This is maybe one of the best basses out there, especially for the price. It has active EMG pick-ups, which sound awesome out of every amp I used (mostly a Behringer 120 combo). The bass, mid, and treble knobs actually do make the bass sound different (as where on other basses, I hear a very slight, if at all, change), and they all turn smoothly. I gave the features a ten because when I ordered the bass, I was expecting the pick-ups to be passive (as most Dean basses are), but that may as well be my fault for not checking. Also, it doesn't have a pick guard. I don't use a pick, but now I can't switch one of the pick-ups to a p-style I was going to buy. It stays in tune good, and the body is beautiful. The slapping is pretty sloppy, and the strings are loose, which cause that fizzle sound when you press the frets. I like that, but for all those who don't, it shouldn't be a reason to not buy this bass. Just buy different strings. It's usually better to do that with a new bass anyways.

Average Starter Bass

I bought one of these and it is OK. The action is sloppy for slap but the tone is very workable.

Still Love It!!!!

By Michael Chatten

from TN

This is the second time I have owned this bass, and with that, I still LOVE it. It really plays great. the action is quick and very usable. It is not the greatest bass for slap, but I use my Ibanez SG-400 for that anyway. This bass is a bit on the heavey side, but that is to be expected with a 6 string.

I got the quilted blue finish, and when I recived it, it is darker then shown in the photos on here. Still a beautifully sleek base.

Overall the tone is wonderful, Plays awsome, and I couldnt be happier. I do highly reccomend this bass for anybody not looking to spend over a grand.
Awsome!!!

Great bass for the money

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I got this bass to see if I would even like a 6 string having only played 5 and 4 string. This is great. Plays great, sounds great, looks great. I'm so surprised it isn't more, I also own Alembics, G&L, vintage Fender, and this is my only 6 string and I don't plan on replacing it any time soon. If you're looking for a great bass for a great price get it. I don't know much about Dean but so far their products are great.

Could Not Be More Satisfied!!!!

By MikkiisixxX

I could not be more satisfied with this product. I've never played a Dean before so this is my first one. I've always been a 4 string P-Bass person. I wanted the two extra octives with a good quality bass for pennys on the dollar. This is it. The EMGs are freaking awesome tasty tone and uber punchy. I play through a GK Backline 600 setup, sounds absolutely amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the outer box was severely damaged in shipping, but the bass was survived. Neck isn't too wide and the strings are slightly floppy but you could always put some new ones on. Overall this is a great bass.

SUPER BASS

By howie-U5mw6

I have owned this bass about a year, and it has been awesome. its a little top heavy but light overall. Once you play it awhile you get used to the wider neck. It sounds as good as it looks and is well worth the price if your short on cash. If I lost this one or damaged it beyond repair I would buy another in a heart beat.

D@MN GOOD BASS!

By L.D.S of Lythos

from Topeka, KS

I own five basses. I've sworn an oath to Spector basses. Eventually, I wanted a change of pace. I tried the Ibanez Soundgear models and I thought they were a little loose and sloppy in the fret action. I came across this bad boy and was hooked instantly. I gives great tone, has one of the easiest "full accress" necks to navigate, and is comfortably lightweight. It does take some getting used to if you're a slapper, but for blues and metal it's superb. If you want to High-roll a couple grand on a 6-string then go Spector. If you're considering a 6-sting at a reasonable price, the search ends here.

A Solid 6

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I just picked up this bass about two weeks ago and I really like it. Its got a great neck, a bit heavy in that area I admit, and solid electronics. I can get some really good tone out of it and its a great 6 string for the price. It feels good on the fingers and the low B is still nice, thick and punchy. I reccomend this bass for those just thinking about getting a 6 string and on a budget, obviously. Its cool and I like that blue finish too.

Awsome playing, awfull electronics.

By Daniel DT

from Panama City, Panama

I own the Dean Edge Q-6 for almost a year and a half and I've come upon several problems in the electronics. The EMG's are amazing but the rest is horrible; the cables and knobs are not assembled properly and it's very dirty inside, which ended costing me a lot of money, since finding the right size became a problem. Other than that, the tone and playing is great in every single amplifier I?ve played it on. In conclusion, this bass is amazing but its electronics are bad. I will recommend this bass, but would say: Watch out for electronics.

Delicious Bass

This is maybe one of the best basses out there, especially for the price. It has active EMG pick-ups, which sound awesome out of every amp I used (mostly a Behringer 120 combo). Dean Q6

Ask me a question

For a six string under a grand this is the only way to go. Sounds good, plays well and it's put together pretty well. It's a bit of a sloppy slapper but once you get used to it it's handles just fine. Best feature (in my opinon) is that it's just a comfortable bass; if you're planning in front of people you don't want a clunker strapped to your chest and have a hard time navigating the neck...this bass doesn't do that at all.
