Huge sound and solid playability!

Sunk into its flamed maple top are a pair of heavy-hitting SB-4 pickups designed to give up a massive wall of low-frequency mayhem. The 5-piece maple/walnut neck bolts up to the mahogany body and has a rosewood fretboard fitted with 24 XJ frets, pearl dots, and the model name at the 12th fret. Tweak your tone with volume and balance knobs plus an ESP ABQ-3 active EQ. This is one very nasty sonic package housed in a dark and deadly instrument that looks as hot as it plays.

Features

  • Bolt on neck with 34" scale.
  • Basswood body with flame maple top
  • 5-piece maple/walnut neck with 24 XJ-fret rosewood fretboard
  • Dot inlays with model name at 12th fret

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I had only played a 4 string bass. I wanted to upgrade and tried a 5 string. Thats not a step, thats a leap. Just felt wrong to me. Couldn't find an 8 string bass to try out but I had played a 12 string accoustic for 35 years and knew the fullness of the sound. So I ordered this one and I am so pleased. It plays so easy and you can get, I think, any kind of tone sound you want. Only 3/16th of an inch wider at the nut. Not a problem. Came set up great and since I play in a 3 piece, it fills in a bunch. Love it Love it!!

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

Played accoustic classicial for 35 years till an operation made it to hard to wrap my arm around an accoustic. Picked up a 4 string bass about a year and a half ago. Wanted something better. Tried a 5 string and that was too big a leap so I settled on this 8 string. Played a 12 string accoustic for years so I figured I could handle it and I was right. This thing plays so easy and sounds any way you want it to. Loud and nasty or mellow, it's there. Neck is only 3 sixteenths of an inch wider at the nut so its not a base ball bat. Couldn't find one local to try first so I bought this on line and I am so happy with it. Not many of them around. Deffinately gets peoples attention especially other players. A solid 10 on my scale.

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

Played classical acoustic for 35 years and occasional bass. Been playing a reg 4 string bass for about a year in a 3 piece band. Couldn't find an 8 string to try so I bought this one on line and I am blown away by the easy way it plays. Was comfortable after just a few hours. Awesome tone and action. Came set up perfect for me. No trip to the guitar dr. For this kind of money you absolutely will not go wrong. If you want to double your sound and really fill in the dead spots, trust me, go for this bass. 5 stars all around and it was delivered in flawless condition a day early!!! Love it!

Fill Up Your Sound Without Emptying Your Wallet!

ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple TopThis bass was made for the power trio. This bass has a beautiful top and nice balance for a bass in this price range. But the real fun came when I plugged this puppy in. My test rig was Gk Backline 600w head through a 4x12 cab. Similar to a 12str guitar played through a sub octave pedal. Nice harmonics and when you kick in the overdrive, look out! fire your rhythm guitar player and get yourself the B-208FM.

          Better than a 12ver

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I got that Dean Rhapsody 12 (on ebay). It sounded good, but I later found out that I couldn't play it very fast so I got this bass. The extra strings (that are one octave above the main ones)effected my speed not too much, and I sound better than ever. So my advice to those decinding to buy either a 12ver or a 8ter, the 12vers sound better but the 8ters you can play faster. I used a two amp rig (1Marshall, 1Ampeg). If you don't have that kinda of money you can get a couple of Fender amps and pedals and it will still sound good.

          Adds a little something

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I just played this bass today, and I loved it. The previous 8 string that I played slowed me down to much. I play mainly funk stuff, like Victor Wooten, and some of his stuff you can't do on it (like the thumb double pick stuff). But with some slight adjustments, you can play most everything funk on it. It takes some getting used to, but it adds another dimension to your playing that you can't get any other way.

I was very impressed with the quality of this instrument. I was somewhat hesitant to buy an 8-string since I had never played one before. I got it and it is fairly easy to play and has an awesome sound. I play to buy another ESP bass soon.

          unique bass

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

About 3 years ago I joined a three piece rock group. As every musician knows, with a 3 piece band, there is an empty spot. After I played the 8 string bass, I felt it would add to the sound, and fullness,of the band, which it did. I found the esp lost bottom (fatness) when adjusting the settings to make the highs come across. If you purchase a bass driver or exciter pedal, it will take care of the above problem. Another problem I found, is I could not find the same scale strings that come on the E.S.P. from the factory. It seems that replacement strings are a heavier scale, which makes the action tougher around f & g. Instead of fighting with the action, it was very easy to rework the top nut, and deepen the string slot. Take your time with the nut, or the intination will be way off when bounging off the frets. A little adjustment goes a long way. Keep all of he hardware tight. it takes getting used to but so do new shoes. its a good guitar, with its own personality, and sound.
