reviews I'm a bit puzzled. I've owned mine for roughly three years and have never had one issue with it's dependability so all I can say is that someone must have received a bad one and that happens with every company and with every product sold. Mine has even traveled with me to road gigs of over 1500 miles round trip in the back of a pickup truck and performed flawlessly so it hasn't been babied.

The EQ'ing of the tone stack is well described in the manual and other literature and works just fine once one takes the time to learn and understand how it works. The high EQ works fine when it receives input that's within it's frequency bands and it eliminates the need for an attenuator to reduce hiss from the HF tweeter since it's designed to be self attenuating. Those who struggle with it have probably not taken the learn how the tone stack works or simply prefer something different and should buy something else but it's no reason to advise others to "steer clear" of this one. It pretty obvious that if those performing in the videos can EQ the amp properly then it can be done by those who do understand it. TC doesn't make two different versions of the amp so blaming it for operator error is unfair criticism IMHO.

In it's class it's a very solid well performing amp with far more "balls" than I initially expected from only 250 watts. The amp/speaker combination is quite efficient. Ive owned many bass amps over the past 40 years and overall I'm quite happy with this one and will probably buy a second BG250 in the near future.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I have a brand new BG-250-115. The tone control is the worst I have ever heard. It sounds nothing like what I hear in the videos. I have been reduced to using my Genz-Benz head to power the speaker, bypassing the TC electronics. Now it is usable for live gigs but I have put it up for sale in Craigslist for 200 with a custom cover. I don't think it's worth that. but I have 475 invested... Peavy, Hartke, Fender.. any of their combos would have been better. Very disappointed. I waited past the return point before I hade a chance to try on a live gig or I would have returned the unit and purchased on of the above mentioned amps in the same price range. A standard bass , mid and treble control would have been nice. I have no clue what goes on with the amp at this point.

I ordered a custom cover before i got the amp home. Lesson learned. I would have prefered the standard bass, middle, treble controls for this amp. The high E-Q does nothing. I don't know what they were using in the samples but it wasn't the 1-15" version.

I play bass but don't own this amp. the guy playing thru it plays a 5 string, not sure of the problem here, amp sounds hard, strongly resonant around 200 cycles, no matter what room, I have worked with the amp and player to round out the sound, or, "warm" it up, but we don't seem to be able to avoid it. He hasn't tried the imported sounds yet, don't know if that will help? From my experience of singing in a band alongside this rig, the overbearing tone in the low-mids hijacks the sound spectrum in that area, overpowers and drowns the low end of the male voice, causing myself, and our other vocalist to "holler" to be heard. what someone else refered to as "punch", lacks snap, I hear a dull, hard sound, and missing the physical sub frequencies. A multi-band equalizer, in-line somewhere, might help, but should it be necessary? I do not recomend this product unless you prefer bad, loud, obnoxious tone. It is small and light, I must say.

This should hold up as a small gig, church, etc combo- my 74' Gibson EB3 had to push for volume , but the bass is 40 years old with the original pickup. The best part of the transaction was the attitude of Musician's Friend staff- I first tried an extension speaker for my GK 200 MB- just didn't cut it- called up & enquired about the TC- paperwork was done- amp on way took me 15 minutes!!! Good product knowledge and great service- Think I'm going to like this little amp

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I sold off my rig of an amp head with a 115 cab and a 210 cab. Needed lighter gear with big sound. I know I will not completely get there with just this, but in bigger venues I'm always using DI.

This accomplishes my goal in a lightweight, good sounding combo amp. This alone was a sell, and the TonePrint feature was an added bonus. I love experimenting with it. Plus, a free Ditto Looper!! I have yet to play out with it, but look forward to it.

My con was in regards to the one input which says Active/Passive. The issue came when I used my active settings, which I always use, it distorted. Even at extremely low volumes. Sounded great with my electronics off, but when they were on I was thinking it wasn't going to work for me. Eventually I figured out I needed to drastically lower the volume on my bass and boost on the amp. Ahh! that's it. So now I'm happy. I think two separate inputs are better, with the Active being padded electronically, not manually, but I knew it only had the one going in. It might be an issue switching between P/A basses but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
