This amp is awesome for the price. It goes loud enough to fill small buildings. The scoop is awesome. Probably one of the best 200 watt combos out there and the most affordable!
The bassist in our band uses this amp and actually whenever I want extremely clean tone for my guitar, I plug it in this bad boy. It sounds amazing. I cant get sounds this clean out of a regular guitar amp. Therefore I'm gonna buy one of these bad boys and just use an AB switch to switch back and forth between this and my Vox Valvetronix. Oh ye, a bass sounds amazing through it as well.
This amp is awesome! It has many tonal options, and great ones i might add. If you need volume this is the amp for you. Its 200 watts is much more than enough for me. When i play with my heavy metal band 2 and a half to 3 on the volume is all i need. So basically this amp has the tone and the power to back it up. I highly recommend it.
Ok, I've played bass for almost 25 years and have used alot of gear during that time. This amp was a good investment for me as I am running all kinds of things through it. I work in my home studio alot and I found that hookin this thing up to my studio PA is not only easy but also reversible.... I can use it as the bass woofer for my DAW and then power a car sub with the EXT cab out. I play guitar, synth, drum machines and DJ through this monster aswell. I would have liked it if there was a rca input installed in the front of it but I can work around that.
I've had this for quite some time. It's extremely versatile, and the scoop knob is amazing. It works especially well with a guitar, as opposed to a bass. The four band EQ is so amazingly tweakable. It's loud when you want it to be, and deafeningly loud if you feel like it. Great sound.
The new yorkville is a great but it is strongly recommended that the 15" speaker seperate cab is purchased with this combo amp.. by itself it is weak but with the 15" It gives all the highs and lows necessary and is ultra clear... I give it high ratings.
It's a good, loud amp, not much on what you can change though when it comes to sound, but it does sound really good. I recommend it for anyone who needs a good bass amp but doesn't have a whole lot of money.
I bought this used, along with a few pedals a few months ago, and have been a happy kid ever since. It was my first amp, and not only helped me break into local music, but also to correct my technique (Amazing what solid amplification can show you). It's got enough power for a small gig and definitely for a solid rock jam session. The tonal range is pretty varied, from muddy lows to entwhistle-highs, it's got enough variety. The only gripe I have is the handle; its pretty obtuse carrying this 80-ish lb unit from the top, side handles would've been much better. It's not heavy if you can get a good grip on it, but with lack of handles, thats a little tricky. All in all it's a great amp for a starter or new musician.
I own this amp and have played it for about three months now. There is simply NO comparison to any other combo out there at this wattage. The EQ and scoop control give you the ability to shape your tone exactly how you want it, and it blows the pants off the comparable SWR Workingman's 15. The only suggestion I would make is to get the 15 cab with it to fill out the "boomy" bottom end. I have this extension cab, and the guys in my band say that they have never heard a bass guitar sound so good, clean, and tight. It can sound like thunder, or a piano. The choice is up to you. The only reason I give it a 9 overall is because the direct out does not have a ground lift switch. Trust me, before you spend $700, $800, $1000, or more on a larger rig, you HAVE to try this one. You WILL NOT regret it!
great amp, great price. this is the loudest 200 watt amp i've ever played. sound is awesome!!!
