this amp is exceptional i replaced a 100 watt acoustic combo and what an upgrade it is. Great warm tone at any setting with any bass regardless of active or passive pickups. The cleans are amazing and it has a ton of headroom (it can be really loud) built in tube drive gives a nice ampeg style growl. The toneprint is cool to add different effects on the fly (i normally just use the chorus though it is really good) but even without that the amp is worth every penny. The amp has been bullet proof for almost a year now with me using it in my band and my son's bass player using it in their pop punk and hard core bands. It just right for me to use for small to medium sized gigs and as a monitor on stage and run through the pa with the direct out for them. It is so good his bass player is buying the 2x10 version for himself. Also the amp records very well whether mic'd or direct out. Finally the weight. It is very light weight i have a 15 watt combo and this monster is only 8 lbs heavier. Hands down i would recommend this amp to anyone regardless of price.

Was meant to be used for smaller gigs but it started acting up almost instantly. Volume drops and static , sent it to be repaired took over 2 1/2 months and cost me shipping. Had to send emails back and forth because the problem is intermittent and it stopped doing it so they wanted to send it back to me. Much later it appears on my doorstep and is labeled repaired. Resoldered something and called it fixed. I got it back and it went on the fritz almost instantly , have sent info to TC requesting a new amp or refund and they told me the only option is repairs now with free shipping whoopdedoo. Being repaired again now only worked for about a week and a half in 8 months . Waste of time and money . Don't buy this garbage get a good amp , you get what you pay for.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I've been playing all types of music in all types of venues forever. Let's get to it. This amp is light, and it's got the horsepower. But, the short story is that it can't do much for a bass that doesn't already sound good on it's own. The TC tone stack is a good idea in theory, but let's face it: it's a 3 band EQ. It just cuts at slightly different frequencies than it boosts. And, I read some reviews that people went for the 210 over the 115 model for more "punch." Well, this amp has PLENTY of punch, as long as the bass you're playing can deliver it. And, unlike some 10 and 12 inch cabinets I've tried, the sound doesn't lose it's balls once you get 10 to 20 feet out in front of it. A 15 inch cabinet just seems to carry distance better. And, once you get a good EQ dialed in, it sounds punchy and tight. But, it has some issues. I think they are EQ related.

In trying my arsenal of basses through it, some sounded really good, and some didn't. I think it comes down to not enough EQ control at the right frequencies. But, if you're a long-time pro-player like me, you have a 32 band EQ stuffed in your effects rack. And, there's nothing you can't fix with a good 32 band graphic EQ. And, this is what I resorted to to get the sound I wanted out of a couple basses. Call me a perfectionist, but I use that EQ inline most of the time anyway. I just wish this amp had an effects loop.

The TonePrint feature surprised me. It's easy to use. I didn't like the chorus the amp came with, so I'm still searching the website for one I like. But, the tube effect that was included blew me away. I set the knob on 5 or 6 and close my eyes, and it sounds like my old Mesa Boogie Bass 400. Smooth, warm, and very little overdrive. It's just right. But, you will spend some time adjusting the gain in relation to the master to keep it from sounding wimpy at certain volumes. It takes some tinkering, but you can get this amp to sound really great. Hey, it's only 39 lbs!

This is a great amp for a low price. The 2 toneprints are fun to play with but they can be hit or miss , you have to hear it when you play to find out if it is usable. Tuner works good and the footswitch is pretty much required to have full use of the amp.Nice to be able to play a phone or MP3 through it and the headphone out is a nice extra. Direct out solves any volume issues if you have no sense and are an overly loud band.

Great sounding amp, and powerful enough for both small bar gigs as well as larger venues going through a PA system. Cuts through very nice, and sounds amazing. Very light weight and portable. Cover would be nice to protect better for the active musician.

I've gigged out with this for years and have literally treated it less than perfect. I bought it to relieve me of hauling all that extra heavy cabs to gigs. It's great. Sure more expensive rigs will sound a little crisper and have a little more punch but run this direct thru the board and can tweet it from there. I like the effects. I've got SWR stuff and Ampeg stuff in my playroom. I carry my TC Electronics. I'm old and it's all I need. Can't beat the bag for the buck

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-115 250W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

Having read the negative reviews I'm a bit puzzled. I've owned mine for roughly three years and have never had one issue with it's dependability so all I can say is that someone must have received a bad one and that happens with every company and with every product sold. Mine has even traveled with me to road gigs of over 1500 miles round trip in the back of a pickup truck and performed flawlessly so it hasn't been babied.

The EQ'ing of the tone stack is well described in the manual and other literature and works just fine once one takes the time to learn and understand how it works. The high EQ works fine when it receives input that's within it's frequency bands and it eliminates the need for an attenuator to reduce hiss from the HF tweeter since it's designed to be self attenuating. Those who struggle with it have probably not taken the learn how the tone stack works or simply prefer something different and should buy something else but it's no reason to advise others to "steer clear" of this one. It pretty obvious that if those performing in the videos can EQ the amp properly then it can be done by those who do understand it. TC doesn't make two different versions of the amp so blaming it for operator error is unfair criticism IMHO.

In it's class it's a very solid well performing amp with far more "balls" than I initially expected from only 250 watts. The amp/speaker combination is quite efficient. Ive owned many bass amps over the past 40 years and overall I'm quite happy with this one and will probably buy a second BG250 in the near future.

I have a brand new BG-250-115. The tone control is the worst I have ever heard. It sounds nothing like what I hear in the videos. I have been reduced to using my Genz-Benz head to power the speaker, bypassing the TC electronics. Now it is usable for live gigs but I have put it up for sale in Craigslist for 200 with a custom cover. I don't think it's worth that. but I have 475 invested... Peavy, Hartke, Fender.. any of their combos would have been better. Very disappointed. I waited past the return point before I hade a chance to try on a live gig or I would have returned the unit and purchased on of the above mentioned amps in the same price range. A standard bass , mid and treble control would have been nice. I have no clue what goes on with the amp at this point.
