Tech-21 hit this one out of the park with an innovative approach that is well designed and built. This design is focused upon how a chorus unit intertacts with bass. Every control has a very unique and specific function with the result that any desired chorus effect from subtle to total, almost all the way to true flanging, can be dialed in with practice (adjustmments are sensitive and responsive). Like other Tech-21 boxes, the controls feel precise with just the correct tension. The Detune control is exactly what is needed in a bass unit, allowing the player to choose what side of the delay sweep you want to be on. The Mix control is near perfection. Level/Boost is a tremendous bonus; most choruses only mix. And the range of Depth brings it past what most chorus units can deliver. The Voicing button gives the entire unit additional character options that are uniquely different. Results are always warm and smooth without sucking out the essential tone. Just remarkable. With all of these finely executed adjustment options you may find yourself spending a lot of time exploring to discover a unique or signature effect. That would be time well spent. This could very well be the best there is.

I have always run a bit of chorus when I played live and when recording. I like to add just a bit of shimmer to my sound. I use a Gallien Krueger 2001 RB live and after an older pedal finally died (and I do mean older)I did my homework read the reviews and decided on the Tech 21 Boost Chorus! I jacked this into my effects loop and right out of the box I was able to get the effect I was looking for. The controls on this pedal are simple sensitive and infinately adjustable and I am easily able to get as much or as little chorus effect as I want without any drop out. HINT:(the mix control works very well to prevent that). The only negative thing I have to say is that I really get irritated when you spend this much for a pedal and the DC adapter doesn't come with it!I just purchased a T-Rex Compressor pedal and they did include it! It just seems like a money grubbing thing to me. Not very caring about musicians they sell to most of whom aren't made out of money!This pedal seems to be built like a tank so I'm thinking is should function as well and last as long as my Sansamp DI which is made by the same company!I love this pedal!

I use the bass chorus effect sparingly, but it is a wonderful texture change for an instrument that is otherwise lacking in variety. This pedal gives you the control you need for a variety of chorus voicings that really make my band take notice. The boost capatility is a bonus for me as I like to add back a little more volume when I go to chorus. Control of the sharp or flatness of chorus voice is wonderful and lacking in many chorus pedals. This tool will always be in my bass guitar signal chain. Thanks Tech 21!!

I normally use rack mount gear. I recently decided to build a pedal board. I've had other chorus pedals that sound "ok" on bass, but usually killed my low end or volume. This one has it all. Smooth rich sound and fully adjustable! The level control and tone control are a very welcomed plus. For my fav sound I don't need to use them but it's there when I feel "creative" You can do everything from smooth "ballad style" chorus to creative sonic bliss. I read a lot of reviews when searching for equipment but I never write them. This one deserves to be written about. Finally a Bass Chorus pedal that gives ME control. Tech 21 knocked it out of the park with this one!

This pedal is the bees knees. It's everything you could want in a bass chorus pedal, and trust me I've tried others. It looks complicated but its suprisingly easy to get a delicious, sexy chorus effect. Tech-21 supplied some good example settings to get you started and with minor teaks, you can dial in exactly what your looking for. Also, its green and white paint job looks super tastey on my pedal board!

I'm currently woking on a prog metal album. I can't see myself using this pedal during the brutal, face-melting portions of our songs, but we like to mix it up. My new chorus pedal will add tones of depth into the slower, jazzy parts as well as sick flanger effect when combined with my MXR fuzz pedal for an unexpected shredding bass solo.

First off, I am not an expert with choruses and this review is bases solely on my experiences. Second, I have only used this pedal with a fretless bass.

The problem I have with choruses, phasers, and flangers is the nodal interference that deadens random notes; the effects sound great soloed but fall apart in a mix. I can help the problem a little with a compressor but I don t like throwing more signal processing at the problem (especially since it flattens the sound too). The Tech21 Bass Chorus has the same problems as the other pedals due to the phase shifting that all choruses use. I can get a lot of great sounds out of the pedal but was getting frustrated with the nodal cancellation. Finally I tried the knob that makes all the difference: the MIX control. I figured I might be able to control the nodal effect by boosting the source signal and I was right; with the MIX set to 10 or 10:30 the chorus effect sounded great with no nodal problems.

For general use, I like mine set to: MIX - 10 o clock, TONE flat (at arrow), Speed minimum, DETUNE 2 o clock, LEVEL unity, DEPTH minimum, and MULTI-VOICE on. With these settings, I get my bass and two slightly quieter basses one tuned a little sharp and the other tuned a little flat.

This pedal is very flexible, is loaded with great sounds, and gives me the control I need to use these sounds in a mix. For the first time, I am enjoying carefree playing with a great sounding chorus pedal.
If I could control more, it would probably only let me make it sound bad.
