Well, you get what you pay for. I bought this bass to play for my church's worship band. However, upon receiving the bass, there were two dead frets and the stock strings have already tarnished the neck a little bit. It would be wise to assume that stock strings would be mediocre, but these strings are literally attacking the neck. Also, the two dead frets are kind of inconvenient. I mean, if you're looking for a decent acoustic bass guitar, then look no further. But just be aware of the defects that might occur...

I am an avid guitar and now bass player. This is my first bass, and im no expert, but i was blown away by the tone and playability of this bass. It's great. The finish is perfect and beautiful. I own an Ovation Appluase AE128 guitar and love it which is why i stuck with Ovation. The AE140 is simply a must try for any bassist looking for an acoustic.

Wanted a cheap acoustic

This is the first acoustic I owned, I wanted something for the backyard and for camping. Out of the box it was in bad need of a set up, the action was set to high for anyone, the strings were terrible and the Truss rod needed adjustment. It plays pretty good now, the E string has a little buzz, its a little quiet, most reviews for acoustic basses seem to include that line. You can always plug it in and it sounds great. The pre - amp and controls work well, it has a great tone and over all you get your moneys worth. If you want an inexpensive acoustic this should be right up your alley.
