You get kicks on this Route 66!
The Visual Sound Route 66 American Overdrive gives you 2 classic effects for the price of one. This handsome stomp box features classic compression and overdrive. The great-sounding overdrive channel is modeled after the sound of the original Tube Screamer, but it also has a bass boost switch. The compressor can be set for classic squash or clean boost with the unique preamp stage and gain knob. This allows for a truckload of clean gain. The compressor even has its own tone control. The 2 effects can be used independently or combined to complement one another.

I have been tour for the past year and this pedal is one of my absoulte favorites. The combination of the overdrive and compresion make it really handy in cases where you may only really need one pedal. The compresion is great i now one some other compresions that i have seen have alot of interference but this one is smooth. The over drive is crisp making it great to crank up and "let er rip" or turn down and give a clean sound a little life. it is a must have pedal for anyone whether you are a seasoned veteran or just starting out make it part of your life
Rt66 sounds great but the quality is below average. It's one of the best sounding compressors I've ever used. But very noisy. Don't drop this one, it won't survive the fall.
I use this pedal with a Fender American Deluxe Tele and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Amp. I really like the compression/boost side of the pedal. It has a nice tone control and gives just enough bump to get your leads out over the mix. The drive has a nice crunch to it. Not metallic at all. The tones are very organic. My only problem is that the pedal is noisy. But for the price it and the construction it is a keeper for me.
I've been using the older version (smaller switches) for about 5 years now with no problems. I felt compelled to respond after reading so many reviews saying it's noisy. I've found the compressor to be noisy, especially if using an AC adapter. BUT I've used the OD as my main OD/gain pedal and it's been great. As with many other OD pedals, as you increse the gain, the noise tends to increase. I bought it b/c it has the same chip as the original TS808 and I wasnt about to spend a fortune on one of them! Pedal is pretty big too so you'll have to be creative putting it on a pedalboard.
This pedal is fantastic!! The overdrive side is superb, the tone is very natural and can be adjusted from a little dirt all the way to all out crunch and with the bass boost switch you and even more depth to your tone. The Compressor side is, well words would not do it justice.use it by it self for a little boost & sustain or turn it up for a nashville style compression it can do it all. use them together and stand by the possibilities are endless. Visual Sound has created a real winner, you cant go wrong with a visual sound pedal. Great tone & Built like a Mack Truck.
The glorious part of this stomp box is the fact that you can use the compressor and overdrive independently. When using the two together, the overdrive gets pretty dirty pretty quick. But after owning it about a year, I started realizing that the overdrive sounds fantastic without the compressor in front of it, and the compressor by itself gives me a great clean front end for my Fender tube amp. I've used it with a variety of guitars and it makes them all sparkle.
This is one of my favorite pedals I have ever owned. The compressor alone can make a solid state amp sound like a tube amp or make a tube amp sparkle even more. The overdrive has a very warm sound especially with the bass boost on. I don't play anywhere without this pedal. A must have for anyone who wants a great nartural sound.
I've had 3 gigs with this pedal, it's fantastic. You can use effects separately for great sound, or use them together for a truly amazing sound. Only complaint is it takes up a lot of space on a pedal board.
I normally play jazz so I play through a clean channel solid state Evans Amp. I needed some bite for my strat and this pedal gave me exactly what I was looking for. The compressor alone gives the clean tone a thicker sound, when you add the overdrive it's gives you a nice sounding gain. Awesome pedal, I would recomend the Route 66 to anyone.
turns your solid state amp into a gigantic vintage head an cabinet sound... with so many different sounds... dirty blues, hard and crisp, or a maximum squash.
