OVERVIEW

Small footprint, highly visible.

With its ultrabright display, groundbreaking polyphonic tuning mode, insanely fast and accurate strobe tuner and an unfathomably small enclosure, the Polytune Mini 2 pedal will serve as a massive upgrade for your pedal board while claiming very little of your precious pedal board real estate.

Attuned to Your Board
Staying in tune is without a doubt the most important thing in music, but that doesn't mean that a tuner should take up valuable space on your pedal board. With PolyTune 2 Mini you don't just get a small tuner, you get the smallest polyphonic tuner in the world. So besides getting a super-fast and precise tuner, you also get more room for more gear. It's the pedal that just keeps on giving.

Guided by the Light

As if cramming TC Electronic's award winning PolyTune technology into this tiny enclosure wasn't enough, they've also managed to cram 109 ultra-bright LEDs into a miniature display to make sure that no matter what the situation, you will get an instant and clear readout on whether you're in tune or not. And you know what that means ... less time tuning and more time for rockin'!

Pocket-Sized Precision
By transferring the ultra-precise chromatic strobe tuner from the Polytune 2 to this highly compact enclosure, TC Electronic's engineers actually managed to get +/- 0.1 cent of tuning accuracy. So whether you just need a quick tune-up on stage or want to setup your intonation with incredible precision, Polytune 2 Mini has you covered.

Does everything it says it does. I only have two complaints and two suggestion: 1) Tuning in poly mode seems to have you tune everything slightly sharp. I tuned all strings in poly first and then when switching to a single string to fine tune, ever single was string was just a hair sharp. I don't know if poly mode is accurate and single string mode is flat or vice versa, but that's a minor gripe. You can use poly mode to get close and single string mode to get every string perfect. 2) There is no way to "lock" the pedal in one mode or the other. You strum all strings for poly mode or one string for the other mode and the pedal automatically switches between modes. The problem is that you have to be sure ALL of the other strings are muted/completely silent to keep the pedal in single string mode. If you even accidentally bump another string while trying to tune a single string, the pedal will switch back to poly mode. It would be nice if there was a way to keep the pedal in one mode or the other to avoid inadvertently switching back and forth. Second suggestion, I wish there was a way to dim the display. When they say this pedal has an ultra-bright LED display, they mean it has an ULTRA-bright LED display. You could probably tune your guitar in low earth orbit with this pedal. That's fine in bright lighting or daylight, but at night or on a darkened stage, something that bright tends to affect my vision for a few minutes.

Other than that, I found the pedal intuitive and easy to use. The only thing I had to refer to the manual for was to find out how to switch between alternate tunings. There is a TINY little button near the input jack and I missed it when just holding the pedal and giving it a quick once over. The pedal does not affect your tone in any noticeable way, even when you have your volume way up. The footswitch is smooth and there's no audible pop (either on the pedal or through your amp) when switching the tuner on and off.

Out of the box these are the best thing since bread, however the foot switch is a very weak link, mine reciently quit working just after the warranty expired, in talking to other guitar players it's actually a common occurrence for them to do so.
As a guitar tech I figured I would just get another switch and put it in, no dice too miniaturized and complex to do so, plus the nut requires a pripotory tool to remove.
Tc will send you another new one for sixty long if they can't fix it, so I recomend NOT getting one as the switch should be the last thing to break, at least BOSS has a bullet proof stomp switch.
Cheers,
Bob

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Mini 2 Pedal Tuner:

I have the larger one on my full board, this was put on a small, grab and go I use with a little combo amp. It is very quick and seems accurate although the strumming all strings thing doesn't work in my view. It will show all strings in tune. Do them one at a time and you will often find that's not the case. It is not as accurate as my Peterson Strobe, which I use for setting intonation. It's great for tuning on the fly.

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Mini 2 Pedal Tuner:

This is my second Polytune for an additional pedal board I've set up. I got them for the small form factor, bright display, and quick/stable reading. I've had several other tuners that took a while to settle on a note... they would require quite a bit of finesse to hone in on a tuned string. The Poytune seems to be more stable and it makes it much easier to get things tuned quickly when playing live.

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Mini 2 Pedal Tuner:

Bought this tuner after my Korg Pitchblack broke. I had heard good things about the original Polytune so I thought why not get the newest model? I bought the mini to save some money and space on my pedalboard. I was not disappointed.

The pedal itself is small. Like, it fits in the palm of your hand small. But the display is big and bright enough that you can see it in lights or in the dark. Also supports alternate tunings like drop-D. You can pick one string and tune the traditional way or strum your strings and it gives you a readout of all six strings and if they're in tune.

I'm really impressed by this pedal. It's very small, yet isn't short on features and is very accurate. If mine were to break (don't see that happening - very sturdy and durable enclosure) then I would gladly get another one.

Comments about Polytune Mini 2 Pedal Tuner:

I'm in love with this thing. It responds immediately when you sound a string and the indicator is precise. The display is also very bright and can be seen in daylight which, as someone who plays outdoor concerts a decent amount, is something I'm giddy about (no more trying to cast a shadow over my tuner in a futile attempt to read the display). To top it off, it is beautifully tiny which freed up much needed space on my pedal board.

While I've never been a fan of polytuners (using them years ago drew me to the conclusion they were inaccurate rubbish), this is much improved. I still tune individually but it's so easy to give a quick strum in between songs to see if there is any string I might want to give attention.

It also works perfectly with the mandolin.

You can tune by playing single strings or all of them at the same time...great way to quickly check whether you're in tune. And, it'll automatically switch between the two modes depending on how many strings you play. Seems sturdy. Has a siilent switch that mutes your signal and a very bright display. Was worried it would be too small to read...it isn't at all. A little extra work for alt tunings other than Drop D if you want to use the polytene function. Overall, a great mini tuner for smaller boards.

This is a fantastic tuner that is incredibly easy to use. If there's a mini pedal that is a must it should be the tuner. This fits fantastic on top of my Empress Buffer. The Polyphonic mode makes tuning so much more efficient, you can see right away which strings are off. It doesn't affect anything tonally and it is nice to have a mute. I highly recommend this, you may never need another tuner.

Great tuner. I put one on my "short" board for small jobs- it works very well indeed. I am ordering one now to replace my Petersen on my main board. The Petersen is a fantastic tuner but is quite large. I'm not keen on the poly feature on the TC, but the chromatic tuner works well. I am also a fan of Petersen's sweetened tunings, but I've done without for decades before so I probably (hopefully) wont miss them that much.

I use a Line 6 G50 that has a dedicated tuner output so I can leave it on and check my tuning at any time. Of course the real story is tuning all six strings at once. Very cool. It also moves to single strings automatically.

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Mini 2 Pedal Tuner:

Even though I don't completely trust the poly mode I'm keeping this tuner as in regular mode is very accurate and most important this is the fastest tuner I've ever had much faster than the Korg pedal tuner.
