Comments about Zoom G2.1Nu Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:
Yes, you can buy better effects. Yes, you can get better sounds from dedicated boxes. But if you're not willing to haul around a box full of cabled stomp pedals or can't justify the purchase of a rack mount system, this little black box has the guts to deliver a satisfactory magazine full of versatility. When my HD8 breaks (still going strong after 4 years of abuse), I'll buy the new HDR they make. Zoom stuff is tasty.
One standout- the equalizer. If tone is everything, then an equalizer with both low and high adjustments can make all the difference. Easy to use, good (though small) display panel, and solid construction. Funny little thing; a button for "direct" input to headphones or DAW...makes a real difference. Nice touch.
Rating a five because the first one I ordered just quit....power out....dead. Maybe a needle in a haystack...but it's MY haystack!
Yes, the battery-powered single effect pedals are generally a little better overall. But not by much...
and not worth the effort for most. For a home studio it's a great choice. Through an amp...not bad. Wore out my old Digitech Rpx400...the pots got touchy after eight years. I'd call this Zoom G2.1 Nu a step up. After using numerous effects boxes over the years...Zoom is my 'go to.'

.
Works great on my macbook, drivers crap out on both my windows 7 machines.
Sounds are great, up there with my pod xt for sure.
You can run it on batteries if you want, totally rad.
Super easy to use.
make the knobs track better,
they do not work very well, have to turn them very slow or they mess up and start going up and down within the parameters that are being changed.
can't be touched for the sound that comes out of this thing, the converters sound nice.
Comments about Zoom G2.1Nu Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:
The pre-set patches are decent. I really didin't expect much (as you shouldn't) but the Hendrix and Dimebag/Ozzy settings sound pretty good. They all probably need a little tweaking depending on your amp and guitar.
I would love some longer recording/looping time, but hey that's what recorders and loopers are for!
Love the tuner interface.
Looks great, can't beat black&metallic. Feels nice and solid, not so toyish.
As far as dropping money on things goes, you won't feel like a putz for buying this thing. It is more of an instrument than a toy, and is probably the best you can do for the price.
It has all the standard effects of a multi-fx pedal. And each effect has 3 parameters to set between 1 and 100 to really customize the sound. Compare this to most low-medrange multi's that have 1 parameter (effect intensity/frequency) and are only 1 through 10. The effects sound pretty good (a multi will never be as good as having a seperate quality pedal for each effect, but it is economical.) And the LCD screen is a nice touch; very readable and makes creating patches a lot less complicated.
Also, it is a recorder. It will record short phrases, then transfer them to a PC via USB port. There isn't enough memory to record a whole song, but certainly a riff or a phrase. It is nice to record a pre-amp signal, then mix it in with your post-amp microphone tracks to get a thick sound. Put a DI box in before the multi to catch the clean sound, and mix that in as well.
Chromatic tuner is easy and precise.
ALSO, IT IS A LOOPER!!!! I'm not sure why they don't advertise this, but nevertheless... Again, it is limited by the memory, but you can get 8 counts-worth to record, then lead or solo ontop of it.
Metal knobs, metal pedal, semi-metal frame mixed with some plastic. It's stronger than most multi's at this price, but I still wouldn't stomp it. Multi's weren't really meant for the stage anyway, keep it in the studio and don't abuse it, and it will be fine for a very long time.
hey, for the price, gets you a multi that can hang with the twice as expensive pedals. There are multi's out there with stronger processors and more memory (therefor better sound and longer recording times.) But there is a huge price jump for that kind of hardware. This thing will get the job done for an intermediate guitarist, and puts out a pretty recordable sound when mixed properly.

Home run ZOOM
Very nice indeed! Simple to learn, changing presets is linear(practical). Plus the ability to adjust G2.1 presets on your computer is awesome! No leaning over your multi effects turning knobs! I love this thing. Only complaint is every once in awhile it will glitch out. Only a minor annoyance tho.
Lots of good distortions (some bad ones too). But that is every multi effects unit, isn't it? Steve Vai presets are useless but you can program right over the top of 'em. I owned a zoom multi effects product years ago and it was total crap! Glad to see they finally got it right.........
Solid build. Metal chasis, rubber bottom
Excellant for the $$$

This thing does every thing, but scratch my back. I've had my Zoom G2.1Nu for 4 months now and "play" with it almost daily. And, I have only scratched the surface of what this "little black box" can do. One word of advice read the user's manual and re-read until it is all dog earred & raggedy. So happy with this pedal, I sold off all my other pedals and stompboxes. The only knock about the Zoom pedal is the looper. 5 seconds ! Why bother ! To fix this shortcoming. I bought a Digitech JamMan Solo looper pedal( now I have hours of looping & overdubbing available to me to use). The models and effects of this pedal range from the sub-duded to the criminally insane ! So glad that M.F. carries Zoom products now. Because, I'am so happy with the quality and value of the G2.1Nu pedal. That I will be buying one of the Zoom Handy audio/video recorders, as soon as I can make up my mind to which model I want.
Comments about Zoom G2.1Nu Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:
I had some sales guy talk me out of the Vox Tonelab St and into the G2.1Nu. Not to be a snob, but I thought "You've got to be kidding me." Well, I tell you what - I take it everywhere. I LOVE that it only takes 4 AA batteries. The effects sound great and are easy to modify. The amp mods are good. Drum machine's great for sketching song ideas or jamming. I've owned the Pod 2.0, Pod X3, GNX3, Roger Linn Adrenalinn III, and numerous effect units. I like most of them, don't get me wrong. But for $200, this guy is the most versatile thing out there.
Comments about Zoom G2.1Nu Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:
excellent pedal. I bought mine elsewhere since MF didn't carry zoom products. Really happy they have them now. This pedal has it all tuner, drums to play with, usb, great converters. For 199.00 you cant go wrong.
Comments about Zoom G2.1Nu Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:
I have not had a lot of experience with effects or processors. In fact this is the first one that I have purchased. I like that fact that there is a lot of flexibility; you can create just about any sound/effect that you want. And you can store up to 200 setups. The only issue that I have is that you need to plan out which effects you need for a given song and make sure that they are right next to each other in the list. It is hard to "jump" across setups. The unit seems solid enough. Has great extra features such as drum beat/metronome, tuner. You can also record a loop but it is only 10 secs long.
