I just got the Explorer Bass recently, and the tone is just fantastic, and I can actually notice the change of sound when I adjust with the switch/knobs. The only problems I really had with it is:1.) It's surprisingly top heavy (the neck), which in turn can make your shoulder sore for a bit (till you get used to it.)2.) When I first ordered this bass, the top-nut wasn't aligned! It made my "G" string fall off my fret board as I tried to play it, so I sent it back and got a good new one.If you can get over the intial top heavyness of this rad looking bass, then I suggest buying it.

This is a poorly designed guitar, the bridge on the neck stock is cheaply GLUED on! You have to take into consideration the angle the strings take at the angle of the headstock there is too drastic of a angle for the bridge to be just glued on! There is no way you can leave this up to glue to hold the bridge in place. Especially for a bass!!!

I have the original Gibson Explorer Bass and this one is no where near the same quality.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Bass Guitar:

I bought this used, so maybe some of the factory imperfections have already been fixed. But jeese, this thing sounds awesome, looks better, is more hardcore than the thunderbird but with the same body I was looking for, and it is just to cool. I love the three way switch too. If you buy this though, buy some straplocks too. Goldfinish is sweet

Almost a T-Bird

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Bass Guitar:

I have played Thunderbirds since the 60's ( Yes I'm old!) But 40 years of playing bass told me to buy this bass. I have 3 vintage Birds that are played regularly. I have always loved the style of the Explorer. Entwhistle (R.I.P.) was right. These ARE the only two basses on the planet worth owning. Now if I could just find a 'V" I would have ALL the goofy Gibsons! This thing through my SVT rattles your nuts.

Coolest bass ever

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Bass Guitar:

I thought I'd have to get a custom bass made to get this body style, when I saw it I bought it right away. Be sure to by StrapLocks with it, it's real top-heavy. The weight was a little discouraging, but after a few days I was used to it, and this is now easily my favorite bass guitar.

Works For Me

By Hippie Kid

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass about a month and a half ago from this site and I have to say I am rather happy. I was playing on a squire p-bass and the difference in everthing is just unbelievable I was realy missing out. The look of it the feel of it and the sound are just awsome and I will be happy with this for a while but the only problem is the necks too heavy so it's unbalanced but hey it makes up for it.

This is the best bass ever created and it deserves to be painted in platinum and hung on the wall of the rock n roll hall of fame! Great!

I love the look and feel of this bass. Right out of the box it was ready to play because the guys at epiphone set up and adjust everything before it's shipped off. doesn't buzz at all.

I love this bass

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Bass Guitar:

The sound, feel, and look of this bass is just great! The cut of the body is a little wierd at first but I got used to it quickly and also found that the body acts as a good thumb rest for those who play with their fingers. I played with a pick on my other bass, which is a five string, but with this bass I just love playing with my fingers a whole lot more!
