One night before a gig I had my girlfriend drive so I could sit in the backseat and practice the set because I knew by the time we'd get there I wouldnt have a chance to! Worked great!!
I would reccommend it to anyone whos looking for a way to practice to thier mp3 player ANYWHERE without disturbing those around you - although you can always just plug into a loud stereo!!
Honestly, if youre looking for pristine tonal qualiity, this probably isnt for you, but Im happy with the tone I can get and the ease of use and the practicality of it is just what I needed. If I lost it, I would replace it immediately.
OK, read some of the reviews for this... SO you dont have the sonic range as you would on an actual VOX amp, but for the purpose of learning songs, playing along with an mp3 player or to help you warm up just before a gig, this little plug in to yr bass or guitar is a phenomenal tool to have. You have the ability to adjust the Gain and the Tone of your instrument and the overall volume of everything combined (your guitar and the auxilliary jack). I play through active pickups and have a treble, mid and bass tone knobs on my bass and I can get a great sound on this little guy. I love it. The only reason why Im not giving it 10 stars is because it does lack complete tonal control, but for my purposes it serves me very well!! For portability, and having the ability to play anywhere... as long as you've got fresh batteries, a charged mp3 player and a good pair of headphones - Let The Rock Be MOBILE!!
The quality of this plug seems pretty fragile. Before you put your guitar down, unplug it from your axe. Depending on where you cord input is, if its on the bottom of your guitar and you set it down, chances are you could crack it or break it if youre not putting it on an guitar stand...
Also, its fairly easy to lose the battery cover, so keep an eye on that.
It could probably go for a little cheaper than what it goes for. Really VOX?? come on!!

This is my experience with the Vox amPlug Bass Headphone amp. I really wanted to like this thing, but it is so cheaply made that I can't recommend it. There is plenty of volume from this unit and the tone is OK, but hissy at any setting, especially when my iPod is plugged into it. The compression channel is even noisier, as you might expect. I can live with that since it's just for practice. It basically does what it says it will do. What is disappointing is how cheaply the unit is put together. Cheesy plastic switches and dial controls that just feel like they're going to break at any moment. The big problem I have is that the jack for the earphones (or possibly the circuitry) became buggered up within three months and no longer feeds both stereo channels to the phones. I've babied this thing from the start, so it's not like I broke it through neglect. It's just crappy construction. It should be better for the price.I did not have the problem with the thing falling out of the bass jack that others describe - just lucky, I guess. I've not used any other headphone amps, so maybe they're all this bad.

Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
It's easy to use and works as advertised. I can still put on some external music and then adjust the volume to the Vox and play along. It's totally portable - just take the bass to any room and play. 4 stars only because I haven't used anything else to compare to.

My 14-year-old is learning to play bass guitar. This little amp is perfect for his practice. He can plug headphones into the amp so I am not barraged with hours of practice. Everyone is happy.

Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
I love the sound and the portability of this product. I also love that I could hook it up to my IPhone and use my music app (Spotify)to learn music. The only problem is it's plastic and not that durable, I broke my mine while watching my 15 month old daughter, but I'm here about purchasing another one, that's how much i liked it. My only suggestion is be very careful handling it because it's very fragile.

Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
I just got mine, and I love it... stayed up way too late, practicing. I like the fact that,by manipulating the gain and volume controls, you can create a clean or distorted sound. Some reviewers didn't like the sound - they probably didn't understand this. That being said, it is a PRACTICE amp. It will not produce the sound of an expensive system. It does a great job for its intended purpose. My only concern is that the case may not last if it is dropped. Only time will tell - so far, I give it a thumbs-up.

Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
Material is plastic, and could be fragil. But taken care of it serves my purpose of jamming alone and with background music and not creating alot of noise. I can carry my bass, headphone, and this thing and jam to music on my phone at the beach or the condo.

Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
Good for practice, not much else can be expected in my opinion. The functionality of the Tone feature is so, so. If you want to hear your bass without waking up your neighbors late at night, this is for you.
Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
For half the price this would totally be worth it. For this price... ehhh.
It allows to hear the notes you are playing, and to play along with songs without waking up your housemates. It sounds like a farting walrus. If you just want something to use to practice occasionally, this works.
If you're picky about tone, plan to use this for recording, or are going to be using this on a regular basis I would definately suggest shelling out for something better.
It has an 3.5mm input for playing along with your ipod/etc. The compression "efx" channel seems like a feature until you realize you have to have it on all the time if you want even close to enough volume. I have a HOT active preamp in my bass so I know the problem's not on my end. It may be an impedance issue (I use big studio headphones to practice), but I'm not exactly gonna play bass with little earbuds.
I guess the tone is "acceptable" on the clean channel at low volumes, but then it's not really any louder than playing the bass unplugged. By the time it's turned up loud enough to hear yourself well it produces a moderately loud hiss at all times and notes exhibit strong square-wave clipping.
I have a low priced amp with headphone out that I typically practice with at night. It sounds 20 times better than this. I'm willing to cut this amp a bit of slack though because, it's tiny, relatively cheap, and runs on two AAAs. There are going to be trade-offs.
Comments about Vox amPlug Bass Headphone Amp:
Effects are not that impressive, but works great for what I use it for.
Not that impressive.
