Comments about TC Helicon Play Electric Voice Processor for Electric Guitarists:

First, you will not be sorry you bought this; it will make you sound fantastic, especially 2 or 3 part harmonies, double voicing, etc.

One very minor complaint: Button spacing is about 3.25" which means if you are not careful those of us with big feet can easily hit two buttons at once; not good during live performances. Spacing of 4.5" or so would make it easy to rest your foot between the switches and eliminate the double hits. A minor point, but a big deal when performing.

Guitar effects are decent, but don't count on this for your only effects unit if you play live; too much stuff missing.

Comments about TC Helicon Play Electric Voice Processor for Electric Guitarists:

The VoiceLive Play GTX was TC Helicons first venture into guitar effects like amp modeling etc. I was one of the first to get it. I have used it at 250+ gigs/year for two years now. While the amp models could sound good after some tweaking, the FEEL was not QUITE "there".

Enter the Play Electric. It remedies that. And more. It takes different guitars (Strats, Les Pauls, My DiPinto Belvedere Deluxe with mini-buckers, my old Silvertone with lipstick pups, and an old Washburn EA 36 with a Baggs Element Active system) REALLY well!

I run it through a Bose L1 MII with a B2 bass. Don't miss an amp much.
For solo acoustic gigs, I use the Acoustic Shape amp model. It rocks. I don't even use a mixer, but run straight into the Bose. Everything comes out clear, crisp and awesome.
I know some people feel uncomfortable with not being able to set highs, mids and lows, and just rely on the TONE function for their vocal EQ, but I have never missed them. It just works so well and makes my voice sound so good.
Of course, on the guitar side, you CAN set highs, mids and lows, with a sweepable mid for great tone-shaping.

The vocal fx and harmonies were awesome on the GTX. Somehow, they are even better in the Play Electric! And with the guitar sounds caught up, I sound BETTER than ever!

They got rid of the MIDI ports from the GTX and added a 1/4" Guitar out, not just a through that disables the fx. Now you can run it into an amp if you wish, and use the fx, or into the PA after enabling the speaker emulator.

I don't just recommend this to friends. I recommend it to EVERYBODY!
