Features: If you are looking for an amp that is a virtual chameleon, you have come to the right brand. It has so many features on it as to be almost ridiculous. They stopped just short of integrating an entire effect board into the amp.Quality: It sounds excellent, no matter what you play. I'm used to playing through a 12" speaker, when I plugged into it tonight I didn't realize that it was a 210 until I realized that there was a quality present that I hadn't heard in my little Crate before: the clear presence of highs! And with the 12 band EQ you can tweak it any way you like of course. It has a pronounced punch too.Value: Maybe I'm just new to the game, but as great as this amp sounded, I just wouldn't see me shelling out $1330 for it.Overall: If you can handle the price, be prepared to be impressed. You could sit for hours on end with this just messing around with different sounds.
First of all I would like to thank Trace Elliot for their great comeback in 2006 with the new products. I've always been a big fan of TE bass amplifiers because of their powerful and very sensitive graphic equalizers and built-in dual compressors. It seems like a lot of other big names in bass amplification simply "forget" about those important components of signal path such as 12- band EQs and low/high compression-but not TE. Another very important feature which became almost "that signature TE sound" is PRE-SHAPE (which is sort of one-button EQ that cuts the mids and boost lows and highs-excellent feature). As far as my choice of getting the right rig(2x10 bass combo) I was torn between several different brands such as Eden,GK,Ashdown and Ampeg and after many tests I've always come back to TE. If you look for a bass combo(2x10s) with an option of adding the extension speaker, which is powerful enough to play in small to mid size clubs-don't look any further. TE 1210 is rated at 500W@ 4 ohms (only with extra 8 ohm speaker) and is very, very loud and clear at high volumes. My first impression after plugging in at the local music store was kind of "thickness" of the sound (with flat graphic EQ) and no matter if you use active or passive bass you will still get very natural and bassy sound. If you want to beef up your sound and bring some warmth there is another option of using 2 onboard tubes(valves) in the preamp section. You can also blend your overdriven sound with clean one. Cool stuff!!!Summing up- TE was always kind of "outsider" and used very sophisticated solutions in bass technology. A little bit pricey but remeber that quality is outstanding and if you want professional bass combo THIS IS IT.
