OVERVIEW

High-power, lightweight head.

Bass rigs used to be the hardest part of getting a band to and from a gig. Once upon a time, 300-watt all tube bass heads with 8 x 10 cabinets ensured that whether or not your bass player was in good playing shape, he or she was in good physical shape. TC Electronic's BH800 delivers 800 watts in a package that weighs only 9 lbs.

The BH800 is an answer to a marketplace that was floored by the BH250, but that wanted more output power. Enter the BH800. With the BH800 you get 800 Watts of raw power and all the punch and creative features your heart could possibly desire, without compromising the super-portable and lightweight build. With the intelligent EQ section and the option of driving several cabs at once, BH800 is the natural choice for every modern bass player.

TonePrint: Creativity At The Core
With the innovative TonePrint technology, if you need a swirling vintage flanger or a TubeDrive for your next rock gig, a compressor or a chorus when you play with your funk band, you simply load them into BH800. TonePrint means signature effects made by the most awesome bass players around, like Victor Wooten, Duff McKagan, Richard Bona, Nathan East and many more. These TonePrints are available for free - straight from your smartphone - and with 2 switchable TonePrint slots available, the tonal possibilities are virtually endless. With its lightweight, portable design, Intelligent EQ section, ultra-precise on-board tuner and unlimited tonal versatility through TonePrint, the BH800 is a tool that will help you to define and perfect your sound and your unique approach to bass.

EQ!
With the BH800's intelligent EQ section, TC Electronics have established themselves as being ahead of the tone-tailoring curve. Behind the deceptively simple four-dial design lies a frequency range perfectly tuned for bass. Whether you like your sound scooped, fat and groovy or filled with high-end sparkle, the BH800's tone controls will cut and boost in all the right places, leaving you sounding your best every time.

Built-In Tuner
The BH800's ultra-precise onboard tuner is there when you need it. It's always on, so you constantly have a clear read of whether you're in tune or not. With a frequency range that supports up to six-string basses, you can be sure that your low-notes will always be in tune.

Balanced Output
Use the balanced output to send a signal to a PA or a sound engineer when playing live, or use it as a high-quality bass preamp in the studio when recording, taking advantage of the tone controls and TonePrint features. Choose between sending a pre signal for a completely clean and direct sound or choose post to get the flavor of the amp.

Plug & Play
Use your phone, MP3 player or similar to jam along your favorite tracks. Just plug it into the AUX input and you're ready for a rehearsal session, combining your favorite music with your favorite bass tone.

Comments about TC Electronic BH800 800W Bass Amp Head:

I received the BH800 on trade and had been wanting to try out a TC head for a while. The amp looks great and has excellent construction and feel to it. The features that are built in to this amp are also very nice. However, the tone was very bland and weak sounding. I had to boost the mids and highs quite a bit to keep it from sounding like I had a blanket covering my cab. If you are looking for that dark, semi-vintage tone then this amp might work for you. If you light bright and clear tones then I would recommend a different amp.

The Tone Print functions worked great. It's very simple to change between Tone Prints and even download different tones into the amp. However, I didn't find enough good sounds to compensate for the natural weak tone of the amp. The selector switch to go from each Tone Print channel is poorly placed and difficult to switch unless you have tiny fingers. You would definitely want to use the pedal to switch between Tone Prints in a gig setting.

The volume of the amp does not seem like 800 watts to me. I have no way to measure this, I'm just going off of playing other amps side-by-side with the BH800.

Comments about TC Electronic BH800 800W Bass Amp Head:

I bought this amp head to keep as a backup, but as soon as I played not even 10 notes, this baby became my primary amp head -- I'd never heard my basses sound like this. This amp raised my standards, standards that my other heads couldn't equal. I then sold my other amp heads, and bought a second tc electronic (BH550) as backup for my BH800. Soundwise,I give this amp 5+ stars, but only gave it four stars, because it does not come with an owner's manual,or any other literature, and the on / off switch is on the rear panel instead of on the front. Looking past those couple of criticsms, the sound quality of this amp is nothing short of awesome. It brings out the best in all of my basses.

Comments about BH800 800W Bass Amp Head:

Loving this amp. Small size, light weight but thumps. Bought this amp to replace a much heavier 500 watt amp. The tone prints are going to add a new dynamic to my playing. Glad I made the purchase.

Comments about TC Electronic BH800 800W Bass Amp Head:

I've owned more bass gear than most bass players and am very critical and picky about most everything. This amp just totally blows me away in tone and power. Took me a while to learn however that the EQ knobs at 12 o'clock does not sound like the flat setting one would expect from most amps. Better to start with the knobs around 9 o'clock and adjust from there. The EQ knobs not only the cut or boost, but the EQ points also vary throughout the range giving it great versatility. The TonePrints is just an added plus, but I wish it had an effects loop. That's my only gripe. btw, unlike the RH heads that misstated the actually power output, the BH heads seem to be true to their numbers. How would I describe the sound? This is the only amp I've come across that reminds me of my Walter Woods Ultra, but maybe better. Highly Recommend!!

Comments about TC Electronic BH800 800W Bass Amp Head:

I purchased this amp because i wanted to replace my Behemoth Genz Benz GBE 1200. I did a lot of research and decided to go with my gut. This amp has what is called an "Intelligent" EQ section. This turns out to be an accurate description. If you know anything about proper bass tone, the Mid-section is the critical frequency area that allows the bass to sit where it is supposed to in any mix. The Low mid and High mid knobs on this amp are mission critical to focusing the depth of your sound. I read another reviewers comments on the "lack of highs" or presence. This has remedied this. In addition to the intuitive eq section the Tone Print features are outstanding. The Spectra Compression in particular has a "Slap setting" that will give the user more Fidelity and Brilliance thus fixing any High end loss you may have. I've tried this amp with every thing from a 300 watt Single 12" cab to the Ampeg 8X10!!! It delivers insane tone and bottom end!!! Couple this with the fact that it weighs in at 5.5 lbs. and the Price Point, it's hard to beat!!! As with most everything in life, it boils down to personal taste!!! I highly recommend you check this innovative amp out!!!
