The Flashback is exactly what I had been looking for. It's compact (I believe it's the smallest pedal with a tap-tempo equivalent); It has good emulations of various delay types; Features analog pass-through of the dry signal; Runs on standard power.

Instad of a foot-controlled tap-tempo, the Flashback let's you dictate the tempo my holding the bypass switch down (which mutes the guitar) and strumming the tempo on the guitar strings. It works great if you're able to set the tempo before the song starts and can commit to it. But it can be a deal breaker if you need to change tempos mid song.

The various delay emulations are preset and can't be edited. But I find them to be very tasteful and not in need of tweaking. Note that the analog delays don't self-modulate or pitch-shift with knob turns like real bucket brigades do.

While the repeats are digitally generated, the dry signal remains analog. So it always feels natural.

The Looper feels like an afterthought. It outputs at a lesser volume .

The Flashback runs on standard 9v battery or normal AC adapter. It works in a pedalboard daisy chain with a typical "one spot" adapter. Also works with Sanyo Pedal Juice battery. Like most digital gear, it will eat more power than an analog delay.

It breaks, TC doesn't fix.

Same unit as the transition I bought, which promptly stopped working after warranty, just emits a high pitch squeal now, and TC won't fix. Just said out of warranty, tough luck.Read complete review

Last time I buy TC. I think they have quality control problems. And really don't care to find out what's wrong.

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

Just got this delay and am very impressed. Already have MXR Carbon Copy and Boss DD-2. Had to get this because my amp only takes line level effects through the effects loop. The FB fits the bill and it sounds great. The Analog and tape delays sound the best so far but more experimenting is needed. It's no wonder this pedal got Guitar Player's Editors' Pick. A couple drawbacks: The Mod delay's sound is not as good as the MXR with the mod button on but I never used the mod on the MXR much anyway. The delay knob is very sensitive (except on slapback) and its sensitivity changes when you change modes (i.e from 2290 to analog to tape).

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

Missing a few features I was hoping for:
1.Can't dial in 100% wet delayed sound. (useful with reverse delay)
    2. Pitch doesn't bend and swoop when delay time is changed.
    3. Can't adjust tap tempo on the fly.

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a very, very cool pedal, and I think solely as a delay, the Flashback stands out far beyond it's competitors in this price range. What's sad is that TC had the opportunity to create something truly amazing, but I think they missed it with a couple of the features. The looper is a huge disappointment. 40s of loop time is bigger than the DL4 and the EHX Hazarai, both of which cost more than the flashback, but it's looper is incredibly impractical. There is no way to adjust the loop volume against whatever you're playing over it. Turn the FX knob down, and EVERYTHING gets quieter (and vice versa). It's functional, but not versatile at all and way harder to use than it could have been. The other thing that is kind of a letdown is the inability to do sound-on-sound oscillation. I don't know anyone who does that very frequently, but nevertheless it's one of the things that can make delay pedals cool. Overall, this pedal completely outshines most of the other digital delays in it's price range (certainly the DD-7 for a little less), and comes close to the category of things like the DL4, DD-20, and Nova Repeater. The only things separating it from the more expensive digital delays are the sound quality and the ability to save and load presets. The Flashback isn't the game changer it could have been, but it's a great delay for the price.
True bypass, stereo, audio tapping, dotted rhythms, big delay time, and lots of different modes at your disposal. The looper is a big letdown, and it's sad that you can't do sound-on-sound oscillation.
Haven't used it long enough to really see what the build quality is like. If you're expecting anything close to the quality of true analog delay, you'll be disappointed by the sound of this pedal. As digital delays go, it's satisfactory.
Even with the looping drawback, the Flashback still has an enormous number of features for the price.

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is an excellent delay pedal. Do yourself a favor. If you have an iPhone, download the Toneprint app, update your firmware on the pedal, and go nuts! If your existing pedals are true bypass, no need to hook up directly to the pedal to flash a Toneprint. I flashed all of mine while still in the loop. Just make sure the pedal is on Toneprint, and the other pedals on your pedalboard are not turned on. I have 5 TCE pedals and 3 are Toneprint enabled. The app has all the Toneprints stored, and updates when new ones come out. Sweet! Turn up guitar, launch app, pick Toneprint, and press beam, put iPhone speaker close to pickup selected, DONE! You now have a name guitarist's tweak. A quick Thomas Blug delay, anyone?

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

Buy the AC power adapter, this thing doesn't even come with a battery. Not sure if this is a customs issue or what, but com'on TC you should be able to plug right in out of the box and start rocking. I looked for the TC adapter at time of purchase on Musician's Friend and couldn't find it. Now to the good stuff. Great sounding pedal that has a lot of features packed into it. You can use this thing for spacy delay all the way down to just adding a little bit of room to your sound. The looper option is a ton of fun, but there is only a FX level nob and no way to control the volume on your guitar when riffing over the top of it. Be prepared to futz around with gain stages between your amp, guitar, and the FX level. As soon as you add any other pedals to the mix forget about it. Not super practacle for my applications but great to lay down a bass riff over a drum maching and then switch back to guitar on a seperate amp. If your're looking for a real looper wait for the TC Ditto to come out. If you want a killer delay pedal without shelling out the $$$ for the Tube Tabe Echo this baby is it! The toneprint feature isn't as easy to use as they advertise, kind of a gimic in my opinion. But at least they are thinking outside of the box and allowing for some customization posibilities. The market is saturated with delay pedals from every vendor under the sun, but this one is hands down the best in this price range. The build quality is sturdy and the sound is lucious... at least through my hand wired class A tube amps. It gets the job done and will crank out any kind of delay you could ever want or need. If you're on the fence just buy it already you won't be disappointed.

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

What a great pedal. It has so many features, and the sound is there. What is nice is the dry sound is analog. So important. Can't comment on the looping section of pedal, cause I haven't used it. The tape delay mode stands out, along with all the other modes. Very quiet, stereo in and out, buffered or true bypass. Also can use the effect 100 percent wet for effects loops. Handles any type of level you put in it whether its instrument or line level with no problem. Fantastic for synths. The effect level has its own control also. You really can't go wrong with the pedal and the price is right.

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a really nice digital delay kind of a Swiss knife, however it has some problems. The looper is nearly useless and the tone print software is not ready for prime time. The tone print interface does not fit on Windows 7 computers and you can't access all the functions. Maybe it's me but I can't get the looper to end correctly. It works but there is a gap at the end. My DD7 does not do this. The delay is exceptional so it's a keeper but TC should do a better job of quality control.

Comments about TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've had a hard time finding that elusive lead tone that one searches for for a long time. Not any more. I am using this with my Blackstar HT Club 40, a Boss Metal Core thru the front of the amp, (level and distortion at about 11 o'clock-low) and the TC Flashback thru the effects loop, dialed in a setting with the Tape delay, and boom, the lead tone dreams are made of. Today I set up the Toneprint, very easy, and downloaded the John Petrucci, Mountain Lead setting, just an awesome lead sound as well, and there are so many others that I will be trying eventually. The 2290 is a great classic delay like it is known and along with all the other settings this is a very nice pedal. If you are searching for a delay pedal....buy this one. You will not be disappointed.
