Absolutely incredible! Vintage Vox tone with great features! The amp a thousand times more incredible in person. I didn't get the combo due to the heavy weight. Both amp and cab are roughly 40 lbs. each so it makes for an easy tote. Great product! Highly satisfied!
This amp is pure tone. From the classic clean sound that vox is known for to a very raw and suprisingly thick dirty tone. This amp is incredible for live use or studio use. You can flip the mode to Triode and can pretty much crank the amp completely and its not overbaringly loud. Used on the Pentode mode you will have plenty of headroom for just about any gig. The only thing I wish it had was the built-in tremolo and reverb circuit as the usual AC30, but if you dont mind buying a pedal or two its not a big deal. Its a great amp...Im definitely considering buying one very soon.
This is my second vox amp head and I love it. It has a good (warm) 60s tone that is to die for. Sounds good with a Strat or any Gibson guitar. Yes it is made in China but what isn't made China today. The quality of this amp is very very good. And yes the amp head is 100% hand-wired I took it apart and looked. Also the head made of 100% Birch ply, No cheap pressboard on this Vox amp, Construction very rock soid. Do you remember 1960s the early Rolling Stones, John, Paul, George, Ringo, If you remember these names, did you like the music The good time rock and roll, If you did you will love this Vox Amp.
I own this head and i have quite a collection of amps. This Vox AC30 HH Rivals most of the amps i own if you cant find the sound you like in this amp then you must only play metal.True Vintage Tone from Beatles, Rory Gallagher, Stones to Petty, its all right hear in this amp! Add a few pedals and the sky is the limit. All guitars sound good in this amp from Les Pauls to Teles so hopp on the band wagon to Vox tone Buy one!
The new Vox 50th anv.AC30HH head is a realy pleasant surprise. It has a simplified control pannel without the trem or reverb, so there's even less that could possibly malfunction in the future. The sound is of course unmatched by other amps out there that try to emulate brittish tones. This head is quite loud because there's no master volume so just be prepared. But microphones like the SM57 need a pretty loud signal for the best tone while recording. My only gripe is that Vox does not include the settings card with this item like the one that comes with the AC30CCH. These suggested settings which are , clean, classic, overdrive, and crunch are realy essential as starting points when trying to accomplish realy distinct tones from this circuit. I wish Vox would come up with one for this product. You would most likely never stumble upon these settings your self and the suggested settings go a long way to getting the best tones out of this amp.
Right out of the box it played amazingly. You can't beat the signiture sounds it produces and with the pentode and triode options this amp is the most versatile amp I have ever played and the last I will buy.
