Voodoo Lab

Powerful, quiet amp switching and layering for total control on stage or in the studio!

Voodoo Lab's Amp Selector is the ultimate standalone tool for switching your guitar into multiple amplifiers. It lets you use up to 4 amps simultaneously without added hum or loss of tone. You can switch between amps, or layer them in any combination you need with silent switching. Absolutely no pops or clicks to ruin that quiet riff or change from high-gain lead to clean!

The Amp Selector delivers several indispensable real-world applications. Each of the outputs can be directly switched, allowing you to layer any combination of amps simultaneously. You can also configure it (using Exclusive mode) as an A/B/C/D box for selecting up to 4 amplifiers with a single button press.

Unlike most A/B-style boxes, Amp Selector has ground lift switches for each amp output. Now, no matter what amps you're using, you'll never have to worry about ground loops causing massive hum in your rig. Features also include a buffered tuner/split output for slaving additional devices without loading down your pickups or muddying your tone.

Features

  • Switch and/or layer up to 4 amps simultaneously
  • Absolutely silent switching
  • Works as A/B/C/D box
  • Switches amps with single button
  • Buffered tuner or split output functions
  • Switch 2 instruments into different pairs of amplifiers

Voodoo Labs Amp Selector

Features:

It's a pretty straightforward concept, a pedal that lets you take an input signal and switch it four different ways to different amps. It has some really nice added features though, such as individual volume knobs for each amp channel, to help you achieve a volume balance across different amps. It's a powered unit and it will run on the Boss style power supply that runs most pedals. It's got a 5th output that is not switched and it can be used for a variety of things, such as connecting it to a tuner, or as a through signal to an always-on amp. All the jacks including the input, output and power jacks are on the back. I don't know yet if that's good or bad but that's where they are.

One feature that they might have added but didn't would be if the LEDs for each output were different colors. Then you could tell at a glimpse which channel was on or off. All in all though I think the product excells on the subject of features.

Quality:

So far so good. I just got it and it appears to be a solid, well-made unit. The real test will be if holds up over time of course.

Value:

It's a little on the expensive side honestly, but my thoughts on value were that if it allows me to better enjoy the amps I have managed to purchase over the years, at considerable expense, then it's at least middle of road in terms of value.

Overall:

It's an amp switcher, and it seems well made. It's nice looking and compact. It operates quietly.  Overall I am happy with the product. If you have purchased multiple high quality amps this is a nice way to get your gear arranged so that you can easily use the amp of your choice without having to go through a bunch of hassle with the cables. I use mine in a home studio setting but it seems like it would be useful for live performance as well.

I am new to this multiple amplifier thing.  I tried all the a/b switches I could find and even made my own and still had hum and noise.  Not any more.  Totally quiet with no switching noise at all.  Running 2 amps now but I have 2 more amp slots to fill...

I bought this last December. Worked great for about 3 hours. Called Voodoo, returned it for fix, I got it back the day BEFORE I told them I needed it for a gig. (Thanks Voodoo!) Worked great again, still works great.  Does just what I want it to: it totally seperates my JCM 800 and SDL 100 Marshalls AND no hum when either or both are off!!! So, I can go from whimpy soft clean side of the JCM 800, to all out lightening (crunch side of SDL 100) in an instant. More important, stepping on the lead channel of either amp, NOW, has no impact on the other.  If you have multiple amps/pa feed/and or a recording feed, this is THE tool!!! I use power adapters, no batteries, no worry.

Disappointed

I bought this amp selector with great hopes that it would solve my problems about switching among my Marshall amp, my Vox amp, and my Line 6 Pod running through the P.A., and switching between my Strat and my Rickenbacker.  Unfortunately on my third gig with it, it simply stopped working.  I put in a new battery, checked everything, tried everything I could think of and it just doesn't work anymore.  Since I had had it for 54 days, and the Musicians Friend return policy is for 45 days, they refused to exchange it.  So now I am stuck with a dead amp selector.  Total bummer.

Hands down, this is simply the best amp switching product on the market. The features are everything they claim to be and this surpasses anything else on the market. Hum, what hum ! no pops and effects sound good in front of the device. I play through a Budda superdrive, Fender Twin, Mesa Boogie SOB and 68 Plexi, and one or all the signal is not sucked or diminished. For my non true bypass tuner it is not in the signal chain. This is worth every penny, I couldnt believe my ears.
